  1. I have 16 if you are counting finished. 4 were started last year. There are five more in various stages that I expect to have done by year end.
  2. You are absolutely correct Gary. The 1966 Mercury did not come with a 427. I didn't want to get into all that but, since you did, I will elaborate. The names Marauder(410) and Super Marauder(428) where given only to the engines. There was no model named as such. Instead, the name S55 was used as a model along with Monteray, Montclair and Parklane. It is correct that the brochure shows the engines as black, but most people paint them Ford engine blue. Below is my engine bay. This is a side view. Note the S55 emblem on the rear quarter panel.
  3. Ford engine blue. My daily driver is a 1966 Mercury S55 convertible with a 428. The battery also mounts just behind the grill on the passenger of the fender
  4. I apply Future with either an airbrush, paint brush or foam brush. The brush can be any size needed. I use a 1" foam brush for bodies.
  5. I just used Krylon Fusion on bare plastic on a Monogram model. There were no problems.
  6. I second getting Donn Yost's video. It fixed my paint mistakes after one viewing.
  7. There is a guy on a web sight that shows how to use Alclad to paint scripts and interior chrome pieces with a brush. I have it saved in my favorites, but can't locate it right now. He applies it the same as using spray only with a brush. Brush on black enamel first, then multiple thin coats of Alclad. It looks really nice. I'm going to try it on a spare body and see how it works for me.
  8. When someone says their coming to Orlando, I think of the attractions. If that's the case, you'll be on the south end near Kissimmee. I'm on the far outer reaches of the north side just off I-4 and don't go to the other world on the south end. Therefore, I don't know any hobby related thing down there. The last time I was in Bob's was about a year and a half ago. It used to be good a few years ago before he moves. The model, paint and Evergreen stock s limited. By the way, If you decide to go there you'll need to know that the sign outside says Flightline Hobbies. Big on rc. I have been to Colonial Photo and Hobby within the last month, There model selection is so so but, because of the railroad section, there is a fairly good selection of paint and Evergreen. Also, there is a good selection of tools, etc. and, believe it or not, in the show case on the back wall, almost undetectable because of rc cars stacked on the top of the case, are after market parts from Model Car Garage and others as well as wheels. The new Hobby Lobby just opened further to the east on East Colonial. I haven,t been there yet. If I want anything besides models, I go to Colonial Photo and Hobby. If I wanted a model, I'd go to the Hobby Town located in the Seminole Town Center on SR 46 and I-4. There are a few other small shops, but they are totally or mostly rc. Hope this helps.
  9. There is only one Silver Ghost and it was the 13th car built in 1907. It's the only one to be all silver. I've got pictures of it,but I'm not telling how I voted.
  10. I took this link off of the IPMS Orlando board. It will answer any question you might have about Colonial Photo & Hobby. http://ipmsorlando.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=8a4b7c3fc51f5655513700348cebca89&topic=898.0
  11. Thanks Wayne. You saved me a drive and get in the door fee.
  12. Volusia County is east of Lake county and north of Seminole county. Wayne is in Daytona Beach, I'm in DeBary. Both are in Volusia County. I live 1 mile west of I-4 and just north of the Seminole County line at mile marker 108. Wayne is 30 plus miles further up off I-4 than I am. I-4 starts in Tamps. As I said in an earlier post on this thread and Wayne has confirmed, there are a number of modelers on the our area. Abell is the one who is within 5 miles of me.

  14. I have seen a real one of these. I vote real.
  15. Since this build is for a year,I have a couple I want to do. Both of these I got off of e-bay 8 to 9 years ago. The first is the convertible version of the 62 Olds F-85. It is complete except for 2 tires, 2 hubcaps and taillights. The tires and hubcaps I can make resin copies of and there is the sprew in the box that the taillights were attached to that I can form new ones from. The second is a 63 Tempest. It will require some repair as the body and rear bumper are damaged. It also has an engine plate and I want to replace it with a v-8.
  16. I use mostly acrylics now because of health and safety precautions. It is a learning process to learn to spray through an air brush. This 31 Cadillac body was painted with Liquitex tube paint. The fenders from Liquitex gloss from a jar and the top and interior from Liquitex tube and both were custom mixed. This 27 Lincoln was painted with Apple Barrel blue strieght out of the bottle. The black was the same as used on the Cadillac This is again Apple Barrel gloss black. These colors were all special mixed from liquitex tubes. The fenders are maroon. I like the fact that the cost is low and my choice of colors is almost endless.
  17. I have 23 finished, 8 in progress over, 300 untouched and 1 totally scratch built in progress. I have been building since April of 2009. The last model I built before that was in 1961.
  18. I keep them along with the instructions as well as any unused parts.
  19. Has April 2011 been decided on for the deadline? If so, I'm in. I have at least 30 plus models that would qualify, but one in particular that I have been wanting to do.
  20. PFS Hobbies used to carry resin non-chrome ones, but I haven't seen them in quite a while. I had always intended on getting some and lost my round toit and never did. I tried casting the 59 CHEVY ONES BUT DIDN'T HAVE ANY SUCCESS. There so small that it's very difficult. Maybe I'll try again if no one can come up with a supplier.
  21. Stopped by the closest Michael's yesterday and went back today with my 50% off coupons. It's only 2 miles each way. Picked up a can of Testers one coat lacquer black yesterday and an emerald green today. They just started carrying them.
  22. It must have gone off that cliff because all the of pictures have disappeared off my screen. Now it's back and was level. When I refreshed the screen, it went nose down.
  23. This may help. It is from the directions for the 1927 MPC Lincoln which is the same as the 1928.
