  1. Saw that flick when it first came out.
  2. Got that kit and the '36 Ford as presents when I was a kid. Thing was, I was a 1/25 snob and didn't appreciate what I had.
  3. And to be even more pedantic, it's "hoi polloi', not 'the hoi polloi'.
  4. Like it was welded in.
  5. Back when I was building I'd use Goop (it's like Shoe Goo) to glue the motor in place. It allowed me to get that oh-so-perfect s/w gear mesh.
  6. I'd go with the Surfers. Pretty minimalist. Of course, if the manufacturer loved us, they'd include an Enderle injected SBC so's we could build a junior fueler if we wanted to. If the manufacturer loved us.
  7. Thanks. Next question - what the hell were they thinking? No, you don't need to answer.
  8. How much undersized? The engine in the Ala Kart was a 1954 266 ci Dodge Red Ram. I think it was only 27" long? Maybe use it as a start to the Adams & Enriquez junior fueler?
  9. Yes, printers are cheap, because the real money is in the consumables.
  10. From what I remember (it's been years since it was on a track) it ran pretty good.
  11. I cut off the mini-guide blade and screwed in a 2mm (iirc) nut and bolt., then slipped a piece of tubing over it (don't think I need it, though).
  12. Probably a two pole motor like the old Lindberg wind-it-yourself kit motors.
  13. Thought so, but your mods threw me. Good stuff.
  14. What kit?
  15. Sorry for the delay. As soon as I find a way to photograph it, you're on.
  16. One of my pet peeves about those great old flicks. Could also believe that the editor or producer believed that the audience (kids and teens) "wouldn't know the difference. I don't have the time or money to match stock footage - just get this picture out to the drive-ins!"
  17. Good job. I picked up a TSRF chassis years ago, but I dropped a Betta Frisbee CanAm on top of it.
  18. The engine was available with low-rise, medium-rise, or high-rise heads, and either single or double four-barrel carburetors on an aluminum manifold matched to each head design.
  19. Not to worry, John. Like what women do when they all march into the ladies room when out to dinner, it shall remain a mystery.
  20. Always wondered what that controller looked like internally. Any chance ... ?
  21. IIRC Skin So Soft was a good insect repellent, too.
  22. I've always loved the Comp Coupe/Sedan/Roadster class. Good luck.
