  1. It's in the food. Our food.
  2. More Gassers, like a '39 Stude Businessman's Coupe. Two engine options (SBC and a 392) either blown or injected (builders choice), pie-crust slicks, the whole mid-'60s look. Oh, and please, keep it class legal - include two front seats and those damned splash panels. Yup, I prefer early iron. Then you can have all the dull-as-dishwater showroom stock kits you want.
  3. That's something that I'll proudly own up to.
  4. Yeah, I hear ya, Greg, blob undercarriage. That's why, back in the day, I could never get too worked up over the annuals. They were just unassembled promos - not that I knew what a promo was. At the time I couldn't understand why they did it, but now I do. But still ... Maybe if the weren't making kits for "the kids" ... Can't get worked up over the re-issues, either.
  5. The Krauts would start the engine (50 pulses per second) on the ground but needed a steam powered catapult to get it into the air. Makes me wonder what the poor slob driving the push car would be thinking ...
  6. Ya gotta love Gassers.
  7. But ya just gotta love them Gassers.
  8. I guess it depends on your definition of "nose high". I remember the Gasser Wars and, while my memory is admittedly poor, I don't recall any of the competitive cars having too high of an angle off the imaginary level. F'rinstance, to me, this is too "nose-high".
  9. I asked this question in another forum but I would like confirmation: H/G, I/G, J/G, K/G - only flatheads? As with all things drag racing, the wording (to me, anyway) is open to interpretation.
  10. So where exactly do you live? And when exactly are you not home?
  11. I remember an AMT '49 Ford in a real light green. Eventually got blowed up real good.
  12. Agree. Two burgers, small fries, small Coke should only cost 52ยข, too.
  13. Wish I could get the guys that I race with interested in doing something like that.
  14. It looked to me like it was becoming a pissing contest over what is and what isn't art, which had nothing to do with goofy-looking box covers. If you want to sit around the kitchen table drinking beer while eating crackers and cheese and letting the conversation drift, set up a separate thread for it.
  15. Don't intend to restart this thing, but has there been any specific mention of Monogram models in this thing? Or is it assumed that they're part of the Revell product line?
  16. I would say that the Gassers reached the peak of their popularity in 1965. Starting in 1966 the AWB match racers began eroding this popularity, and by 1967 the flip-top funnies replaced them in the hearts of the fickle ticket-buying public. What sort of cars? Jeez. Depression-era anything, post-war Anglias and the like. Coupes, sedans, panels, pick-ups, you name it. Rarely Fords, though, because 1) the carcasses of the other makes were cheaper and 2) the hot-rodders got to them first anyway.
  17. Grunnion banjos. Imagine that. Little fish in a bluegrass band.
  18. Joe - have you tried that paper? Also: does it matter what type of printer? Years ago I tried printing decals on an inkjet and they came out somewhat transparent (I don't recall what setting they printed at). Will decals printed on a modern inkjet be opaque, or is it better to use a laser printer (not that I know how those come out)? Thanks.
  19. Not a 1/24 person, but for these I surely would be.
  20. SfanGoch - Channel 9 was, is, and always will be lame.
  21. Thanks, gents. Stifling or stiffening or reinforcement ribs. I was probably trying to remember "stiffening ribs".
  22. What are the ridges in the floor pan called? For the life of me I can't remember.
