  1. Photobucket has, without prior announcement, stopped serving picture links from "3rd party" web sites. That means that a lot of our embedded pictures will not show up. My feelings about this run afoul of our bad word filter, but I do hope that the fleas of a thousand camels settle in their beards. Photobucket pictures will display if you right click the link and select "Display in new tab." This doesn't help the funky display on the article itself, but will at least let you see a picture in an old post. Going forward, I recommend that you just embed the picture(s) directly in the post. You can drag the file into the paperclip region at the bottom of the post editor, or click choose files in the same region. We have unlimited storage on our server, and I removed all storage quotas. Please let me know if you have any problems. This is an incredible pain, but if you used Photobucket links in old posts, please go back, edit the post, and embed the pictures. Thanks, Dave Ambrose

  3. OK. it should be reenabled. Someone please let me know one way or the other. I do apologize. I altered a different setting and don't understand how that one got turned off too.
  4. Thanks for the heads up. The edit function totally needs to be there. I'll get that fixed ASAP.
  5. You need to remove the mold release agent from the body. If you don't remove it completely, you get all kinds of paint drama. I was told to use Westley's Bleche White tire sidewall cleaner. It definitely does the job. I soak it overnight in the stuff, and I haven't had a paint job on a resin model go south due to adhesion problem. I see that you can't get that any more. <huff> I'll have to let others make some suggestions, but it needs to be powerful enough to clean the oil off the resin, but not dissolve the resin itself. My gut feel is that a 50-50 mixture of denatured alcohol, and Windex will probably remove the mold release without affecting the resin. I've been using epoxy to glue things, mostly because I have a lot of it on hand.

  7. The 404 error is one of the problems that's supposed to be fixed by this next update. Hopefully, that will be the case, and we won't be frustrated by it any more. It happens to me as well, so I know you aren't hallucinating.
  8. I was thinking along these lines too. It will probably be along the lines of a pinned topic. Harvesting is pictures from photo bucket is a good idea too. I'll have to figure out how to do that. Any other programmers out there that can deal with MySQL?
  9. I have seen this. Clear your browser cache. That should cure the problem.
  10. This is a very sad day. Harry was a good guy. I will miss him greatly. My prayers and best wishes go out to his family.
  11. Me neither. I'll bet most people don't.
  12. There is a product called Craytex that consists of carborundum grit embedded in some kind of rubber. It comes in various sizes and shapes. I've never tried it on plastic tho.
  13. Pete, Was there a particular reason for choosing 7075?
  14. I ordered an American kit from a Japanese vendor off eBay. He had the best price too. The kit was here in a week and exactly as advertised.
  15. In these situations, I gravitate toward either Step Into Liquid, or The Day the Earth Stood Still.
  16. Quick update: We need to update the forum software. I'm preparing to do that, and I'll have to take the site offline for a few hours. I'll announce the maintenance window ahead of time. It will probably be a weekend night. I'm on the west coast, so east coast people will see very little downtime unless they're night owls. I trust you can all keep yourselves amused for a few hours by building something, like maybe a model car.
  17. As are a few MG enthusiasts in The Colonies, I'm sure. That's a cute idea, even if it does desecrate a sacred MG TC(?).
  18. Very nice. My mother is from Tyler.
  19. The biggest problem with British cars were the electrics, and the dealers. It took me a while to learn how to tune the carburetters, but now that I've figured it out, it's easy. Ironically, parts for MGs are cheaper than their Honda equivalents. Biggest problem is that the rubber parts aren't very durable any more.
  20. The first car I owned was a 1962 MGA. Lovely car, fun to drive, and almost as eccentric as its owner. There were about half a dozen things you needed to know before you could even start it.
  21. I've done it both ways. Spraying on the tree, then touching up works best with flat, non-metallic finishes. But, for the most part, I assemble them into some rational unit, do any necessary filing and fitting, then paint them.
  22. Welcome. you'll fine a lot of nice people and boatloads of good information here. All my childhood builds are gone, and that's probably a good thing. They were generally terrible. My current builds are better, but it's always a learning experience.
  23. Congratulations. I see you went for the twofer. Have fun with them. I have one grandson who should be a pretty smart kid assuming he survives that challenging period between two and three years old.
  24. Sorry, this has strayed into politics, which is one of those verbotten topics. Going to lock it now.
