  1. This last batch of pictures show the color dance that can be obtained simply by adding or removing light sources ! Comparing the first batch with the second , you'd think there were two different cars being photographed rather than one . When I viewed the first set , Virgil , I immediately thought California Sunset . When I saw the second set , Callieco Orange . I know that the pictures don't do it justice , that Cobra's color walks all over the place ! As for my recipes , especially the orange Willys color , you'd have to fight the youngest for that one . It's her color , lottsa luck with the outcome of that donnybrook ! A build to be proud of , Virgil ! You made Crazy Jim's little heart go pitter patter ! Lol !
  2. Very nice ! A golden orange with a subtle flip flop . Bet this one walks under the lighting ! Nice smooth sheen to boot ! I'd say you hit this one out of the park , Virg . Fun , ain't it ? Lmao ! Beautiful work , Buddy !
  3. Let's put it this way , I can have the Paache apart , cleaned , put back together , and painting again , before you have the dual action broken down . This airbrush doesn't need to be taken apart each and every time . Simply flush it out by spraying laquer thinner through it after you're done painting for the day .
  4. The high beam setting on those particular headlights always seemed to be in the on position ! I just hated that ! Lmao !
  5. Paache H series kit ! 3 needles / head assemblies , hose , jars , and the airbrush . $ 63 which includes shipping from dixieart. com !
  6. Great kit ! Fun to paint too ! Clean up isn't too bad , thin mold lines here and there , nothing major . If it's molded in white , how about the color I gave you the recipe for ? If not that , British Racing Green Metallic ? Sky's the limit , colorwise here , Virgil ! What a great subject for a wild color !
  7. Tom, I use the glass bottles for mixing . For storage , I use either the glass jars or the paint jars themselves and mark an M on the top to indicate mixed paint . As for Kathie , I don't believe that ! She does not speak to strange men ... And you ? You are really a strange man ! Lmao !
  8. Rob , You cannot enter a show winner again in any show , once it wins in any particular show it's retired except for a display table . This is for the car shows , strange , as many years that I've been involved with the trains , I've never entered a competition with them . The car shows are an education unto themselves , far more good than bad ! I love them , some just need a bit of tweaking ! Lol !
  9. Davy , Regardless of what our ladies tell us , let's face it , we just aren't that cute ! Hungover the day of the NNL East ? We'd be just plain ugly ! Lmao !
  10. Hey , Davy ! Just a suggestion from The Old Man ... Take some black pastel chalk and brush it over the beer barrels . I think you'll be pleased with the results ! Speaking of which , I'll buy you one at Cheeseburger's in April ! Lol ! Great save , by the way !
  11. In my book , it doesn't change a thing !!! Level playing field for all ! Internal turmoil is just as bad for a club as external when it comes to judging ! Please understand , this is not pointed at you or anyone else . This is an opinion , based on my observations over the years while attending shows . Who knows ? Maybe some of the guilty parties will read this and it might give them pause ! There is always room for improvement !
  12. So , let me see if I'm on the same page with you . A well known modeler's build is going to be held to an even higher standard than everyone else's build on the table because of who they are ? Of coarse that isn't fair , and shame on the judge that does it ! Does it exist ? It most certainly does ! This is why your well known and prolific builders shun certain shows . The end result when coupled with " spreading the wealth " with the awards, is a run of the mill , average show . When clubs ask why this builder and that builder no longer attend their show , the answer is not that far away ! All they have to do is look in the mirror , that is where it lies !
  13. Andy , You have just taken a very large step towards growing up . Admit your mistake , and then move on . You are not , in my opinion , wholely to blame for all of this , however ! There are a few " adults " here that need to learn not to bait children or stir up the proverbial hornets nest just because they can . You will learn far more by keeping you eyes and ears open , and your mouth closed ! Do you want to become a better modeler ? Attach yourself to Mark Jone's coattails and follow along . This way , you'll learn from the best that there is ! He has shown remarkable patience with you on numerous occasions , If he didn't care , he wouldn't bother with you . Apologize to him , ask for his help , and I think you'll get a first rate modeling education .
  14. D , Kathie and I extend our sympathy to you and yours for the loss of your wife . May God bless and keep you .
  15. Now that is a possibility ! The plastic of the lure boxes does not play well with some of the lures and their physical properties . I've had some of the skirts on my spinner baits melt and turn to jelly if they've been left in the box for an extended period of time.
  16. I watched this occur at an NNL event , the ballot box was , shall we say overly stuffed , with votes for club members builds . The following year , the number of entries was several off by several hundred from the previous show . The club just couldn't understand what went wrong ! Ron is correct ! Individuals travel many hours from all directions to compete and all they ask for is a fair platform to do just that ! By removing / preventing club members from competing in their own show , you remove the taint of bias or favoritism . This is a positive step in the proper direction! The Buckeye Club , which Ron is president of , took a quantum leap beyond that . Each contestant must judge in the contest , picking a 1st , 2nd , and 3rd place from each class ! In otherwords , each individual is judged by their fellow contestants , not the host club . Does this work ? It certainly does ! It sparked a whole lot of discussion amongst the modelers themselves all day long . This is an up and coming show , held by individuals who have done their homework , and is a showcase as to how model car shows should be run. I strongly urge those who enjoy competing to attend ! I have a feeling that within a very short period of time , this will be "the " show to attend in the coming years !
  17. It's been one of those haunted body things , like I said , 4 times in the fluid ! I'll get it , just a matter of time . Usually , when this occurs , the end result is right on the money . I'm looking forward to it. , I really like the kit and I think it will build up into a great street machine or pro street car .
  18. Virgil , Hopefully by tomorrow I'll have pics on the way of the Impala interior . I have to place an order with Dixieart for more jars . Think it's about time to start playing with the spoons again .
  19. You two are not allowed to hang out together ! Bad things are gonna happen , I just know it !
  20. As to the question on the headers . There is only a factory stock class at the shows . Simply provide documentation with the build proving that the headers were available and installed at the dealer , you're covered ! If you don't , you might lose a few points, not a great big deal overall . From past observation , you won't have a thing to worry about , the judges won't notice the difference !
  21. Meant to ask you , did you like the color combo on the '53 Ford . I will be using different color bases here shortly. The black base has really offered up some colors that I wouldn't have thought possible !
  22. Nope ! I am running out of room in the flashout cabinet , though ! Weather has been playing a factor , but I'm more focused on building right now . I hope to have the '62 Impala finished by next week . Once that is completed. , I can go back into the booth and start experimenting with the Pearl X powders again . There are times , even if I were an octopus , I wouldn't have enough arms to handle all the irons in the fire ! Lol ! I'm trying , guys , honest !
