  1. On second thought , Terry , that might not work out for you ! After eating that chocolate cake with butter cream icing , you might not fit under that Bug !
  2. Stu , Just my opinion , I'd pull the wires down tighter. Your model , your call .
  3. Mike , Wait for the DVD , you'll see what happens in between coats , you keep on misting it on ! Lol ! G Ayup ! Me and Lady Trial & Error were bed buddies for too many years not to know about 'Ol Humidity . I always preach , paint early spring , prep in summer , paint early fall , build in the winter !
  4. Monty , With all that's going on right now , maybe after the New Year . As to the flashout time , there really isn't a timetable . Reason being , temperature and humidity play a large part during the paint process which in turn affects flashout . My shop is kept at 68 degrees when I'm airbrushing , this way , I have the same results on a constant basis , in other words , very few surprises ! I can depend on a three day window for flashout , then it's onward for clearing , polishing , etc . Temperature control is an integral part of controlling your paint environment .
  5. Yes ! It will work with all Testors enamels !
  6. Wayne , Temperature might have played a part in this too . I have been racking my brain about your post so I went back and read through your original post . That is where I saw that you had painted in the garage when it was cold . This will affect both flashout time and your gloss , both time tables are going to be altered by temperature , it becomes a slower process . Thus will affect both flashout time and your gloss
  7. Have you taken it all the way up to 12000 ? If you have , now it's time to polish it out . I polish my cars out with Novus 2 using 100% soft cotton t shirt or batting . Once you have a bright smooth overall shine , apply The Final Treatment's Detail Wax .
  8. Monty , DVD will be mailed out in the morning , should be there within 2 to 3 days , at the latest Monday . Thank you , you won't regret it , I guarantee it ! Please do not tackle the mailman like Virgil did , he hurt 3 of them trying to get into the mailbag ! Lol !
  9. But they're so tough on the Internet ..... Lol! Nope , only the sedan has them ! Such beautiful casted mags too , shame that no one ever offered these up ! Come to think of it , brain storm ! I think I'll contact our boy at MAD , see what he thinks ! If I don't get back to you tonight , then definitely tomorrow morning on that cover !
  10. Yer gonna get a beat down , yer gonna get a beat down ! Lol ! I'll check for you on that timing cover , looks very familiar to me ! The AMT '39 / 40 sedan also has the Cragar mags if that helps !
  11. That would have been my Mustang ! The logo was left on there on purpose as a joke / bet with a buddy of mine , a thumbing of the nose so to speak ! As for the spoiler , I mounted it as I wanted it to be placed . Quite a few of the spoilers back in the day were mounted as such . I liked it , therefore , it became just that ! Always follow Rule 1 , These are my models ! Irreverence is complete and utter bliss in my book , I build as I please . Donn Yost
  12. Terry , AMT 1937 Chevy , I'm almost positive ! At work , will check when I get home ! Not to be a killjoy ... You commented on the fussiness of this particular forum's "rules " . You would be better served to use either the Cragars from the AMT 1937 Chevy or the ' 65 El Camino kit . They have the Cragar logo on the cap , the MRC mags do not ! Check your photo , the logo is quite visible !
  13. Ahhh ! , I see ! The possibilities are endless going this route ! The Pearl X powders shot over such a color would really dance , Russet Red comes to mind ! Keep us posted as to how this turns out .
  14. Lmao ! So that's why my ears were burning ! I was getting yelled at .... Again ! I have far more control over that blade then I do a pair of tweezers .If the blade slips a tiny thin mark , tweezers slip , big gouge in the paint ! Give it a few days , let it flashout , patience is the key . Word of caution ... Anytime you are shooting with pearls or metallics , always keep full pressure during your passes . Otherwise the airbrush can spit and leave tiny blobs of color . As time goes on , you'll find yourself painting more than a few at a time . It is addicting , just ask Virgil ! By doing so , you put yourself way ahead of the game and you can build at your leisure while the bodies flashout . Boyds Dusty Rose Pearl on the body ? Nice work !
  15. George , Start at 4000 under cold running water , sanding lightly until the debris in the paint disappears . If 4000 doesn't do it , step down to 3200 , work your way back up to 12000 . You need to lightly sand overall on the body , this way your color will all be uniform to match the roof . After all debris is removed and the finish is smooth , wash it off , blow dry the body with compressed air , then begin applying your clear coats . After flashout , follow the steps in the DVD for polishing out .
  16. Virgil , My cabinets are old medical office stock , closest thing out there now can be found at Sears in their tool dept . I believe it is a two shelved unit that can be mounted to a wall .
  17. I don't get it , who's da devil from Pgh ? Hope you were paying attention on the bare metal foil segment ! Good Lord ! You have got your work cut out for you ! As pretty as the paint work is , the chrome work will really set them off , wait and see ! I have a feeling Eyegore is about to learn a whole new vocabulary , none of it repeatable outside the shop ! Bwahahahaahahaha !
  18. Talk to Doctor Cranky , he has it down to a science . There is also a book available he authored which is worth it's weight in gold when it comes to said subject !
  19. Sooooo ! How does it feel swingin' in the breeze up there ? Lol ! Go to one IPMS show without the hood completely painted .... Down in flames ya go ! Lesson learned long ago and far away ! The Old Man
  20. Chuck , You are correct ! A deeper blue will bring it out . Anytime you use a similar base color , the Pearls help create a subtle flipflop . Far from gaudy , it is a suprising change that flows with direct light . The slightest movement of light or the body will cause the color to shift and change.
