What's the story behind your user name/avatar?
Romell R replied to JollySipper's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Well Romell was the name of a lil boy my mother had a crush on when she was in grade school, so she gave it to me about 44 years ago. and my avatar repersent what we all should strive to be "The Greatest" on the picture Muhamid Ali states " I am the Greatest, I said that even before I knew I was" -
I hate the part where I burn my fingers from holding on to metal while im cutting it with a dremel cutting wheel , Man! brass can get hot! Or the part where i grab the soldering iron by the hot part cause im not watching what im doing....or when you get superglue in your eye cause you try to take the cap off with your teeth, but heres my all time least favorite part of building models .....when I have to go to the emergency room for stitches cause I didnt properly use an exacto knife by cutting away from my fingers. Yep those are the good ol days.

Thx Jeff got a little more detail to add to the collection I wanted to beautify the already beautiful rims that Jim a.k.a. Micro Nitro turned for me so lets get on with it shall we..... I took these and drilled them for valve stems from Robert at RB Motion.... I also drilled out each hole in the beadlock plate for .031 dia. socket head cap screws also from RB Motion.... Heres the rear rim put together with all the new details, valve stems and socket head..... also drill the front rims for stems too.... I hope you enjoyed this small update come back later I plan to make one more tonight.... -

Very Nice fellas lots of nice weathering goning on and thats what I think the key to a successful dio is. I have the parts I need comming (was able to make a really good deal with a buddy here on the forum for the parts) now I just need to make them look realistic. I also noticed that placement is important to realisum . looks like i'll be doin alot of reserch for my shop build.

1/16 Scale Army Vega Funny Car - Finished 10/14/2018
Romell R replied to Mooneyzs's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
The reason I asked Chris is with all the work you have involved in being technically correct , Im not sure the lenco you have is period correct. meaning the one we can buy from TDR is a more modern version of the lenco, the lenco i've seen from the 70's is different, and doesnt use airshifters, it uses levers. Now i could be wrong but double check before you drop that tranny in. In any case keep up the outstanding work! -

You are correct Richard some cars do run self starting systems some dont and most of the Promods Ive seen run two batterys. Thanks for the great compliments Bart but rest assured I have alot of work ahead of me before i get started on the camaro. -
Is it possible...
Romell R replied to SuperStockAndy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This is actually my rule , "never start a new one unit the one im working on is done", because I have a bad habbit of not finishing if I do. I put a batmobile down 20 years ago and it hasnt seen day light since, the same with the VW bug I put it down for. And just recently I put down an awesome project that will never get finished by my hands. So for me I have to keep working on the same project or it just becomes a waste of time. -
John thats a very nice collection , you should make a dio of turn 1 and put all those cars on it , it would look like and entire field of racers. LOL! keep up the outstanding work and thx for sharing with us.

68 Camaro El General Pro Mod (updates 05/06/12)
Romell R replied to tyrone's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Tyrone you want to get Alclad burnt iron and mist it onto the chrome, And may I suggest that you strip the headers and redo the chrome job first, If you want a really good lokking chrome finish. when you apply Alclad Chrome you first want to paint your part with the shinniest gloss black you can find. let that totally dry then just barely mist on at low pressure (11 lbs) one coat of Alclad chrome as soon as you see it start to look shinny stop spraying! The number one mistake people make with Alclad is over spraying. Once you have that done let it dry then spray the burnt Iron the same way but even lighter. this should give you the effect your going for and it should look very close to the headers in Dave's pic. -
This constitutes it as a model, and what a good Job you have done on it I might add!
