Tamiya Paints - hard to get

The bottles actually look like the same size as the Testors square bottle. Capacity is irrelevant when I'm more concerned about the product contained therein. Charlie Larkin -
I have no idea how I missed this before. Very nice job on this. I like the colors, too. Charlie Larkin

I've never seen their enamel paints for sale anywhere. I'm curious about them, too. Charlie Larkin -
The yellow doesn't look bad on it, I have to admit. And I usually don't like yellow too much. Very nice build. I wouldn't mind a real 1987-88 Thunderbird at all; I always thought those were nice-looking cars. Charlie Larkin

Hmmm...Electric Tweety Bird Pearlescent with matching interior. Geez, you could almost drive without the lights on. Nice build, Jim. Charlie Larkin

What are you wanting for Fathers day?
charlie8575 replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well, my parents, if all goes well, will be getting their wish for the last couple of years, and me moving out again... Come to think of it, that's kinda my wish, too. Charlie Larkin -

The nice cars should be kept around. Wouldn't mind a few of the beach bunnies, either. Charlie Larkin -

Consider it done. I think we might have corresponded once or twice, but it's always troubling to hear about illness amongst us. Charlie Larkin -

Nice job by your club on the pier! How did you guys do the water? Charlie Larkin -
Bodies aren't bad. Do they come with an interior? Charlie Larkin

Talk about a missing in action model. I would like to see one of these in 1/25, too. I always thought these were nicely-styled, well-proportioned cars. Charlie Larkin

It's that warm, sunny part of the year...oh wait, that's right, England doesn't have that. That may be why you're not familiar. Here in New England, it tends to be a bit humid, too at times, although this summer seems to be shaping up to be three months of March/early April. Charlie Larkin -

C'mon guys....do it in 1/25, too! I'll buy one, seriously. Charlie Larkin -
What do you drive?

Michelle, I have a 1994 Roadmaster with the LT-1 in it. About now, your Opti-Spark, assuming it's original, is going to start to have trouble in all likelihood. If the car starts running like it has dead cylinders, skipping, idles poorly, or similar issues, the Opti-Spark has begun to pick up water and/or oil, and believe me when I say this is not a fun job. I have been told that in an F-Body, figure at least 6-8 hours to do it because of the tight confines. You'll need to remove the water pump, and I think in your case, the radiator to get enough space to work. After doing that, the Opti-Spark distributor is located behind the water pump. You'll need to remove the distributor, and change the seals behind it. If the Opti-Spark has picked up any moisture or other contamination, it will need to be at the very minimum, re-gasketed, usually, it will need to be replaced. I would recommend using an MSD or Accel replacement part for several reasons, one of which being they seal much better, and the other being they are considerably less money than the AC-Delco replacemnt (about half the cost, or less.) A company called Delteq makes an adaptor that will allow you to re-route the ignition cables to a set of Northstar-style ignition coils. This system, apparently, lengthens the life of the Opti-Spark unit by reducing the voltage going through the unit. It unquestionably makes service easier, but the distributor must be properly functioning to install this unit, so you might as well do it before changing it over. You can find the system here. http://www.delteq.com/ Not cheap, but appears to be an effective long-term solution. Nice find on that Firebird. Charlie Larkin -
Now for something different! I like it. Is Hendrix no longer casting? Charlie Larkin

Nice little Volks. I definitely do want to get one of those kits. Charlie Larkin

I like the idea of working with the several NNLs. I believe they're all independent, but perhaps they could coordinate some effort. I do think the idea of a show-quality build, though, is a good thing. While people are primarily about giving money, they should be given some return for their money. Perhaps for a CBP, all participants can build, and we can use the board as the coordination point? Charlie Larkin

1:24 or 1:25 Steam engine/boiler?
charlie8575 replied to Chuck Most's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You might be able to dummy something up with a cardboard tube, pieces of balsa for the end, brass or plastic rod/tube for the tubes, and a box of flat-head straight-pins for the rivets. The hinges on the back plate can be simulated with part of a plastic fork cut out, curved side in, or some flat/thin rectangle styrene strips for those. The stack can be made with styrene tube. Prime with black primer, spray with gloss black paint, you're ready to go. Charlie Larkin -

I think there's a Top-Loader in the AMT 1966 Fairlane/1967 Comet, but I'm not certain if that 4-speed is or not. Charlie Larkin
