  1. News, good news! Charlie Larkin
  2. I like the notebook idea. Charlie Larkin
  3. I love those Hudson pickups from the 1930s. It would be different- and think of all the neat hot-rods you could get out of them, plus the multitude of opportunities for light commercial and replica-stock builders. I would also buy a Tucker or two. I always thought those were fascinating cars and deserve replication in plastic. The creative amongst us could modify the kit to replicate the replica Tuckers being made a while back that used FWD Cadillac Northstar drivetrains mounted out-back. Charlie Larkin
  4. Toothache. A little short on cash- important because insurance is up in the air at the moment. So much fun at 3:00 A.M. Charlie Larkin
  5. Very nice! Charlie Larkin
  6. Nicely done. Good for a body-shop diorama. Charlie Larkin
  7. The heirs turned down a free restoration by Mercedes-Benz, and all offers to purchase??? I'd call them stupid and pig-headed, but I think I'd be giving them too much credit. These cars are quite pretty. I have one downstairs I'll build sometime. Perhaps for NNL-East next year. Christian or Skip, do either of you know if that correct engine green (or something reasonably close) is attainable? Charlie Larkin
  8. I'm liking making it a front engine/rear transaxle affair a'la newer Corvettes and rope-drive Tempests. The front engine would also allow for use of the turbocharger, which would be a fun car to say the least. The basic concept, final execution not withstanding, is very interesting. Charlie Larkin
  9. Everything Bill said. I don't know about Tennessee, but a total here doesn't always mean a salvage title automatically, especially if the insurance comapny doesn't take the truck. Where you weren't at fault, they probably won't take the truck. Even if it's salvage-branded, you can usually get it removed with an inspection by a qualified mechanic, or police. In Massachusetts, it requires an inspection by the Massachusetts State Police, and runs about $100. Considering it can save most, if not all, of the value of the truck, it's money well-spent if the inspection passes. As long as the frame isn't bent, it probably won't get "totaled," but they will probably make you a cash offer. Take it, get a bumper, and get it installed and painted. Charlie Larkin
  10. The marble white with the red pattern interior is rather sharp. I'm seriously considering getting one of these kits for something totally off-the-wall different for me. And yes, I'd be interested in an interior decal sheet. Charlie Larkin
  11. Got a coat of primer on, and the texture is gone. After sanding two coats of white Plasti-Kote smooth, it's a good painting surface now. I'll be opening the antenna hole before putting the top-coats on. Charlie Larkin
  12. Very well done. Charlie Larkin
  13. Those photos are perfectly good. That model is very nice. Charlie Larkin
  14. Hmmm...popsicle sticks? What a great idea. Charlie Larkin
  15. If I have the funds, I'll pay the price. This is a beautiful kit and Citroens are weird and neat, and I always liked DS-19s. If they do the wagon, I'll get one of those, too. And yes, I'd buy one of those Marquis', as well. Honestly, I still think a 1975-78 LTD would be a very good seller for police modelers, and rep-stock builders alike. We need to take the dare, and if they do the product RIGHT- not a lot of Revell "right," as James pointed out, or Trumpeter "right" (egad!,) I'm talking Moebius/Tamiya/Ebbro right, I'd buy one even if it were $40-50. Charlie Larkin
  16. My kit also had that camera-case texture to it, but I elected to say nothing, until Dave and/or Art had a chance to say anything, in an effort to avoid unnecessary eruptions. I do, however, stand by my comments. The overall detail and as-observed engraving is quite good. As I don't generally trust unprimed parts (too many problems over the years,) I'll be hitting these with some white primer, and will probably give the body a light pass with some 1000-grit sandpaper to help smooth out the body a bit prior to any coating to be sure because...well, it's just me. I'd still buy another one. I might, too for one of MCW's Hollywoods. Charlie Larkin
  17. Very nice, Chuck. The door removal was very clean. Charlie Larkin
  18. I can't get into the wheels, but with the rake, they don't look too bad. That color is gorgeous. Charlie Larkin
  19. The price has adjusted to $64.92. If the Japanese are selling it at that price, I DREAD to see what the U.S. price will be! Meh, the heck with it, these are cool. Charlie Larkin
  20. I got mine today! Well, last night. Overall, another excellent job. Good body fidelity and the interior looks right. Waiting for the brougham to come out later. Charlie Larkin
  21. Been listening to Toby Keith a bit lately, eh, Mike? Charlie Larkin
  22. Actually, I usually do soak my plastic parts overnight. I've had a few problems with paint adhesion, so if it looks/feels like there's a lot of mold release agent, I leave in soapy water for 6 hours-overnight/sometimes a few days if I get busy. The oily film I usually have in the water speaks for itself... Re: resin, I'll try the wipe-down next body I get ready, which may be sooner rather than later. Charlie Larkin
  23. Very nice, Ron. I'll look forward to your accuratizing (is that even a word? It is now!) the '66 Wildcat. I've been trying to figure out what I can use to cobble together that I/P for quite some time. I plan on grabbing a Missing Link '65 to use a good Wildcat Interior I have, and then finagle the rest of it. Charlie Larkin
  24. The pictures have disappeared? Charlie Larkin
