  1. I have one of these. I got a really good deal on it a few years back and jumped on it. I'm planning on the dark blue per the Tamiya instructions with a tan interior. I'm thinking about building a carriage house setting similar to what you'd see in some of the nicer suburbs of Boston for it with some nice pre-war Euro-brougham and perhaps one of Tamiya's M-B 4-doors, if I can scare one up. Seems like a very fitting combination of product. Great job on this. Charlie Larkin
  2. One of the reasons I'm trying to stock-pile as much as possible. I have a lot of restoration projects that need little odds and ends and I plan on acquiring it all, plus another few kits. I'm hoping someone truly worthy (or a few people pooling talent and/or resources) steps up and keeps a critical business going, assuming their other two kids or some other succession plan is in place. Charlie Larkin
  3. I want to see what the end product is; if I like what I see, I'll seriously consider 1/each at least. Charlie Larkin
  4. Looking good. Charlie Larkin
  5. About the only thing I'd do different is a tan interior. That aside, looks great. Your pictures are good, too. Nothing to worry about. Charlie Larkin
  6. Gee, my friends told me I should so I could show them how it's done! In the more good news department, picked up some more contract work. I might actually crack the average monthly amount of earnings for the poverty line before the end of the month if this keeps up! Charlie Larkin Moxie- the tonic of champions. Only another New Englander will understand. Charlie Larkin
  7. My grandfather met the landing party on the beach (paratrooper.) I fear we may be facing similar battles to come in other parts of the world. I hope we can draw the lesson of the Greatest Generation in those battles- resolve, fortitude and bravery, which, when combined with skilled leadership, will secure the victory we must have. Tyranny will never rest. Neither can we. Charlie Larkin
  8. Congratulations and best wishes to all of you. Charlie Larkin
  9. Ever doubt good people exist? I never did, and this proof. Well done. Charlie Larkin
  10. Lots of good stuff in the last couple of weeks. Have a little contract gig starting up. I have a small modeling-related business that I think will be producing starting this summer. I decided to run for mayor of our city, so far, I've had very positive response. And today, just for fun when it was announced on the noon news, I went into Boston and tried out for Who Wants to be A Millionaire. Didn't make the cut, but it was fun, and I'd definitely go back and give it another shot. Charlie Larkin
  11. Nice setup. Curious- which hobby shop did you get the racks from? Charlie Larkin
  12. All these beautiful cars. Great work, all. Charlie Larkin
  13. I'll be honest, the model isn't my cup of tea. But I really like that bare-steel effect- good to keep in mind for projects that might require it. Charlie Larkin
  14. I like the color on it. Reminds me a little of the Luminous Jade that was offered around that time. Charlie Larkin
  15. Sounds like a research sabbatical and time to enjoy the weather. The northeast suffered WAY too much this year. I'm trying to spend as much time as I can outside now just so I can see what it looks like without snow! Charlie Larkin
  16. Very good price. I want one of these and the Opel. Charlie Larkin
  17. Actually, around here, from what Dad's said, Ambassadors, and Ramblers generally sold very well. I would hazard a guess that the difference in wheelbase is the amount to shorten the chassis? Anyone actually try shortening it that isn't Juha? That man does stuff you're not supposed to be able to do. Charlie Larkin
  18. I've assembled most of the engine and chassis on mine. The air pressure regulator on my compressor failed and screwed up the paint on the body, so it's stripping. So far, EXCELLENT. I concur with Chuck- I think some minor adjustments were made to the previous issues- parts fit is much better than my '53. The only real gripe I had was the finish of the plastic and there was a bit of heavy flash on the hood. Some of that eggshell-type finish, at least on my kit, is visible through a couple of pieces of chrome. I'm going to try stripping them, polish them out and re-shoot with Al-Clad to fix the issue. Those couple of things aside- kit of the year to date. Charlie Larkin
  19. I like it. Charlie Larkin.
  20. Very nice work so far. Charlie Larkin
  21. Agreed. Charlie Larkin
  22. Apparently, Todd Rundgren was the first to record "Love Is the Answer," not England Dan and John Ford Coley. I found this out a couple of months back. I like Todd's version a lot. Charlie Larkin
  23. Well said, Pete. Charlie Larkin
  24. Beautiful work so far. I also vote for the biscuit interior. Charlie Larkin
