  1. I, too, have that problem with these. I love that generation Grand Prix. Great-looking car. Charlie Larkin
  2. All the electrical problems have become too much for me to deal with, but with all the stuff in the car, I'm not selling it to junk it, still way too soild for that, but great for someone that wants to tinker with it and understands automotive electrical systems (at least newer ones) better than I do. I plan to take the money and use it towards another B wagon of some kind. I do like having one of those around. The Lumina is a nice little car that's easy on gas, but a Caprice/Roadmaster/Customer Cruiser is SO much nicer on long trips. Charlie Larkin
  3. I need the cases. I want the Power Wagon! Charlie Larkin
  4. The Del Rio was indeed a Nomad competitor. It used the interior trim from the Country Sedan (Fairlane 500) and was trimmed outside appropriately. The Nomad was in the Bel Air series. While the Nomad was more unique, from a cost and market standpoint, they were competition for each other. With that said, I do agree with the calls for a thoroughly modern, correct 1957 Nomad, and as these kits are indeed models of directly-competitive products, is well within the bounds of on-topic. 5. Very nice, Charlie. Are you going to NNL-East? If so, that'll be a big hit even on the WIP table. Whether there, Classic Plastic or LIARS, I'll enjoy seeing the end results. I always do with your projects. Some great craftsmanship. Charlie Larkin
  6. This is an impressive rig. Nice work, Dan. Charlie Larkin
  7. I picked this up in January. It's 1992 Chevy Lumina Euro. I got it on absolute auction on eBay for $985. Only 86k and change when I got it. It has about 90k on it now. From the looks of things, it was someone's "Cape Car-" kept as a second car in a garage down on Cape Cod at a summer house. Even with the 3-speed auto, it's good on gas, nice on the road. I miss my Roadmaster for long trips (two emergency trips to Long Island to help a friend,) but the car itself is quite nice overall. The only thing it needed when I got it was a fuel filter and the torque converter clutch to be unplugged, as it wasn't releasing, and causing the engine to stall. It shifts a little odd sometimes, but my mechanic said it should be a major problem. I'll be getting an ATF change prior to heading to NNL-East. It needs a little surface rust cleaned up, but it's very solid and clean overall. I definitely got a good deal on this. Charlie Larkin
  8. I haven't seen this at my hobby shop yet. It sounds as though they've hit the shelves? I'll check a couple of the other hobby shops in the area if Spare Time doesn't get them on-hand this week. Charlie Larkin
  9. Beautiful work. I like the color. And I'll keep an eye open for that wood sticker. Charlie Larkin
  10. Especially nice job on the under-hood area. Very sharp build overall. Charlie Larkin
  11. Very nice job, Jake. Charlie Larkin
  12. Very nice work, Mike. What program were you using for the decal? I've used Open Office Draw to make graphics with reasonable success. Charlie Larkin
  13. I like the WWWs. A car very similar to the model (and I think the actual car the model is based on) lives near me; its colors match the box-art car perfectly- a mirror-gloss maroon body with black fenders and trim and black interior. And yes, this car was built in Rolls' Springfield, Ma. plant. Very nice build. Charlie Larkin
  14. I like it. Very nice build. Charlie Larkin
  15. Dong an Olds is a bit of a task. The biggest issue will be strecthing the frame and front end to the proper length, as I'm assuming that all the length was forward of the main coachwork. Kitchen Table makes a very nice Olds 6, and Ken also has a very nice Pontiac Straight 8, which could probably be massaged into an Olds engine if that's what you need. Charlie Larkin
  16. Good news indeed. I like my other two kits, I'm very sure I'll enjoy this one, too. Charlie Larkin
  17. I find it inspiring. I might prefer a little bigger car, like a Hudson, but the idea is awesome. Charlie Larkin
  18. Habet penitum in constructo ergo sum. I hold interest in building, therefore I am. (Roughly.) Gimme a break, it's 3:35 AM and my last Latin class was in 1993! Charlie Larkin
  19. Looks really nice. The colors work nicely. Charlie Larkin
  20. Nice build, and definitely nothing to be ashamed of. Perhaps one pass less with the transparent blue, but it still looks really good. Charlie Larkin
  21. Very nice diorama and photo. Charlie Larkin
  22. It does looks good. Do you have an overall shot of the diorama so we can see how it assembled? Charlie Larkin
  23. I figured St. Urho HAD to be Finnish. Who else is crazy enough to drink sour milk?! Is the surname Aho a derivative of this? Dang...didn't do a boiled dinner this year. Oh well. Charlie Larkin
  24. Stunning, Bill. Very nice job. Charlie Larkin
  25. Very nice overall. Charlie Larkin
