Hopefully they did a new chassis and don't use the old 6X2 single drive tag axle chassis from the 142 series...and also a new DC16 engine.
-
Looks nice. Not to be picky but 'Cuda and Barracuda are Plymouth, not Dodge, Dodge's E-Body version was Challenger.

Nice result Sean.

BRBO Kenworth K125 **Finished**

Looks great KJ. -
Yes, the wheelbase differs and even the Mustang has different wheelbase than the Falcon, but as mostly everyone know the Mustang is still based on the Falcon platform. The 62-65 Fairlane and 62-63 Meteor chassis are quite different from the Falcon based cars and even tho' the whole front suspension are similar in design as the Falcon based cars close to nothing of the hardware are interchangeable...as I own a real 64 Fairlane I know that's the fact, I have learned it the hard way. Here are wheelbases for 60's Ford's and Mercury's Ford 60-65 Falcon 109.5" 66-70 Falcon 110.9" 59 Fairlane/Galaxie 118" Frame 62-64 Fairlane 115.5" Fairlane/Meteor, 65 Fairlane are 116" but still has the same chassis as the 62-64, the rear axle is ½ " further back. 66-67 Fairlane 116" Falcon based 60-68 Galaxie 119" Frame 64½-70 Mustang 108" Falcon based 71-73 Mustang 109" Falcon based 58-66 Thunderbird 113" 67-71 Thunderbird 115" Mercury 60-65 Comet 114" Falcon based 66-69 Comet 116" Falcon based 70-72 Comet 117" Comet/Maverick 67-70 Cougar 111" Falcon based 62-63 Meteor 115.5" Fairlane/Meteor As you see the Fairlane has 1.5 inch longer wheelbase than the Comet and if you want to build a correct replica you can't go by the wheelbase alone when to decide what chassis to use, the basic design of the chassis also has to be right. So if one wants to change chassis under a 1964 Mercury Comet and want to be correct a Falcon based chassis changed to the right wheelbase is a better choice than the Thunderbolt chassis as that is what the real car has. I don't exactly know where the length in wheelbase differs on the cars based on the Falcon platform, if it's the floorboards or if it's the front subframe that are of different lengths.

I have a real 1964 Ford Fairlane 500 Sports Coupe and the '64 Comet has a different chassis than the '64 Fairlane, the Mercury Comet is based on the Falcon platform (wich also goes for the Mustang), and the 1962-65 Fairlane shares it's chassis with only the 1962-63 Mercury Meteor and it looks different than the Falcon/Mustang/Comet chassis, specially the front suspension setup and the spring towers under the hood. So a Falcon or Mustang chassis is a better choice than the Thunderbolt chassis if you want to be correct...or as Kris said, wait for the '65 Comet and you will get the correct wheelbase. The 1966 and forward Fairlane and Torino was based on the Falcon/Mustang platform tho'. Another thing, the Thunderbolt chassis and front suspension isn't right for a regular Fairlane either as that was modified to fit the big FE 427, anything larger than a 289-302 and maybe a 351W engine needs severe modifiactions to make room for it to fit in a real car.

I don't see the problem...leave it as it is.

FINALLY a stock hight body 46-48 Ford...Thank You Revell.

I asked Keith about these type of decals maybe 3-4 years ago when I ordered some other decals from him, and I even sent him pictures of originals, but nothing yet. But if more people ask about them he might do them, maybe a sheet with several each of the Ramcharger and Super Stock valve cover and air cleaner decals.
-
Even the 426 Race Hemi had Ramcharger 426 and Super Stock 426 decals on the valve covers 1964-65.

Nice work so far Sean The red exhaust stack/air stack piece looks to be from an Ertl International Transstar II Eagle or CO 4070A. I built a Transstar II Ealge back in the 80's and remember that setup. -
I don't know of any but I would like to see an aftermarket decal set with all the decals for the Dodge and Plymouth Max Wedge and Race Hemi engines, every version had it's own decals on the valve covers, and of course the yellow and red air cleaner decals would be nice to have too so one can do a correct replica of the early to mid 60's Mopar race cars. The versions for Dodge were: Ramcharger 413, Ramcharger 426, Ramcharger 426 A, Ramcharger 426-II, Ramcharger 426-III The Plymouth versions: Super Stock 413, Super Stock 426, Super Stock 426-II, Super Stock 426-III

Tyrone Malone ramp kenworth .
Force replied to scummy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It can most likely be done, as the side skirts are molded on to the cab you have to cut them off, cut off the front spoiler from the hood, fix the hole for the hood scoop and fix the mounting holes for the wings on the hood and you will get a long hood 1972-82 W900...the old AMT W925 was a short hood 1968-71. It's a bit harder to do a stock W900 from the Bandag Bandit as the hood on it is more customized, it has the same front spoiler as the Super Boss but it has a molded on hood scoop on top and 1977 Buick Regal headlights. -

Force replied to angelo7's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
The Sagehorn Movin' On truck has a Peterbilt Air Leaf suspension as far as I can tell, it would originally have had torison bars. -

Yes the box on the K100 Aerodyne reads 8V-92T and that was what the Malone transporter trucks had. But I have seen pictures with the old style stamped sheet metal valve covers (both chromed and painted) and the newer cast aluminum (i think) more squarish valve covers on both 8V92's and 8V-71's...so it's more likely the year of manufacturing that decides wich valve cover the engine has....it's my speculation. -

Otherwise the truck you are building could have been re-powered, not uncommon as the engines wear out. -
90-s dump body question
Force replied to Sergey's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There are as many dump body styles as they are manufacturers, no one are exactly alike. My best tip is to look at the manufacturers and decide wich one you like and suits the parts you have best...I don't have any knowledge about US dump body manufacturers tho'. -
Well I know it comes from an old tooling Revell Funny Car or Top Fuel kit developed in the early to mid 70's, they did both 1:25 and 1:16th scale kits back then, I have built a couple of the 1:25th scale kits and still have some in my stash. The engines from the newer Revell/Monogram tooling from the 80's up until the late 90's FC's and TF's are quite a lot different and better,

I hope you will have these 8V-92 valve covers on your website Kurt, I need a couple of sets too. -
Well you started with an old Revell Funny Car or Top Fuel engine wich are a bit crude and really not like the street going versions as you had to build a water pump and such things, other things are the scatter shield clutch can and the different looking oil pan. The clutch can houses a multi disc clutch on these engines and the old TF and FC's had a 2-speed Lenco planetary transmission behind it, you have put an automatic behind it instead and for all I know you could as well have a converter inside the clutch can. Stronger...well that's a good question...it depends on how it's built and what transmission it is, some are fragile as glass and some are strong as steel, and many use the GM 2-speed Powerglide based transmissions in drag racing and they holds up pretty good.

BOSS 429 - 1969 vs. 1970
Force replied to Quick GMC's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
As I said, the Revell 1969 Mach 1 Super Cobra Jet is 1/25th scale and the Revell/Monogram 1970 Boss 429 is 1/24th scale, so the engine can be a bit large for the 69...I don't know as I haven't tried.
