Independent front suspension
Force replied to porschercr's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
The shock towers on these Fords are allways in the way and the original front suspension is not that great, I used to own a 1964 Fairlane up to a few years ago so I know. Even on the A/FX Mustangs and Falcons they removed the towers and springs and had short leaf springs in place of the original strut rods going from the front of the car near the radiator towards the lower control arm, that way they made room for the 427 SOHC. -
Independent front suspension
Force replied to porschercr's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Or even better, a suspension setup with coil over shocks and tubular A-arms, this setup take up less room than McPherson struts. With this kit for 1964-70 Mustangs you get rid of the space taking spring towers and you don't need the export brace and Monte Carlo bar to stiffen up the suspension, and get a lot more room for larger engines and exhaust headers. You might be able to use the front suspension from the Revell 1941 Willys Street Rod, or maybe this one. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Resin-Dropped-Front-Suspension-Control-A-Arms-Spindle-Custom-Slammed-1-24-25/392725886164?hash=item5b704974d4:g:zLcAAOSwov5ebAXz -

AMT kits with automatic transmissions
Force replied to porschercr's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The C6 was made to fit both the 300 I6, 289-351 small block and 351C, the FE and the 335 family 351M-400 and 385 family 429-460, all have different bolt patterns. The C4 was also found behind the FE and the 351M. A little confusing but as I said, all these engines has different bolt patterns and you can't take a transmission from a FE and put it on a small block or 385 family engine and vice versa as the bell housing on the transmissions are different. -
Couldn't agree more, it's interesting to follow your progress and the Lola T70 is one of my favourites. I have also looked for this build and can't understand why it was moved here to this section, the big boyz section were it was before was better or the new "other racing" section...yes the Lola T70 is a car but it's a racing car and not something you drive on the street.

Kit Review! AMT 1961 Ford Skyliner Annual
Force replied to RDean58's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The Skyliner name was used on the 1954 Crestline and 1955-56 Fairlane Crown Victoria with the glass roof insert and the 1957-59 Fairlane 500 and Galaxie Retractable Hard Top...the Galaxie name was introduced in 1959 and the cars had both Fairlane 500 and Galaxie emblems. -
Very nice.

1976 Kenworth VIT 200 Bicentennial (W900)
Force replied to steve1970's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Yes the Papa Truck is a 1976 K100 Aerodyne VIT 200 Bicentennial Edition ordered new from the factory by Malone. Here it is after the transporter body was built and delivered by Transport Equipment Company in Seattle, WA and before any of the later custom touches was done to the truck. And here it is on Bonneville Salt Flats soon efter. After that some changes was made to the paint job, some of the gold disappeared and more red and blue stripes and some scripts was added. -

Can I use a 1/25 trailer on a 1/24 truck
Force replied to keone2013's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It would look way too small. -
Me to. I like your attention to details.

It looks like your carburetor is based on the Revell/Monogram carburetor from the Pro Stock kits and I must say that I don't like them that much. I have been around Holley Dominators plenty and they doesn't really look like the Revell/Monogram carbs wich I think are quite crude, there are much better ones around. But...this one will be under an air box so it might not be that visible.
-
Maybe, if someone wants one bad enough...I wouldn't. The two I have did not cost me nearly as much, I paid something like equivalent to $50-60 each for them not that many years ago.
-
Totally insane, they are model kits, not gold. $500 is the asking price and no bidders, and they are not worth more than people are prepaired to pay for them.

Diamond P Sports did the production for the NHRA series many years shown through TNN, I have all of their year in review video tapes from 1986-1999 and a few other other drag related videos, NHRA released the year in review tapes again on DVD some years back. I bought the first tapes back in 1989-90 and it was on those videos I first saw John Force and has been a fan of his ever since. Between 2007 and 2011 NHRA did year in review DVD's again and a few other drag related DVD's but they stopped...I also have these. But I don't know if the live coverage of the eliminations started by TNN in the mid 90's did the sport any good, drag racing have the tendency to take time with crashes and oil downs and at least I prefer to see taped races. We had a cable channel available to us in Europe called Screen Sport who showed NHRA races back in the late 80's early 90's, this channel disappeared 1993 and we had nothing for many years until the ESPN America channel came 2009 and I could see more...then that channel disappeared 2013 so now we have nothing again. So NHRA TV is the only way I can follow the series as they don't do any DVD's anymore.

Please can we leave this now. The kit will come out eventually and I for one don't buy kits to sell and make money of them, I buy to build...not that it has been much of that lately.

Nice job on this one.

Most Modern Ford Automatic?
Force replied to Plowboy's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
It's a C6 in the Foose truck, so it's a 3 speed. The Roush built engine is an all aluminum FE sideoiler and there aren't many transmissions available that fits to the FE, the old cast iron Cruise-O-Matic, they made a few aluminum C4's with FE bolt pattern, the aluminum C6 and the FMX was also behind FE's, all 3-speed and the C6 is the strongest of them. -

Most of the Revell instructions are quite good...nothing like the old AMT instructions wich can be "a bit vague" to say the least. Even the instructions for the Revell rebox of Moebius International Pro Star and Lone Star kits are more clear than Moebius own instructions. Here are a couple of examples. The Peterbilt "Can-Do" Wrecker. https://public.fotki.com/modeltrucks25thscale/truckkit_instructions/revell/07541_peterbilt_wrecker/ The "Will-Do" https://www.wettringer-modellbauforum.de/forum/index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=308411&h=f41305eece8f22ef8ef20b5f3a222e6d409e9660 The Revell rebox of the Moebis International ProStar. https://public.fotki.com/modeltrucks25thscale/truckkit_instructions/revell/7411-2011-internati/ The LoneStar. https://www.wettringer-modellbauforum.de/forum/index.php?page=Attachment&attachmentID=282871&h=0e6f11ff78122235fb34c4a3685f7f892ac35972

Most Modern Ford Automatic?
Force replied to Plowboy's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Unfortunately Ford didn't think much when they did their engines and transmissions as most Ford engine familys have different bolt patterns (one for the Flathead, one for the Ford Y-block, one for the Lincoln Y-block, two for the 221-351W, 351C and 5.0 small block and early Modular, two for the MEL, one for the FE, one for the 335 family 351M-400 and 385 family 429-460, and one for the Coyote...all different) so Ford had to do different cases for their transmissions to fit their engines, so the C4 had two different patterns and the C6 had three and so on. As most of the later cars from Ford had the 5.0 the C5 and the AOD can be retrofitted on the 1965 or later 289-351W small block, but you can't fit an AOD or any other modern transmission to a FE, 335 or 385 series without an adapter as none of them were made with a case that fits directly. The engineers at GM and Chevrolet was smarter as all Chevy engines has the same bolt pattern, so you can put whatever transmission you want to any of their engines. -
Well said. The Revell Peterbilt Wrecker will probably come out sooner or later as the tooling is still there and usable, so it's just a matter of time. I have two of the Can-Do and one of the Will-Do in my pile and I have all the time in the world to wait for another re-issue, if it comes out again I will most likely buy one more.

A better chassis for the 63 Vette
Force replied to 2zwudz's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Maybe the chassis from the recent Revell 1967 Corvette Convertible or Coupe or the old MPC chassis from the Streaker Vette, Night Stalker, 67 Sting Ray or any other of their C2 kits wich are more detailed than the AMT kit.
