  1. Great build Ken, I love to see your work.
  2. Those instructions are for the new tool 56 Chevy wich came out in the early 2000's, the instructions he asks for is for the old tool kit from the 60's wich is a different kit all together. I have browsed all Revell albums at the Drastic Plastic Instructions folder as they usually have instructions for most kits, but they don't have anything for the old tool 56 Chevy, I found instructions for the old tool 55 and 57 and the new tool 56 kits. I have a set from the old tool 56 Chevy and I scanned them for you, they are not exactly from the kit you have but they have to be quite close as they are from the same tooling .
  3. I bought a model kit from Dennis (Model Express) once several years ago...he sent the kit over here no problem at all.
  4. Well I had saved all this information in my files for my own use and I thought it would be useful for everybody...so that's my main reason for doing it. But I can't take credit for everything because I haven't done all the legwork myself, I have found the information here and there on the web (including here on this forum) and I just put it together in a list so it would be easy to use.
  5. Nice indeed.

So if that's correct the engines would be Cat Hi-Way Yellow from January 1932 until June 1979, after June 1979 New Cat Yellow...except for the cases when the truck manufacturers had their own colors as listed below. The old Cat Hi-Way Yellow were a brighter shade yellow than the New Cat Yellow wich is more to the mustard shade. 9. I have tried to post several times but have had problems with it...not fun when you have put in a lot of time on the post. I try to post a new modified list but just get a page not found 404 when I try.
  10. Yes most likely, the Monogram body is the first version of the Firebird Trans Am body used in the mid 80's, but the racers later modified the Trans Am body with a longer nose and some aero improvements. Don "Snake" Prudhomme used the first version of that body style from 1982 to 1985 and the later version with the longer nose 1987 to 1989.
  11. Very nice executed, the detailing is just right without overdoing it, a model to be proud of.
  12. If you have looked into the box of one of the Polar Lights (now owned by Round 2) Ford Torino Talladega's or Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II's you know that they come with everything needed to do a period correct NASCAR car. The kits themselves are not exactly "Pro Modeler" style and are not easy to build as they needs a lot of work to be a nice model, so on a skill level scale where 3 are most difficult they are about 5...with that I mean very challenging. There are two engines in both kits, a 427 and a BOSS 429 (no 428 as they didn't use that engine in NASCAR) so you can build both versions. These are not difficult to find, there are lots of them on the auction site for around $20-$25. Models we need IMHO is new tool kits of 1963 and 1964 Ford Galaxies...the old ones AMT did are ...well old and leaves lots to desire...so we need more correct ones...they can be based on the 1960 Ford Galaxie Starliner tool as the chassis and drive train can be used from that kit...but we need new bodys, interiors and bright parts.
  13. That was my original thought when I put the lists together...I thought it was good useful information for all truck builders...but the moderators haven't noticed and pinned the topic as I thought they would. This topic consists of two different topics merged together and further in I listed these truck diesels again and I also did a list of resin truck diesels as well as a list of truck engine colors...as I said...useful information for a truck model builder. These lists are not exactly up to date right now as some have dissappeared and some have been added since they were put together, but as we can't edit old posts anymore I can't fix it. But here is the link to my original lists wich are in this topic:
  14. Great idea and you got a cool build there.
  15. Nice work John, and so fast...I'm impressed.
  16. I got mine today and I can't do anything else than agree...they are very very nice. Thanks for your work Rico.
  17. I was asked if I had pictures of John Force's old cars a couple of days ago so I put this post together. This is a picture rich post but I hope you don't mind, all pictures are gathered on the web over the years and all credits goes to the original photographers and it spans from the first Funny Car he ever ran up to today 1973-74 The rear engined 71-73 Mustang John ran with his brother Louie, I think this was a former Jack Chrisman car. 1975 Chevy Vega FC 7726 1976 Chevy Monza FC 7726 1977 Chevy Monza FC 7726 1978 Chevy Corvette FC 723 1979 Chevy Corvette FC 8 Early 1980 Chevy Corvette FC 8 Late 1980 Chevy Citation FC 8 1981 Chevy Citation FC 723 1982 Chevy Citation FC 723 1983 Chevy Camaro FC 723 1984 Chevy Camaro FC 4 1985 Chevy Corvette FC 723 Early 1986 Chevy Corvette FC 5 Late 1986 Chevy Cavalier FC 5 1987 Olds Firenza FC 4 1988 Olds Cutlass FC 4 1989 Olds Cutlass FC 3 1990 Olds Cutlass FC 6 1991 Olds Cutlass FC 1 1992 Olds Cutlass FC 1 1993 Olds Cutlass FC 2 1994 Chevy Lumina FC 1 1995 Pontiac Firebird FC 1 1996 Pontiac Firebird FC 1 Early 1997 Pontiac Firebird FC 1 Late 1997 Ford Mustang FC 1 1998 Ford Mustang FC 1 1999 Ford Mustang FC 1 2000 Ford Mustang FC 1 2001 Ford Mustang FC 1 2002 Ford Mustang FC 1 2003 Ford Mustang FC 1 2004 Ford Mustang FC 3 2005 Ford Mustang FC 1 2006 Ford Mustang FC 3 2007 Ford Mustang FC 1, after Eric Medlens passing after the test crash in Gainesille FL John used FC 4 as a tribute to him, John himself crashed in Dallas TX and got injured and couldn't finish the year. 2008 Ford Mustang FC 7 2009 Ford Mustang FC 7 2010 Ford Mustang FC 9 2011 Ford Mustang FC 1 2012 Ford Mustang FC 9 2013 Ford mustang FC 9 2014 Ford Mustang FC 1 2015 Chevrolet Camaro FC 2 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS FC 7 2017 Chevrolet Camaro SS FC 4 2018 Chevrolet Camaro SS FC 7 2019 Chevrolet Camaro SS FC One thing you might notice is that the Funny Car bodies looked a lot more like the cars they were supposed to be up to 1999, after that NHRA lightened and changed the rules and we got the ugly wedge shaped bodies with a bump on top for the driver we have now.
  18. And this has to do with "Car Kit News & Reviews" in what way???? But it's not a huge mystery why the 50 Olds beat the old 30's and 40's Ford's who had flatheads in them. Oldsmobile and Cadillac got Over Head Valve V8 engines in 1949 (Olds Rocket 303 cui and Cadillac 331 cui), both became very popular and were put in various cars to replace the old original less powerful engines if you wanted your car to go, Chrysler did their first OHV V8 1951 (331 cui), DeSoto 1952 (276 cui) and Dodge 1953 (241 cui) these were the first generation Hemis, Ford got their first OHV V8 engine (239 cui Y-Block) 1954 and the Chevrolet and Pontiac OHV V8 came 1955 (Chevy 265 cui small block and Pontiac 287 cui). So in short, the OHV V8's was better, more efficient and more powerful than the old flathead V8's. I don't know why you mention the 50 Ford Coupe tho', it still had a flathead as FoMoCo didn't do the OHV engine until 1954 as i mentioned...even the Mercury wich also had the same basic flathead V8 as the Ford's at the time had more horse power output...but the 49-51 Ford's and Mercury's was often re-powered with Cadillac or Oldsmobile OHV engines.
  19. I agree, it's the easiest way to do a coil spring and you can do whatever diameter, length and distance between the coils you need to make it look right...I have often used soft wires to do coil springs and do as Peter explains, stretch it out a bit so the coil looks even and the spacing looks right. Using functional springs on a static model is just to make it more difficult than it has to be.
  20. Don't worry, I did not take it that way. But a list of aftermarket suppiers for truck models would be a good thing...I don't know if doing a detailed list of what they have would be necessary if they have a website.
  21. That's what I usually do and they get quite even.
  22. That list includes resin diesel engines and who does them...but it was a while ago so it may have to be updated some as I know a few more has been done since then, in that same topic a bit further down I listed the engine colors for most American truck diesels. My original thought was that these lists would be pinned as it's good information for truck builders because frequently asked questions in the truck categories are "where can I find (fill in manufacturer and type) truck engine", and "what color is (fill in manufacturer and type) engine", that's why these lists should be pinned somewhere so they are easy to find...I had to search the forum for a while to find that specific topic now. I have these lists on my hard drive but that's not the case for everyone else, and I did them to help others. To list everything made for truck kits on the aftermarket would be a huge task and the availabillity changes as old stuff dissappears and new stuff being added, so it's easier to list the companies...with websites if they have one...and you can see for yourself what's available.
