I might be stupid but isn't the Ranchero based on the 2 door wagon body style? If the Ranchero market is thin the Del Rio market should be about the same...I mean, a lot of people have asked for a correct Ranchero for ages as the old one is far from it, on the other hand I haven't heard many asking for a Del Rio Ranch Wagon kit, but they did a kit of it anyway...and at the same time didn't think further so it could be done as a Ranchero as well...a bit strange thinking if I may say. If I was planning a new tool for a car model I would try to get as many possibillities as I can for this tooling so I can get the most out of the investment. I just hope Blitz/Revell doesn't do as Round 2 has done with the kit brands they acquired and just reissue old kits with some modified and new parts and nothing new...some are fun to have back but how many can you have of the basically the same kit as most of them are. Of course they have to reissue kits where the tooling is paid for, but I want to see some all new tooling kits from time to time.

It would be nice...but the original issue was in 1971 and as far as I know it has never been reissued, so they have to find the tooling for the mixer and the other parts if it still exists and get licensing for it.

Torsion bar rear suspension questions
Force replied to Sam I Am's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
As far as I know the rear torsion bar suspension was Kenworth only as I haven't seen it on any other trucks. I don't know exactly when it came, probably sometime in the 50's, but it was available up to the late 70's when air ride became more popular. -
Very nice builds...but 966C!?!?!???

Are these both AMT Rigs? Help!
Force replied to Plashdaddy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
They are not the first issue as they had torsion bar suspension mentioned above, I don't exactly know when the suspension was changed and all the re-issues including the recent ones are pretty much the same as these. -
He is one of the best out there, I have not seen any of his work in person but the quality of his builds are immaculate.

Here are the instructions for a version with the Pontiac engine, I think the difference between this kit and the one you have are the wheels and decals. https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/instruction_sheetsh/instruction_sheets/revell-5/revell-56-ford-pick/

It should work, the floor is a separate piece so it would be a fairly easy modification. https://public.fotki.com/modeltrucks25thscale/truckkit_instructions/amt/t521_trailmobile_cf/

Yes it looks dead on now, very nice. I think flat should work on most wheels.

I noticed a stepped edge where the deepening meet the inner part of the flat circle of the center "button" on your rendering, it should not be there as the concave line of the center deepening goes all the way up to and meets the inner edge of this circle, so there is no step on the inner part of that circle on the real thing...I hope you understand what I'm trying to explain. Otherwise it looks pretty dead on. The center "button" will of course be quite small in 1:25th scale and this will maybe not show much.

The final look is very convincing. -
Canadian location for photoetched parts
Force replied to Heartattaq's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
$40.00 shipping from USA to Canada for a photo etched fret is outrageous when the photo etch fret itself fits in a regular envelope and can go as regular post, I wouldn't pay that even if the stuff was going over here to Sweden on the other side on the Atlantic Ocean. -
Looking good Rico, the center "button" could be tweaked some more as it's slightly off, the center depression should be concave, not flat. If you look closely at this picture you might see what I mean. I'm looking forward to be able to buy these.

The torsion bar versions of the K123 and W925 was not on the market for a very long time, that suspension was re-tooled and disappeared sometime after the T559 Kenworth Challege Transit Mixer kit wich still had the torsion bars. The AMT early Kenworth kits has has allways had the K123 and W925 designations but that's a bit confusing. The chassis designation ending with *25 tells that it should have Lighter Weight Tandem Drive on Torsion Bars so the W925 was correct when the T519 Kenworth W925 kit first came out in 1971 with Torsion Bars, but they changed to Walking beam and the kit should be designated W923 after that. The chassis designation ending with *23 tells it should have Lighter Weight Tandem Drive on 4-Spring, Hendrickson Walking Beam, Timken Lightweight Camelback type, 4-Bag Air Ride etc. but the T520 Kenworth K123 kit had Torsion Bars when it first came out in 1971 so K123 was wrong at the time, but they changed to Walking Beam and K123 is correct now. Here are links to the instructions for these kits. I do that too, but a one second glance on a picture of the releases will immediately tell if there are something of interest.

I wish they would show regular photos of the releases instead of these videos. One quick glance and you will instantly see if there is anything of interest instead of wasting several minutes on a video showing mostly uninteresting stuff.

eBay: contest for record highest asking price
Force replied to 89AKurt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
He has two more. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-Model-Plastic-Kit-1965-Ford-Galaxie-500XL-Stock-Car-Racing-Version/232944933177?hash=item363c999939:g:a-4AAOSwZl1brpQ2 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Tamiya-1-20-scale-limited-series-McLaren-Mercedes-MP4-13-Model-Car-89718-F-S/232944953546?hash=item363c99e8ca:g:YXkAAOSweTlbrph8 The prices on them are also kind of high and why anyone would buy the recent reissued $25-30 AMT 65 Galaxie kit for $90 I don't know. -
eBay: contest for record highest asking price
Force replied to 89AKurt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There is another T516-300 original issue factory sealed kit on ebay now and it has a "buy now" price of $125.00 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-1970s-AMT-Fire-Rescue-Chevy-Van-Model-Kit-SEALED-IN-BOX-UNBUILT/303014771488?hash=item468d167b20:g:lAAAAOSwHAxcK4CM Dirt cheap if you compare them. So why would someone pay $5000 for a kit they can get for $125...they are not that collectable and the recent reissues of the same kit are in the $20-$50 price range...he will never sell this kit if he doesn't lower the asking price with about $4900 or so...this guy has to wake up from his dream world and come back to reality. -
I have to get me one or two.
