  1. For me a truck is a heavy commercial tractor...a pickup is a pickup and I don't ever call them truck.
  2. As I understand it it is the same old kit as they have had for years, apparently this time the sleeper is included. With the boxart in mind I thought they would issue the first "Small Window" Unilite version of the wrecker with the Detroit Diesel 8V-71 and Stabil Aire suspension as it had the same boxart but in blue, but as far as I understand it's the later 1100 cab version with the Cummins NTC 350 and Peterbilt Air Leaf suspension. The wrecker body is the same on both kits tho' and it's a bit on the wide side and has to be narrowed.
  3. Keep looking at ebay, there are some who parts out truck kits there all the time.
  4. KJ Humphries has a fan 3D printed. Take a look here. http://kdhumphr.wixsite.com/double-take-replicas/product-page/cabin-fans
  5. Yes they do. http://www.slixx.com/1593.htm?id=2763
  6. Nice build. But it looks like a FH12 to me. Italeri hasn't been known for doing accurate truck kits and this one is no exception, the basic chassis and the TD120F engine and gearbox is the same as in their F12 kit and is hopelessly outdated for what this truck is supposed to be, the cab and outside parts are the only upgrades as they have done with most of their truck kits. It's only very recently Italeri did a serious upgrade and the latest Volvo 4th generation FH16 Globetrotter kit looks to be quite accurate after what I have seen on pictures of it with D16 engine and more modern gearbox and an updated chassis with air ride...so that kit is the only accurate Volvo truck kit from them since the old F12 and F12 Globetrotter kits from 1981...the rest of them are more or less wrong.
  7. No they are not bad at all, just a bit more challenging. I built my first AMT truck kit as a teenager and managed quite well considered my skills at the time...I got it together with a square frame and all wheels on the ground.
  8. Yup...me too. I read somewhere that the chassis in the Pinto and Mustang was Woody Gilmore.
  9. For AMT truck models I think the Kenworth K100 Aerodyne is the latest as the kits from that tooling came 1979-80 and should be less difficult to build than most of the other AMT truck kits wich are much older, the T600 kits are issued later (1990) but they are based on the old W925 kit from 1971 and are a bit more challenging. Most truck kits has multi piece frames and separate suspensions, and the Italeri kits has multi piece cabs so if you want to build an easy truck kit I would go for the Revell (former Monogram) Kenworth W900 Aerodyne or Peterbilt 359 snap/glue kits, they are cheap and easy to find and quite easy to build so they are good start kits.
  10. The distributor on most engines are cam-driven, the crank drives the camshaft through the timing chain or gears and the distributor and oil pump drives from a sprocket on the camshaft either at the front, rear or middle of the engine if the cam is inside the engine block as most V8's have, or at the end of the camshaft if it's a more modern OHC or DOHC engine. In the Ford 427 SOHC case you can take out the distributor drive in a couple of places, the regular front position (for Ford) as there is a short cam blank with a distributor gear instead of a regular camshaft in the engine block to drive the distributor and oil pump, or you can take the distributor drive out somewhere on the timing transmission, either at the front of the regular timing chain sprocket or at the ends of the camshafts...as long as you get the right timing wich is half the RPM of the crank it doesn't matter where you take it out.
  11. It's a frequently asked question and it's easy for everyone to find if it's pinned at the top of the first page of the category the topic belongs to. The moderators are the only ones that can pin a topic.
  12. You don't have to shout boys. The 1:24th scale kits listed are of no interest to me, especially if they are Italeri kits.
  13. They used diesel over here too to prevent the asfalt from sticking but with all environmental issues nowadays they have gone over to some sort of vegetable oil instead...it doesn't work better by all means but some say it's safer for the environment.
  14. On all of the pictures I have seen of the pre-production trailer when it was on display at a model show recently it has dual mount tires, the first I have heard about singles is in this thread...so I don't know what Moebius will do...hopefully duals.
  15. echoxrayniner here on the forum has done some from pictures I sent him as I saw a voind in that department. Here is the lnk to his post in the aftermarket category.
  16. It would be nice if they did I don't know, they seems to be focusing on European trucks more lately and it was many years since the did the US truck kits they have, and I don't know if they sold well. But as the truck kits they have been doing lately they it looks like they have forgotten the market outside central Europe when you see what they offer...the market in the rest of Europe, the US/Canada, South America and Australia can be decent too and they don't have much for them. An example, they do kits of our domestic Volvo and Scania trucks but not in the configuration we have most of here in Sweden and in nothern Europe...all trucks here are COE's due to lenght regulations and load capacity but the configuration are different and our truck combinations are a lot longer and have almost double the payload the short 4X2 COE tractor/trailer combinations have wich most of the kits they offer are. And the Australian truck combinations are even longer and heavier than what we have...so I definately see a market niche there.
  17. Most of the Italeri European truck kits configuration is short wheelbase 4X2 COE's, it's a popular configuration in mid Europe but I think it's boring and the truck without trailer looks if it's going to tip over forward under braking. I would be happier if they did more 6X2, 6X4 or 8X4 wich is more common where I live up in the north. But as I said in my earlier post, I prefer the US trucks.
  18. Regarding the Italeri truck kits...I stopped buying truck kits from them at least 20 years ago with a couple of exceptions, the Volvo VN 780 when it came out and the Peterbilt 378, the reason I don't buy them is the very few versions of trucks they offer as most of their European truck kits are two axle single drive tractors, and the vast inaccuracies of the kits as most of them haven't been updated in many years except for cabs and some other parts, the rest can be up to 40 years old and it doesn't look right on a more modern truck, and the lack of right details on some things like wheel hubs, wheels and such. I have just seen a couple of pictures of their new tooling Volvo kit and it looks like they have updated the last one to more modern specs...FINALLY...but it's still a boring two axle single drive tractor....so more versions please before I buy anything more from them and they have to be accurate...otherwise they will not get any of my money. Italeri have to realize that all trucks in Europe aren't two axle tractors...there are lots of other versions out there too that lots of people likes to build, and it gets very expensive when you have to get at least one kit or maybe two, and lots and lots of aftermarket stuff to be able to build the truck you want. So I have only US truck kits in my stash as it is now because I have allways liked the look of them and I don't have to get as much aftermarket stuff to be able to build what I want. I also would like to see more modern American truck kits and not just the Pro Star and Lone Star, and there are several I can think of that I would buy if they were offered...and of course more trailers. The wheels on the new Moebius trailer looks to be dual mounts to me, at least on the one they have showed recently, so I also hope that's is correct...super singles doesn't make it in my book either...steer wheels yes...but not on drive axles or trailers.
  19. I have the same problem on my old Revell AG Kenworth K100 V.I.T Australia, the front tires are shot.
  20. I have not seen the KTA 600 on his website...does he have one in the works?
  21. Nice interior and I hope the paintjob will work out for you. This kit is a part of the last batch of all new tooling kits AMT/ERTL did in the mid to late 90's before the RC2/Learning Curve bought the company...not much new from them after that.
  22. I'm not aware of any model kits of Tri-Five Chevys with a sixbanger, all kits I have seen have V8's. So the Revell box art artist has most likely done a misstake.
  23. I bought mine from P&P Resin Works some years ago...but I don't know the availabillity for that engine now. But you can try to contact him. ordersppresinworks@gmail.com
