  1. I got mine today and I can't do anything else than agree...they are very very nice. Thanks for your work Rico.
  2. I was asked if I had pictures of John Force's old cars a couple of days ago so I put this post together. This is a picture rich post but I hope you don't mind, all pictures are gathered on the web over the years and all credits goes to the original photographers and it spans from the first Funny Car he ever ran up to today 1973-74 The rear engined 71-73 Mustang John ran with his brother Louie, I think this was a former Jack Chrisman car. 1975 Chevy Vega FC 7726 1976 Chevy Monza FC 7726 1977 Chevy Monza FC 7726 1978 Chevy Corvette FC 723 1979 Chevy Corvette FC 8 Early 1980 Chevy Corvette FC 8 Late 1980 Chevy Citation FC 8 1981 Chevy Citation FC 723 1982 Chevy Citation FC 723 1983 Chevy Camaro FC 723 1984 Chevy Camaro FC 4 1985 Chevy Corvette FC 723 Early 1986 Chevy Corvette FC 5 Late 1986 Chevy Cavalier FC 5 1987 Olds Firenza FC 4 1988 Olds Cutlass FC 4 1989 Olds Cutlass FC 3 1990 Olds Cutlass FC 6 1991 Olds Cutlass FC 1 1992 Olds Cutlass FC 1 1993 Olds Cutlass FC 2 1994 Chevy Lumina FC 1 1995 Pontiac Firebird FC 1 1996 Pontiac Firebird FC 1 Early 1997 Pontiac Firebird FC 1 Late 1997 Ford Mustang FC 1 1998 Ford Mustang FC 1 1999 Ford Mustang FC 1 2000 Ford Mustang FC 1 2001 Ford Mustang FC 1 2002 Ford Mustang FC 1 2003 Ford Mustang FC 1 2004 Ford Mustang FC 3 2005 Ford Mustang FC 1 2006 Ford Mustang FC 3 2007 Ford Mustang FC 1, after Eric Medlens passing after the test crash in Gainesille FL John used FC 4 as a tribute to him, John himself crashed in Dallas TX and got injured and couldn't finish the year. 2008 Ford Mustang FC 7 2009 Ford Mustang FC 7 2010 Ford Mustang FC 9 2011 Ford Mustang FC 1 2012 Ford Mustang FC 9 2013 Ford mustang FC 9 2014 Ford Mustang FC 1 2015 Chevrolet Camaro FC 2 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS FC 7 2017 Chevrolet Camaro SS FC 4 2018 Chevrolet Camaro SS FC 7 2019 Chevrolet Camaro SS FC One thing you might notice is that the Funny Car bodies looked a lot more like the cars they were supposed to be up to 1999, after that NHRA lightened and changed the rules and we got the ugly wedge shaped bodies with a bump on top for the driver we have now.
  3. And this has to do with "Car Kit News & Reviews" in what way???? But it's not a huge mystery why the 50 Olds beat the old 30's and 40's Ford's who had flatheads in them. Oldsmobile and Cadillac got Over Head Valve V8 engines in 1949 (Olds Rocket 303 cui and Cadillac 331 cui), both became very popular and were put in various cars to replace the old original less powerful engines if you wanted your car to go, Chrysler did their first OHV V8 1951 (331 cui), DeSoto 1952 (276 cui) and Dodge 1953 (241 cui) these were the first generation Hemis, Ford got their first OHV V8 engine (239 cui Y-Block) 1954 and the Chevrolet and Pontiac OHV V8 came 1955 (Chevy 265 cui small block and Pontiac 287 cui). So in short, the OHV V8's was better, more efficient and more powerful than the old flathead V8's. I don't know why you mention the 50 Ford Coupe tho', it still had a flathead as FoMoCo didn't do the OHV engine until 1954 as i mentioned...even the Mercury wich also had the same basic flathead V8 as the Ford's at the time had more horse power output...but the 49-51 Ford's and Mercury's was often re-powered with Cadillac or Oldsmobile OHV engines.
  4. I agree, it's the easiest way to do a coil spring and you can do whatever diameter, length and distance between the coils you need to make it look right...I have often used soft wires to do coil springs and do as Peter explains, stretch it out a bit so the coil looks even and the spacing looks right. Using functional springs on a static model is just to make it more difficult than it has to be.
  5. Don't worry, I did not take it that way. But a list of aftermarket suppiers for truck models would be a good thing...I don't know if doing a detailed list of what they have would be necessary if they have a website.
  6. That's what I usually do and they get quite even.
  7. That list includes resin diesel engines and who does them...but it was a while ago so it may have to be updated some as I know a few more has been done since then, in that same topic a bit further down I listed the engine colors for most American truck diesels. My original thought was that these lists would be pinned as it's good information for truck builders because frequently asked questions in the truck categories are "where can I find (fill in manufacturer and type) truck engine", and "what color is (fill in manufacturer and type) engine", that's why these lists should be pinned somewhere so they are easy to find...I had to search the forum for a while to find that specific topic now. I have these lists on my hard drive but that's not the case for everyone else, and I did them to help others. To list everything made for truck kits on the aftermarket would be a huge task and the availabillity changes as old stuff dissappears and new stuff being added, so it's easier to list the companies...with websites if they have one...and you can see for yourself what's available.
  8. Isn't the third generation 5.7, 6.1, 6.2 and 6.4 basically the same engines except for the bore/stroke and some of the outside accessories. These engines do have the spark plugs in the center of the valve cover and the intake and exhaust valves opposite eachother like the generaton 1 and 2 Hemi's but that doesn't automatically make them a Hemi, these engines don't have hemisferical combustion chambers in the heads so they are not a true Hemi regardless of what Chrysler wants us to believe with the Hemi name.
  9. Has anyone seen this posted yesterday on the NHRA.com website. https://www.nhra.com/news/2019/modeling-mementos
  10. I can't agree more...very nice builds.
  11. These are nice kits and yours look good so far...I remeber them on the tracks from back in the day...the Mercedes C9 had a distinct V8 sound and the Jaguar had nice V12 sound. I have a couple of the C9 and a Jaguar XJS 9 in my stash and will probably build them someday.

  13. John Force has raced a lots of different Funny Cars over the years, I have been to the JFR Headquarters in Yorba Linda, CA several times (most recent was back in October 2018 and I have also met the man himself a couple of times) and many of his old cars are on display in the museum. The first Funny Car he ever raced (or should I say tried to race) was a rear engined 71-73 Ford Mustang, in 1975 he had a Chevy Vega, 1976-77 he used Chevy Monza bodys, 1978-80 Chevy Corvette, 1980-82 Chevy Citation, 1983-84 Chevy Camaro, 1985 Chevy Corvette, 1986 Chevy Cavalier, 1987 Old Firenza, 1988-93 Olds Cutlass, 1994 Chevy Lumina, 1995-97 Pontiac Firebird, 1997-2014 Ford Mustang and 2015-Present Chevy Camaro. He also had a short stint in a Fuel Altered back in the early 70's
  14. Very nice models both of them. The Lotus 78 with #6 was the last car Ronnie Peterson ever drove as he crashed at Monza September 10th 1978 and passed away the day after. The man could have been one of the greatest if he would have lived.
  15. Here are the best pictures I have found regarding the brake chamber placement borrowed from Pavel Amrich.
  16. You can find instructions here Clayton. https://public.fotki.com/modeltrucks25thscale/truckkit_instructions/amt/t502_peterbilt_352/ They have instructions for most of the truck models sorted by kit manufacturer.
  17. I might be stupid but isn't the Ranchero based on the 2 door wagon body style? If the Ranchero market is thin the Del Rio market should be about the same...I mean, a lot of people have asked for a correct Ranchero for ages as the old one is far from it, on the other hand I haven't heard many asking for a Del Rio Ranch Wagon kit, but they did a kit of it anyway...and at the same time didn't think further so it could be done as a Ranchero as well...a bit strange thinking if I may say. If I was planning a new tool for a car model I would try to get as many possibillities as I can for this tooling so I can get the most out of the investment. I just hope Blitz/Revell doesn't do as Round 2 has done with the kit brands they acquired and just reissue old kits with some modified and new parts and nothing new...some are fun to have back but how many can you have of the basically the same kit as most of them are. Of course they have to reissue kits where the tooling is paid for, but I want to see some all new tooling kits from time to time.
  18. It would be nice...but the original issue was in 1971 and as far as I know it has never been reissued, so they have to find the tooling for the mixer and the other parts if it still exists and get licensing for it.
  19. I just put in an order.
  20. As far as I know the rear torsion bar suspension was Kenworth only as I haven't seen it on any other trucks. I don't know exactly when it came, probably sometime in the 50's, but it was available up to the late 70's when air ride became more popular.
  21. Very nice builds...but 966C!?!?!???
  22. They are not the first issue as they had torsion bar suspension mentioned above, I don't exactly know when the suspension was changed and all the re-issues including the recent ones are pretty much the same as these.
  23. He is one of the best out there, I have not seen any of his work in person but the quality of his builds are immaculate.
  24. Here are the instructions for a version with the Pontiac engine, I think the difference between this kit and the one you have are the wheels and decals. https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/instruction_sheetsh/instruction_sheets/revell-5/revell-56-ford-pick/
