70 1/2 Camaro Updated 12-12-10 subframe redone
Jason Vandergriff replied to Jason Vandergriff's topic in WIP: Model Cars
well I started building the hinges and set my new wheels under it. I also added some color to gather a few ideas for painting it. I have a killer paint effect i used on my Rock Band guitar that turned out nice so Ill be using it here. -
Been messing with this project for a while now. Ive had a few different frames built for it but not happy with any of them. I decided to get this one back out and see what we could do. Wheels came from a porsche kit that i had gt1 racer i believe. Motovation will be a 4.6 mod motor from the 99 stang from revell. Might steal the chassis from it as well or build my own. Mock up pics to tease you guys with.

I want to see more of the 2.3 its got a special place in my heart. Had a 77 stang with a modded 2.3 in it and a turbo fast ride.

70 1/2 Camaro Updated 12-12-10 subframe redone

Mine is gonna be alright cause Ill install the front subframe after the floor pan is in just to be safe. I started with the baldwin motion version of the kit which had the d-80 rear spoiler. The front spoiler is a cut up kit piece and had some added to it. I picked up some wheels and rotors in Atlanta. I got calipers from Replicas and minitures of maryland from a buddy of mine. Got the irs unit out of the zr1 vette and with a few cuts itll fit. New pics tommorrow afternoon. -
So im tired of extra horrid gas milage on my daily driver. An 85 GMC S-15 Jimmy with a 350 in it. The holley has never been really worth a wood nickel and Im ready to replace it. Im using a diy ecm from Megasquirt. Its a kit form and you build it yourself. (They are sold preassembled) So I grabbed some pics from when I was building it and some of the stuff I have to bolt on. I will have full control of both fuel and ignition. Also getting rid of the big hei hanging out n the back of the motor as well with coil packs and crank trigger ignition. some pics and feel free to ask any questions. (CLICK PICS TO MAKE BIGGER)

Looking good. Ive got mine back on the workbench. Have tried to test fit the chassis in the body like that? Mine didn't like trying to be test fitted like tat and put alot of stress on the rear filler panel. Just something to look out for. heres mine. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=26603&st=0&p=263980&hl=camaro&fromsearch=1&#entry263980

Some older pics of mine. Its worse now. The monitor grew some to a 26 inch lcd. The rattle cans took over above it and the parts boxes are not full yet.

Brush work when it happens for me is Testors enamels, Tamiya Acrylics, or Model Master enamels. For rattle can is mostly duplicolor for me. Airbrush is what ever I need to spray but usually ppg dupount Nason etc. I have a line on mismatched and left overs from a few body shops in the area and I get my pick every once in a while.

Haven't gotten to check out the rms titanic yet though. Might stop back through for the rod run while im on my way home from Bowling Green Ky this weekend. -

Been a while since ive done anything with this. I finally got the frame partly worked out rear suspension is almost done except for shocks. I built rear spindles from square stock drilled and sanded to get a nice looking piece. Started at the lower a arm mound and worked my way up saving the wheel mount for last. Using 1/16 round stock for my center pin that my wheel would attach to. Ill redrill the back of the spindle for the drive shaft. For the upper arm i took .050 solder and my needle nose flattened an end out and drilled with a 70 bit cause im using pins to attach everything. Had i cut the rear arms loose the suspension would work. heres a few pics of whats been done. -
The daily 85 GMC Jimmy mild 350 th350 duals all the way out looking for a body for it cause this ones got rust areas. The project truck is 83 S-10 350 th350 in the middle of being redone. Also have a 1975 Mark Twain Bowrider that Ill have water ready next summer. Has a 302 on it and if I get the funds will have ported heads a b303 cam and a performer rpm airdgap intake. Should scoot once im done.
