Jason Vandergriff replied to gasman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Mine has seen snow 1 time since i bought it back in may of 07 for $125. I wrecked it in the same snow. Just gotta make sure in thed winter you have everything you can to help add traction. We have a few members from the area and alot of them have seperate winter beaters. -

Rallys do look nice on these trucks. Mine just needs centers and they will look good again. RTK what kind of power plant you got planned for it? Mines a stock 350 for now except 882s performer rpm and a 600 vac sec holley. Bowtie You can do a ls1 swap in yours and retain all factory guages and stuff. If you want a cheaper swap you can do a gen 1 sbc swap fairly reasonable. Check out www.v8s10.org I used to be there all the time. -

It can be hair raising in the rain. Ive got some killer paint planned for it. Also have 2 new doors and a right side fender for it. Paint will be a charcoal grey and purple with a tribal style split. Going to be redoing all the front suspension before to long and lowering it some more also. -

Need To Source These Parts
Jason Vandergriff replied to Smart-Resins's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Did you look at the rear tail lanterns on the boot hill? They be what you are looking for. Bottom right of attached link. http://www.showrods.com/images/boot_hill_express/boot_hill_side2 -
Ive been doing alot of fuel injected projects lately and was wondering if there is any interest in a resin copy of a Ls-1 and Lt-5. These would be complete engines. The Lt-1/4 is a front cover, intake, valve covers, and a belt assembly. I wont be casting these but the master will be going to a forum memeber. These motor would not include a transmission and there is plenty of sources for them in resin.

Nice to see some off road stuff done. Now if the oval crowd could get the famed lr from the sprint cars cast reasonably. -

Mine used to be in front of the keyboard on my main comp desk. 6 in by maybe 18in. I decided it was time to improve work space and reorganized my fridge desk.

Building Doldrums.
Jason Vandergriff replied to Helipilot16's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I get them about 3 times a year. Mine last for 2-3 months at a time. Ususally one of my regular shows I attend gets me going on them again. My camaro has been on and mostly off since 05! Im going to prep a quickie kit tonight to build all its going to get is good paint and maybe some engine detailing thats it. Need the quickie build from time to time. -
Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind. Withering my intuition leaving all these opportunities behind.

Well Mine took 3 pics to get but one is the kit stash. only the camaro is on the bench right now. Others stay in tubs until I want to work on em.

70 1/2 Camaro Updated 12-12-10 subframe redone
Jason Vandergriff replied to Jason Vandergriff's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks. This kit is a real good kit to build easy to detail without lots of cutting and replacing. Im starting on all the tierods and stuff now that should be a real fun task. Im wanting it to all be movable cause I want poseable front wheels we'll see if it happens or not. The work factor is slow but what I do looks real good from the start. Im still tempted to cut up the spare floor pan I have here just to get the rear of the left tub right cause I messed this one up a touch never see it on a mirror and in paint but IO dont like a small flaw like that on a contest model. -
70 1/2 Camaro Updated 12-12-10 subframe redone
Jason Vandergriff replied to Jason Vandergriff's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Got the subframe painted and started detailing it. Scratchbuilt shocks and springs. Frame is done in a duplicolor dark shadow grey. Springs where fabbed out of 22 guage wire and a bolt the correct size. Shocks was built from 3/32 plastic tubing and a piece of brass rod that fit snug. Added some plastic to the front end now to just finish the sides of the front spoiler and body work. Wheels are from the Revell motorworks 37 Ford sedan. Tires are good year blue streaks out back and zr-40s up front. Paint is going to be a cherry red with silver stripes. Heres some pics let me know what ya think. -
Im in for sure.

70 1/2 Camaro Wing
Jason Vandergriff replied to tktom24's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Thats awesome Matt. Im glad we can now build any early camaro we want. I only need a case of these to build all of them I want to build. -
Im waiting til the morning to put it on jack stands and do a frame measurement. If the frames bent I'll just drive it like a beater if its not bent on the mounting points for the control arms Ill repair it. Im gonna need to replace all the steering components I have a new steering box for it but tie rods drag link idler arm and the right side spindle and control arm. When I replace the spindles Ill get the 2in lowering spindles and replace the springs with some good afco springs. Sway bar mount on the right side needs replaced as well. Wheel is ovaled from where it hit the ditch drain where it goes under the road. It is drivable for now but it isnt the same. I just thought the damage was worse when I was still behind the wheel but once I got outside and looked no body damage at all ewxcept a small scratch on my primmed bumper.

Im fixing to order some of the protech braided line and fittings. http://protechmodelparts.com/ is the site. I'm fixing to detail the motor for the Camaro. Fuel lines to fuel injection power steering lines and coolant lines and even the vaccum lines for the fuel injection. I will be more than glad to photograph some of the steps I used to detail it.
