40 Fordswagon Beatle "An Altered State of Mind"
Jason Vandergriff replied to Jason Vandergriff's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Spent time working on the chassis tonight. The idea I had of making the chassis the lower a-arm mount points was great but it didnt work out in the end. I realizes that there just isnt enough strength to make it feasable. Ill start over again tomorrow and Ill add a-arm from channel or sheet stock. I do plan on the suspension having a little travel in it. Front will be easy except for the working scratchbuilt rack. Pics when I get awake in the morning of the frame attempt. -

Thnaks Billy. I had the wild idea when I was in high school and I finally got it done in March. It grabs attention from a distance and then keeps it up close.

What brand and paint code is that. Id like to use it on one of my current projects. -
This is AMT's Wagon Rod that I added 57 Chevy quarters to. Opened the doors and hinged the hood suicide. added a balsa wood bed and scratchbuilt the dash. the wheels are from Revell's Enzo kit. Photo etch rotors, dash guages, and throttle linkage. Interior is done in a blue quilt binding using a method similar to paper towels headliner. took about 5 months to build. 39 chevy photobucket album Thanks to Gregg for the pics these were taken in Atlanta.

airbrush questions
Jason Vandergriff replied to hellonwheelz3's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks Gary. Ill check around and see if i can find an exploded view and make sure what part it is I need. I still had a learning curve with that airbrush I hadn't quite got over. My single action Binks was used for alot of models I built about 8 years ago. It laid out a smooth pattern and with just a twist of the nozzle it got really fine. Havent seen any of them around in a few years. The gravity feed is an honest touch up gun with a 1.4 tip. I got both of those from a friend of the family that was getting out of the auto restoration business. He taught me alot with them before he gave them to me. I painted alot of plastic before I got anywhere close to good with these. And your aunt was right the price we pay for a lesson learned is tuition. I spent alot of money on paint and plastic to get good with my painting tools. I feel every penny was well spent. -
airbrush questions
Jason Vandergriff replied to hellonwheelz3's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have 3 and of them i use my gravity feed more than anything else. I have a single action binks that was given to me. external mix but lays a pretty pattern. used mostly for small parts Badger dual action used once and a part got lost in cleaning. good all around just like my gun better. Neson gravity feed spray gun. Also given to me and is used for bodies and some small parts the model in my avatar was sprayed with it. -

R.E. Mayberry's - "Shade Tree Special"
Jason Vandergriff replied to Porky's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Good work Eric. I found a intake similar to what you are looking for in an amt Nascar. I have a complete motor if you want it. Will the body be available for sale anytime soon? Another way to build the 292 is a 60 over 283. Ive got a 283 here at the house on my engine stand that I need to put away before I lose the crank to rust.
