  1. As of now, they are saying at least 10 days. I have to go back in 2 days to make sure that there is no infection and whatnot. looks like i won't be working on a model for a bit. But that is ok, it gives me a chance to get things organized and see what i have.
  2. This morning I was opening up the trunk and doors on the re-release AMT '66 Chevy Nova Pro Street and slipped. I ended up slicing my left middle finger pretty bad...more like a fillet. Well, almost 3 hours, money outta my pocket (which I don't really have), and 11 stitches later I'm home enjoying my Sunday So, I figured this would be a good time to remind everyone to be safe when doing what we love. I'm so frustrated and aggrivated at myself for not fully paying attention to what I was doing I know, I know...I'm a dumb dumb (and i don't mean a lollipop).
  3. thanks for the cool tip. i had always wondered how ya'all made the crunched/wrecked body parts. i might to actuall try this.
  4. i say model... something about it says, "i'm a model" oh wait, maybe that's the voices in my head.
  5. i'm from pinellas...born and raised
  6. i edited the pic to help illustrate. i could be wrong, since i have not used these, but it looks like the red pieces would bend 90 degrees to the black piece and the holes, indicated by the arrows, would be for the hinge pin. hope this helps
  7. there is a place on 66th street in pinellas park that sells models named ralph's hobbies, no website, no scratch building stuff though. there is also phil's hobbies pn park blvd in pinellas park. they sell models and r/c. their selection of scratchbuilding supplies is ok, but they are willing to order/get what you need. Phil's Hobby Shop 6050 Park Blvd Pinellas Park, FL 33781 (727) 545-1251 or you could go to house of hobbie on us19 in palm harbor. they have pretty much everything you might need. and if they don't they will order it for you. bob, the owner, is very knowledgable. House of Hobbies 37700 Us Highway 19 N Palm Harbor, FL 34684 (727) 943-5800 hope this helps
  8. sorry showrodfreak, harry just edged you out. your turn harry

    '71 GTX

thanks for the comment. the top was done with primer and a scoth brite pad. i'm in the process of doing a how to on it. thank you very munch. this was the first build i've tackled in about 10 years or so. i have several more kits that are w.i.p.s maybe i can get off of my butt and get to working on them

    '71 GTX

well, here's a few pics of the revell '71 gtx kit done in bahama yellow (butterscotch-ish). this is the first model that i have completed in a long time. feel free to comment/critique. model was built pretty much box stock and built for a friend that has the 1:1 car. front seats are wrapped in leather, the roof was painted to simulate vinyl, black flocking for carpet, wired distributor, BMF foil on mirrors, trim, wheel well trim (first time using BMF)
  13. yes, this model was finished. however, my external HD that had the pictures on it has decided that it no longer wants to work. I gave the model to the owner of the 1:1 and i'm having difficulty coordinating with him so i can take more pictures. as soon as i'm able to take more pics, i will postthem in "under glass"
  14. i was wondering if anyone had pictures of the way that the plug wires go into what looks like a magneto. i'm building one for a good friend's dad and i wanted to get it as close to "proper" as possible. thanks in advance for any help
  15. congrats, kevin. i'm sure that you are stoked. keep us posted on your progress...in school and with the models.
  16. why not pay tribute to rob zombie and call her "Black Sunshine"?
  17. you are quite correct harry. they should be the same. however, the owner of the 1:1 decided that he just wanted the fronts done. his reasoning is that you really won't see them. and i might slightly tint the windows.
  18. thanks everyone for the wonderful comments. i'm trying to get this one done before the weekend...but we'll see. and here's a couple close ups of the vinyl top and one of the leather wrapped seats.
  19. this is one i've been working on here and there when time allows. it started off as a revell 71 plymouth gtx kit. i painted it PPG bahama yellow (looks like butterscotch to me), cleared it with Nason Select Clear, and then masked it off and created the vinyl top, and then jumped in with both feet and used BMF for the first time. i'm building this one for a friend of mine that has the car in 1:1. i will be doing a how to explaining how i did the "vinyl". hope you all enjoy it and feel free to critique/comment.
  20. i don't know if you still need help with this or not, but i will be going to the don garlit's museum this weekend and can snap some pics of it for you. let me know if there are any other pictures you may need and i'll see if i can accomidate you
  21. instead of lace, you could use fishnet stockings. spray the first color (i.e. the darker color in this case) put the fishnet over the body and stretch it as uniform as you can spray the second color (i.e. the lighter colro in this case) let it flash off remove the stocking from body spray the candy color over that clear coat sit back and enjoy
  22. that appears to be a Parma Fiberglass Comm Cleaning Stick...used to clean the commutator on an electric motor. you may be able to locate one at the local hobby shop. i believe that i have even seen them in advanced discount auto...maybe radio shack. hope taht helps
  23. i decided to finally show all one of my currnet w.i.p.s its an AMT 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery that i have cut the back section of the frame off and used the chassis of a model for the rails for the rear end. i've tubbed it, although i still have to do the tubs, cut the rear door into 2 pieces, opened the doors, shaved the rear bumper supports, eliminating the front bumper supports. the engine is HOK orion silver with HOK kandy magenta (i have to get better pics...the color is much better in person). i have a paint scheme for the body, just haven't gotten to the point of painting it. let me know what ya'll think...good or bad, i can take it. the chassis "work" so far the engine p.s. this is the first time that i have opened the doors, modified the frame, and tubbed it.
  24. here's a couple links for what i believe you are looking for... http://www.coastairbrush.com/products.asp?cat=319 http://www.tcpglobal.com/airbrushdepot/airbtools.aspx hope that helps.
