  1. i will be watching them...i might even be attending a few. i'm rooting for the home team... Tampa Bay Lightning... GO BOLTS!!!
  2. here's the latest to come out of the fatkidd graffix studio. its started out as an AMT snapfast plus kit. I removed the side moldings, shaved the door handles and tailgate handle, removed the roof lights, separated the headlights from the grill, opened the grill, filled and smoothed front bumper, scratch built a bed insert, machined a set of "backing plates" for the wheels and painted tose body color with no clear, lowered it and added wheels from a diecast. Paint is House of Kolor: Cortez Blue Pearl over white primer Orion Silver with Kandy Pink Limetime Pearl Tangelo Pearl it is a curbside and was done as a "quickie". Hope you enjoy and comments/critiques are always welcome.
  3. well, here goes nothing. this is a picture of me at a recent tampa bay lightning game.
  4. if it is in an easily "accessible" area, why not cut a small piece from a milk jug for the cloudy color and glue it over the existing bottle. or, like suggested, use white4 primer for the color and use a blue highlighter for the fluid and a green highlighter for the radiator overflow
  5. thanks for sharing the pics. i was unable to attend and i'm glad to see some pics.
  6. stop by a local tattoo shop and ask for a few ink cups that they use. they come in different sizes, have a low profile, disposable (if need be) and they are relatively inexpensive. i went a step further and had a friend that's a machinist make me a small holder with slots that hold the cups. its also on a slight angle so that when it gets to the end of whats in it, it puddles better. i'll try and get a picture of my holder in the next couple of days.
  7. here's one that i have of dirk's truck...
  8. all right...i play. here's a few that i've stalled on. AMT 55 cameo truckster chopped top dodge van viper powered AMT 40 ford delivery AMT 2006 Camaro Concept bagged silverado fujimi CRX Si they are stalled for one reason or the other. most are that i temporarily (read:indefinitely) lost interest in that particular project. the CRX is in a permanent state of stalled as i got a few drops of laquer thinner on the "glass" and ruined it. i have tried and tried to wet sand the problem away to no avail. there are a few more projects in the works, but i'll save those for another day. happy modeling
  9. so i've gotten some more work on this thing done. all that is left is to mount the front and rear lights. i did go ahead and add a starter into the mix as well as a coil with a scratch built bracket. clear coat has been applied and these pics are before wetsand & polishing. thanks again for looking.
  10. thanks jody. hopefully it will cleared and final assembly this weekend. i had a major issue with the left side decal...as soon as i slid it off of the backing paper, it literally stuck (one small spot) in place. i tried to slide it a little bit to position it and it ripped in 3 or 4 places. so, i will use some of the "extra" decals and recoup. the sides won't be the same, but oh well. i can live with that.
  11. thanks nick. it was a little time consuming, but i'm happy with the result
  12. i really like this. maybe its due to the fact that it isn't flat/satin black. i think you did a great job conveying, "build with what you had or what was available. killer job!
  13. so i have taken a break from the van. partially due to builders block (of sorts) and no personal interest in it. as sad as that sounds, here's one that is almost done in the meantime. it is the recent reissue of the MPC Milk Trike...done in the "Pop Machine" scheme. the basecoat is House of Kolor Orion Silver (bc02) with Root Beer Kandy w/SG100 (inter coat clear). no clear coat yet, as i still have some decal work to do on the other side. i decided to do a quick mock-up so i could see how it looked. that's when it struck me to share it with the fine folks here. also, the seat is wrapped in real leather and the diamond patter is "sewn" onto the seat. I thought it needed something "EXTRA". the floor board is hematite embossing powder. i do plan on wiring the engine as well. i might even add a starter since it does not have one. enough of my blabbering...on with the pictures. thanks for looking. and critique/constructive criticism is always welcome.
  14. rob, if you need any help or have questions, let me know. since we're so close to each other, i wouldn't mind helping you out if i can

  17. that would be a great idea. there's quite a few people that were there that i have not met.
  18. there's some nice pics that you took. thanks for sharing. here's a link to the few pics i took of the models. i didn't take a lot since there was several that were there last year. enjoy! http://s19.photobucket.com/albums/b182/fatkidd/2010%20MAGS%20southeast%20nationals%20model%20show/
  19. here's a few pics that i took of it...almost the same angles. there were some wonderful models at the show as well as some exceptional builders. i had a great time. rob, i wish had gotten the opportunity to meet you there.
  20. thank you very much. you and me both. I'm trying to get it to the point of finishing the body work so i can get onto painting. i haven't decided on the base color yet. but, it will have the viper logo on the hood and some nice tasty graphics encircling it. my goal is to have it done in time to have it appear at the show in atlanta next month. we'll see how it goes. the biggest surprise to me so far is how many people just love vans. they're kind of like a volkswagen bug...you see one and you just have to smile!
  21. WOW!!! thanks to all the killer comments...i had to tug on my ear to deflate my ego a bit.

  23. I recently (last night) put this one in "on the workbench" I know these have been done quite a bit. Here's a little different take on it. Built box stock, except for plug wires and thread for the piping on the seats were added. Color is HOK Orion Silver B/C with HOK Cobalt Kandy Frame/chassis is the same color as the body...minus clear. Engine is Tamiya Gold Interior is Tamiya flat white with Tamiya flat blue inserts and silver thread for the piping (from walmart) Carbs are Cobalt Kandy directly over the chrome. thanks for looking and I hope that you enjoy the pics.
  24. the paint was his choice...i was incorrect about the base coat. it was HOK Orion Silver. it really is a difficult color to capture in a picture. it took a lot of effort on my part to not help him with the paint...i think it turned out well. and it hasn't been polished!
  25. thanks for the comments. this one is done... here's a couple teaser pics. for the other pics, please look in under glass/
