  1. I have not personally used this product, but from what I've been told, read, etc. it is used as a flattening agent. add it to Tamiya paints to eliminate the "gloss". I'm not sure what the mixing ratio is for proper use. But, from what has been told to me, if you add a little bit, it will be more of a satin finish...add a bit more, you get a flat finish. I have also heard that you can mix some in with Future and use that as a "satin" or "flat" clear. As i stated, I'm not sure of the mixing ratio. I'm sure someone that has used it will chime in a suggest a good mix ratio. My guess would be to try 4:1 (4 parts paint, 1 part flat base). Like with any other paint product, i would experiment on a practice body. And be sure to thoroughly mix the concoction.
  2. cool little ride. i had thought about putting a civic hatchback on a 1/32 bigfoot. awesome build, sir.
  3. thank you sir. comments are always accepted
  4. todd, thank you for the info sir...much appreciated charles, thank you for reposting the link. it worked this time.
  5. lee, yes sir! it wasn't too bad...some masking here, back masking there, few choice words, and clear coat. tada!
  6. thank you for the kind words. there will be others to follow...
  7. thanks guys. charlie, the link did not work for me. could you please repost it?
  8. I've been working on the revell '49 Merc kit and i need some help. I plan on doing the plug wires but i do not know which engine is included with the kit. I did a search but had no luck. I know someone here has an answer for me. So...can someone help me out?
  9. Here's my take on the revell '66 Chevelle Wagon. I completed this back in october for a local show and finally got off my butt and decided to post pics. Pretty much box stock...except for the wired distributor (detail masters) and paint job (all house of kolor: Orion Silver b/c, Cinder Red b/c, Pavo Purple b/c, Black b/c, Lime Gold Kandy). on to the pics... thanks for looking
  10. i had an awesome time. i did not enter any models in the show. i was a spectator this year. iplan on being there next year with a few items to enter. to those that i met, i was nice to meet and interact with you. to those i did not meet, i'll make it a point to introduce myself to more people next year.
  11. ok, here goes. here's the pics i took. i think i got a bit shutter happy with the camera since this was my first big show to attend. there's a lot of pics. i had a wonderful time and will definitely be attending next year. i might even enter a model. haha. A.C.M.E. Southern Nats Pics gregg, have a safe trip back to hawaii.
  12. it was nice to finally meet you gregg. great pics. thanks again for sharing. as soon as i get mine uploaded, i'll post the link here. hopefully, it will be before the sun comes up.
  13. i'm leaving in about 5 hours, driving there from florida. going to see family and was able to work in the show. hope to meet some folks from here while there.
  14. so here's a few pics of the lowered stance of the truck. the 1st pic shows how i lowered the rear. the other pics are jsut to shwo the stance. thanks again to those that offered their help and suggeestions.
  15. WOW!!! thanks for the replies folks. sorry it took a few days to get back. i mounted the front axle to the top of the springs and it put it real low. in fact, if it were any lower, the leaf springs would hit the ground. for the rear, i moved the front of the leaf sring above its stock location which put the frame on the top of the axle. i'll post pics tomorrow since i left my camera at the shop. thanks to all that repiled to what i thought was a silly question. i now have ideas for future projects.
  16. This may seem like a remedial question for some of the folks here, but i have no clue how to do it. I have a '55 chevy cameo kit that i'm working on (i'm sure most, if not all, know what the kit and suspension look like. My question, to those that can help, how do i tackle this feat? I have scratched my head trying to figure out the best way to accomplish this and honestly can't seem to figure it out. Please help with any suggestions, how to's, or directions down the proper path would be greatly appreciated.
  17. as stated before, pictures do not do this justice. its outstanding! was nice to meet dave at the show in tampa.
  18. I too had a greast time. This was the 1st contest that i have entered. It was nice to meet David and a few of the others. I did not get to meet Dano, but probably talked to him at some point. haha. I will definitely be attending next year...hopefully with a few more models that are "worthy" . There were some models that completely inspired me and they were some that made me wonder how they accomplishe such a feat. here's the link to my photobucket...hope you enjoy http://s19.photobucket.com/albums/b182/fat...Ocotber%202009/
  19. i'm going to the show/contest this weekend. i'm really looking forward to it. this will be my first contest that i've ever entered. i have a few models that i will be entering. i hope to meet a few of the folks that are on here as well as some new model contacts.
  20. i was going to do the traditional and go with red, but i wasn't sure of the exact red, so the owner decided on blue. shortly after finishing it and returning it to him, i saw a clip from a more recent van halen concert and noticed that wolfgang van halen was playing a frankenstrat bass that was done in blue. i still have to get some pics of the guitar after it was cleared and reassembled. feel free to contact me when you're ready to re-do your peavey.
  21. Gramps-xrds, that is a great tip. i have several sets of valve covers that are in the parts bin for just that reason. thanks for sharing.
  22. I own/run my airbrush business. Business is pretty slow right now, but it comes and goes. I will paint/airbrush pretty much anything that can sit still long enough to be painted. At least when it is slow, like it is at the moment, i can work on my models. here's a few examples of some work... microphone done in true fire for the lead singer of a local metal band blue fire on a golf club eddie van halen "frankenstrat" done in black, white and blue for a local client (before clear) turtle design on a computer mouse Triumph Daytona Val Moto replica (all logos are paint...there's no stickers on the bike)
  23. george, i wasn't trying to correct you. i was there today and, as always, i was not disappointed (other than not having enough money). they got quite a few of the recent round2 releases and several of the revell 65 stepsides. no problem. i won't be that far from you if you'll be in clearwater. when are you moving?
  24. rob, it is indeed the same folks. they had a store in NPR and one on on ft. harrison rd in clearwater. they closed both locations and opened a "central" location. House of Hobbies 37700 US Highway 19 North Palm Harbor, fl 34684-1020 Phone: (727) 943-5800 Phil's is a good shop...scratchbuilding supplies are a bit on the slim side, but they are willing to order things for you. Phil's hobbies (727) 545-1251 6050 Park Blvd Pinellas Park, FL 33781 there's ralph's hobbies on 66th street in pinellas park. he only carries models and amateur radio stuff. he doesn't have much in the realm of scratchbuilding supplies, but he is always looking/buying collections of models so he has a good selection. he also has 2 or 3 large plastic crates of misc parts. Ralph's Hobbies (727) 547-8607 5208 66th St N, #D, St Petersburg, FL 33709 that's about it in the immediate area. there are a few in hillsborough county. there is a place on gulf to bay that is called clearwater trains. as the name implies, they are all about trains. but they do have some scratchbuilding supplies. as far as clubs, there is M.A.G.S. (modeling associates of the gulf state) http://mags.name/ i have not attended one of their meetings, but i have been to one of their shows and plan on going to the one at the fairgrounds on october 10 & 11 i hope this info helps a bit.
  25. All i can say is OUCH! As soon as i saw that pic, my finger started twitching. I went back at it on the Nova and got the trunk opened, and the doors removed. now i just have to hinge them and go from there. i'm taking it easy for now. really doesn't hurt too bad, unless i straighten it. i go back today so they can check it and make sure that it isn't infected. i'll keep ya'al posted on what they say. happy modeling, Fatkidd
