  1. If you are old enough to remember the COLUMBIA HOUSE record clubs, well, those things would get stolen all the time out of peoples' mail boxes, so the company started not sending to particular ZIP CODES . . . if you are absolutely concerned my advice is to get delivery confirmation and insurance and at leas buy a little peace of mind!
  2. Andy, if I am expecting a big shipment of kits or anything else that's worth something to me, I will have it held at the post office until I can swing by to pick it up. My trouble has been with all my model magazine subscriptions getting "lost" before they arrive in my mail box, and those that DO arrive always look pretty beat up, as if everyone read them on their way to me.
  3. Here's someone who has taken it a step further: Here's a link you might find interesting: http://www.tvleak.com/overflow/halloween-costumes-for-your-car/
  4. For those of you who are thinking BIG, almost BIGGER than ELVIS, here's a link for ya: http://www.ratfink.com/
  5. For those of you looking for spikes, here are some options: 1. toothpics 2. nails/thumbtacs 3. plastic dart tips 4. stretched sprue bits 5. golf Tee, although they might be a bit off scale. Hope you find this useful.
  6. Andy, are you speaking in tongues? Is that the effect this thread has made on you? Or is a Greek or Roman character you are intending to play? LOL!
  7. By the way, all time periods in History are available or up for grabs, the trick would be what to do with your model and what you choose to do with it. Again, plenty of time to do whatever research you need to . . .
  8. Very nice work, Dale. That chassis is looking great.
  9. By the way, if you are interested in having some more fun with this type of build, check this out: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=52127&pid=619686&st=1280&#entry619686 We'd love it if you would consider joining the CARAVAN.
  10. Hadi, wonderful build, I love it. Those paint spatters are very well done. Excellent subject matter all around. Thanks for sharing and welcome to the forum.
  11. Gee, Rob, I am touched. If Doctor Cranky runs for President, would you like to be his running mate? :D We'll make sure EYEGORE never finds out! Listen, everyone, I KNOW it's TOO EARLY FOR HALLOWEEN STUFF, but another friend on the forum mentioned the idea and I could not help but bring it to your attention this early in case you want to prepare, get you salivatin' and building, if that's what you desire. I'm already tracking down the basic elements of my costume, which includes, you guess it, a kilt! Here's another cool link: http://www.scifistoreonline.com/tag/costume/
  12. Nice job, Brett, nothing beats a mirror finish. Love the color too.
  13. Welcome to the forum, Elliott, can't wait to see more of your builds here, buddy.
  14. Well, a lot of these kids move from the school buses over to the Party Buses, lots of people have them now where they get rented for Proms and other school occasions . . . just like the limos . . . and parents really, again, are to blame for it all. I know some parents who pay for their kits to rent hotel rooms when Prom comes around so that they can party without having to drive drunk, which is a great idea, but of course the partying is another issue . . .
  15. Nice graphics and stance on yours, John.
  16. JB, I love the way it looks . . . you almost have this one in the bag. Nice work, chap.
  17. Mike, I find that your tactic works for me quite often. I will take my on-the-road tool kit to another part of the house, like the porch, and build something there. I used to be able to watch TV and build at the same time, but the tv was also not allowing me to focus on the model as carefully as I should have been.
  18. Jim, I think they are picking up a lot of fans in almost every major city. Something tells me too that it must be fairly easy to pass inspection and get approved to run such a truck. Back when I was a kid, my old man and I sold ice cream out of a truck and I tell you the regulations and inspections and fees finally put us out of business.
  19. Ken, what you can put your finger on is the neat idea that not all builds have to be TZH's, meaning Zombie Hunters. They can be for the other side, ZOMBIE CARS! Love the idea . . . and your build represents that kind of infection. I hope a few more folks will build something from that angle as a way of keeping the fun going!
  20. Fabulous build, Curt. Congratulations on adding to the eye candy quotient of this forum.

    Wonderful job, I like it.
  22. For those of you who will need further inspiration, here are some useful links: http://www.costume-shop.com/ http://www.halloweenmart.com/ If you really want to go all out, you can rent a costume: http://www.costumerentals.org/ I think the best option is to build it from scratch . . . Also, for those of you looking for older, unavailable kits, try: http://www.modelroundup.com/
  23. Eelco, come on, we all start at the same place. Don't feel bad. Make your progress at your own pace, nobody is going to tell you otherwise. There's no hurry, buddy. Take it easy and enjoy the fact that his is going to be a STRESS FREE zone!
  24. Back to the subject at hand. I think many of us might be tempted to use what is readily available right now in kit form, like the BAT MOBILE, SPEED RACER, DUKES OF HAZZARD, etc . . . those would make interesting possibilities. I guess you can go as overboard as you would like with either the model or the costume, that's precisely what would make all of this so much fun!
  25. Thanks, everyone for your support and for being a part of the conversation. It's refreshing.
