  1. Wow, that is one cool trophy, congratulations, John!
  2. That's a good market to advertise in . . . more power to them.
  3. Andy, nice collection. I really love all those VWs they put out.
  4. Robert, thanks for the headsup. I'll look into those kits you mentioned. I think they would make a great diorama.
  5. Wow, I went to bed early last night and now I am up early reading catching up on the extra number of pages. At first I did not know what was going on because I have several people on IGNORE (they know who they are), and I find it mind-boggling (and I think the moderators find it mind-numbing) as to why they continue to pester me and the other good people on this forum who just want to keep building and having fun. This preoccupation with subject matter and the number of posts I make is a strange fixation in part because I am not the only one here working away at making this place a lot more fun and entertaining for everyone. I am not the only one with high post counts. What boggles the mind is how many times they will have to be told NOT TO tune in, to put the Doctor on IGNORE, etc . . . by this point I am beginning to think it's got to be LOVE. You know how some relationships begin with distaste and all-out hate? Then turn to LOVE? Hollywood LOVES those types of stories. Boy, and then some of these folks accuse me of needing a life. At least the life I make here is often a pleasant experience of others. I neither disrespect folks by being totally dismissive of their ideas nor pretend I am better than anyone else. I don't police people's ideas, motivations, thoughts, freedom of expression, etc . . . Anyway, the IGNORE button is my freedom of choice in this matter, but I would urge the folks who keep pestering the people who post in my threads to have a little bit of self control and dignity. Also, doing this kind of thing to always try to push moderators into LOCKING down perfectly good threads is getting pretty old, and pretty childish.
  6. Actually, Rich, these ideas usually strike me during the day, but this one was donated by someone else, a kid with a great imagination and who is always very excited to build models. My attitude is why not share the good ideas with everyone and see who would be game for something like this.
  7. Cool way to keep a collection going, Joshua, and it's reasonable too, then again for all I know you might have your room full of Mustangs!
  8. Ken, those are cool. My favorite is that first one. What medium did you use for that one?
  9. Now you are talking. Yeah, that's it. Shoot, the 50s alone can generate a whole bunch of great combinations. I've never been to Graceland (not yet anyway) but I hear the King has all his cars there. Another idea to look into, sure. All you have to do is mark it on the calendar and keep an eye open for that special kit that's going to trigger the costume idea!
  10. Oh, I can tell you that upon first impression I am going to be getting the popcorn ready to lean back and enjoy this one. That first pic shows the perfect look for this build.
  11. I think you have the right idea in mind for it. I think it will turn out looking real cool. Go for it.
  12. LOL, you have some very nice items in your collection, including an impressive array of HO scale cars.
  13. Which is the beauty of having an organized system of putting WIPs back in their boxes and mark them so you can always spot them at a glance.
  14. John, back in that first picture you posted, what is that model the other gentleman is holding, or is that a trophy?
  15. My old man worked in a furniture packing plant in L.A., and one summer I worked with him and I used to love those trucks coming by, then again, I was a kid and my appetite was just starting to expand. Those of you who are posting pictures, thank you, I think these are always going to inspire someone some time to build another great model and share it with us here.
  16. Mercman, those are beautiful. I still get those box sets, but, like you, I have also given away lots of Hotwheels to the kids in the family.
  17. Thanks, Andy. Lane, pay attention, you DON'T have to dress up as your favorite driver. Just think about the connection between a model you could build and a costume you would think it's cool to wear. For example, you like Jame Bond, that one is easy. Pick one of his many subjects that is in kit form, and then you can dress up like James Bond, pick your favorite Bond, etc . . . Get the idea?
  18. Don't fixate on the number of posts, we all know that is meaningless. It means nothing. It also means that Doctor Cranky gets excited about sharing some of the building fun with everyone here, always ideas meant to be taken or not. Check out the top 10 out of 20 top posters list. Learn the list well. Do you jump in and remind all these other folks they are posting too much? Just curious, why single me out?
  19. Okay, just bringing up the idea now in case you want to start planning, etc . . . So to simplify matters: This is not a contest or a community build, this is just relaxed all the way. You can dress up and or build a matching model that has something to do with your costume. Oh, and I guess it should also include single, dual, multiple wheel type vehicles, this way we don't leave out folks who want to do motorcycles, trikes, and any other type of vehicle.
  20. Rob, there are literally thousands of threads on this part of the forum as well as others, there's plenty of room for you to stretch out your intellect and model building interests. I want to know when was the last time Doctor Cranky rained on your parade or was dismissive of one of YOUR threads? Mutual respect and co-existence, chap, it's the way people live out in the real world. No hard feeling, just plenty of choices. Rick, EYEGORE wants to be Doctor Cranky!
  21. Folks, the intention here is not to get anyone who is not interested, or who doesn't celebrate Holloween for any particular reason riled up, and Harry my apologies if this sort of thread is making your moderating life a bit difficult. This thread in no way is intended to reflect any religious views or disrespect, etc . . . it's mostly shared in the most genuine spirit of building models and having some fun, that's all. This is also one of those ideas that includes all possible interest you might have in model cars, shiny or otherwise . . .
  22. Again, this was not my idea, but someone mentioned it to me and I thought it was brilliant and totally different, and for those who are going through a building slump, this might just help them get out of it. Oh, and the model can be in any scale, I don't see why not.
  23. Rob, I know we all have, but what I think will be different this year is if everyone builds a car and then imagines said car's driver. What he or she would wear. It doesn't have to be a model around the Holloween theme. You can build, for example, a rat rod and dress up like Jimmy Shine, or build a custom ride and dress up as your favorite customizer. One cigar, and you can instantly turn into a Bill Hines!
