  1. LOL! I was kidding you, buddy. I need my sleep too, although it's not coming on any time soon. I worked on the body, removed the door handles, and those flairs on the front right behind each light . . . I sanded the fenders smooth, etc . . . The more I work with this kit, the more I like it . . . the fact that the chassis fits the body so darn perfectly . . . We'll see. I am dreaming of suede for some reason . . . ocean mist or spray color . . . foam. I don't know . . . when the time comes, the color will reveal itself, I hope.
  2. Thanks, Dave, that's what I'm talking about, the WIP eye candy. Bring it on. Chuck, how about if we challenge each other to a couple of sleepless nights! You can beat me, I've got about 20 years on you. I'm an old man, c'mon! Take the sleepless weekend challenge! Now you see why EYEGORE worries about our Good Doctor Cranky? Not only is he crazy, but he is also boisterous about his insanity! All for the love of one cool lady: LADY STYRENE!
  3. John, that would get a lot of people excited at a car show, I'm sure. Thanks for the link, Harry. I appreciate it.
  4. Here are some of the original pictures (courtesy of Jim "Hollywood" Fernandez) of the build before it was finished . . . The original diecast donor (you can read along Jim's descriptions of what he did to it in the previous post): Talk about having way too much fun taking things apart! Again, the fun that could be had with a diecast: A beauty in the making:
  5. Well, thanks, but the idea is not for just ME to build this kit. Heck, I want to see YOU GUYS building this kit. Come on, eye-candy is a two-way street!!! LOL!
  6. Thanks for sharing the eye candy, J . . . looks like an amazing build in progress . . .
  7. Here's what Hollywood emailed me today about the build: OK, here goes. I received the trailer and airbrush from Ken in light grey primer. The truck is a diecast. I disassembled the truck. I lowered the suspension. I used wheels and tires from the Revell 29 ford rat rod kit. I sanded down the logos on the hubcaps, de-chromed them and painted them red. I sanded the truck body and fenders with 600 grit sandpaper. I painted the truck and trailer with two coats of Krylon rattle can flat white primer . I sanded the truck and trailer with 1000 grit sandpaper. I painted the fenders with rattle can Rustoleum America’s Finest gloss “Banner Red”. I painted the truck body and parts (doors, tailgate, etc.) and trailer with rattle can Krylon gloss Sun Yellow. I then put the truck back together. I applied the decals. Then I masked off the windows and sprayed everything with rattle can Model Masters dull clear coat. Then I reinstalled all of the door handles and chrome stuff etc.
  8. LOL! Yes, bring it on! Let's get a-CRANKING on these kits . . . let's see who is going to do the first FIFTH ELEMENT STYLE FUTURISTIC version. Get your STYRENE ADDICTION CRANKED UP!
  9. As promised, here's my unboxing of it . . . I hope you will be going through the same as soon as you get the kit . . . let's round up some builders and build a few of these . . . what do you say? LONG LIVE STYRENE!!!
  10. Beautiful, that is going to be one fabulous model. Keep it going. It looks like October is going to roll in full of amazing eye-candy on this forum!
  11. Thanks, Andy. Yes, I think Ken Hamilton had a blast building it. He used the trailer from the Midget Racer . . . as a foundation and everything else is scratch-built, including using pieces of an old Paasche airbrush.
  12. Well, a pair of kits have arrived in the Lab-RAT-ory, and I thought it'd be a great idea to start the month (and the Fall Seaon too) off with an all-out, eye-candy shoot out of the kits you build and finish (and hopefully post your progress pics) here. Stay tuned in for a quick unveling of what's in the box (a short vid) to get everyone salivatin' and CRANKED UP!!! Happy BUILDING, everyone. The kit should already be at your LHS ( I got mine at Hobby Town), but I've also ordered some extras from MODELROUNDUP in Atlanta. EYEGORE loves, LOVES, the smell of fresh styrene in the morning! Cheers, DC
  13. Thanks, Derrick! I am sure Ken and Jim appreciate all the great comments.
  14. Oh yeah, that's it, that's the perfect look. Another amazing model. The talent on this board is just first-rate! Keep up the great styrene addiction!
  15. I just got mine today, so I am looking forward to opening the box and seeing what it says to me.
  16. I keep returning to this one . . . something beautiful about it that keeps the Lab-RAT-ory CREW salivantin!
  17. I love this thread! Keep it going, keep the great names (past and present) coming! Ricky Couch Tommy May Tim Kustom more, more, more . . .
  18. Yes, but without pictures is like . . . well, it's like not knowing what is going to make you salivate!
  19. OH my, this is going to be another jewel in your collection. You are off to a tremendous, eye-candy-filled start. Keep it going, Cruz. Take your vitamins and keep it going! Great drybrushing on that chassis. It looks perfect.
  20. LOL! I'll find out from Jim as soon as he answers my email. You can't tie our good Doctor Cranky down because you have to fight off his Lab-RAT-ory Security Detail first! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. LOL!!!! I think it is, and I know for certain that the accordion player must be related to EYEGORE! By the way, if this is a real band, I'd love to hear some of their music. I'm in the mood for some twisted Polka! LONG LIVE FLACO JIMENEZ!
  22. Thanks, Ken . . . I don't know what kind of red that is, or paint line, I'll have to ask Hollywood Jim what he used. Thanks for staying tuned in . . .
  23. Wow, that's looking just right. Keep it going. It's going to be a fantastic model. Take your vitamins and keep it going.
  24. That is one beautiful "blue" paint job. Excellent model. Congrats.
  25. Thanks, everyone. Yeah, I'm really thrilled to have this one in my collection. The truck is a diecast that I am sure Jim Fernandez had in his collection and decided to take apart and then repaint. Goes to show you how much fun you can have with the right diecast subject!
