  1. Nothing special or fancy about this one other than it's an old model that I don't know if you guys had seen it . . . first time Doctor Cranky felt that he was getting the hang of using rattle cans . . .
  2. Wow, that's a fabulous way of showcasing your builds. I love it. Very cool.
  3. Thanks, Albert . . . lately I've been thinking that these boat-sized cars are perfect for all sorts of graphics . . . etc . . .
  4. Wait while I POP my eyes back in. This build is beautiful. All those details are paying off. The interior is one of the better interiors I've seen in a while. Love it. Take your CRANKY VITAMINS and get this beauty finished. More, more, more . . .
  5. Slammers are fun to build and paint. They make great weekend projects . . .
  6. I'm looking into the Iwata Sprint Jet, which is really for nail art airbrushing, but I think it will be fine for some detail acrylic work.
  7. Great spray booth and paint stands. Nice.
  8. Thanks, Junior. Actually I went to Amazon.com and punched in Divco diecast and a few came out, including one painted in white, which is the one I got . . . and I'm just going to do some mild things to it, but I can see how it IS a great canvas for paint.
  9. Thank you. Actually, the build is box stock except for a couple of little details I put on the interior, like the mesh covering the speaker grills, etc . . . Like I said, it's a beautiful kit, but I think it's hard to find. Also, if I'm not mistaken, there are two versions. One with an engine, and a curbside. It also reminds me of how much I enjoyed the Boyd Coddington show a few years ago before he died. He had Charly, the painter, who did these amazing paint jobs . . . I think he's working for Chip Foose these days . . .
  10. Here's a quick little build that's fun to paint, but probably hard to find these days . . . I used flip-flop paint on this sucker . . . hope you enjoy it . . .
  11. Thanks, buddy, can you tell me what kind of PSI pressure you get from it. I ask because I am looking at getting a lightweight portable compressor to take on the road, and I remember I had one like yours but without the modifications you've made to it . . . etc . . .
  12. Thanks, Kane . . . your kind words and support keep the Lab-RAT-ory A-rockin'.
  13. Junior, what a great little addition to your collection. That's a great model. And you've inspired me to work on one, so I ordered one . . . THANK YOU!
  14. Oooh, I really like those vehicles, and can't wait to see what you do with them.
  15. Wow, Cecil, that's a great set up on that compressor. How many PSIs do you get from it. I'm assuming it's a Badger compressor or something like it. 1.2? Hope you airbrush your heart out, buddy. We need out Daily Eye-Candy Allowance!
  16. Wow, Slantasaurus, it sounds like you are a hard person to please. Holy smokes, and NO, it was not meant as a commercial, it was meant as a cause for celebration because last time I checked there are few model car books on the market, by this point, probably none. Nobody wants to do them these days because they say there's no money in it and they are right, except that AK-INTERACTIVE and the Lab-RAT-ory are thinking of bringing new products to the market specifically for Model Car Builders. Ways to invigorate the hobby, etc . . . And I agree with you, since obviously this does seem like a commercial, I will tell you what I tell my students all the time: If you think it is easy or not a big deal, then here's my advice: Sit down, write your own book, open your own YouTUBE Channel, invent your own product, and put it out there on the market . . . do something to try to help as many people in this hobby as it is humanly possible, be generous and forgiving, and always keep an open mind about where the hobby is headed. It's simple to do, so do it! Just my ten cents, buddy, and no hard feelings!
  17. All right, my friends, the last video is up and running. Enjoy and hope you will support the Lab-RAT-ory efforts . . . Yours Truly, Doctor Cranky http://www.youtube.com/user/damncranky666?feature=mhum
  18. Too late, EYEGORE has already started the countdown . . .
  19. Lovely and beautiful bike. Great job.
  20. Mr. Downie is right, that's what it looks like. And to think they struck gold with the VW Beetle in fact because it had the round, smooth surfaces.
  21. Doctor Cranky LOVES, LOVES, LOVES this model . . . and GRANDMA should be happy!
  22. I definitely like Harrys design better, but it still looks too much like a larger ELEMENT or one of those other BOXY cars . . . when in doubt go with the vintage design. I don't understand, what happened to putting curves and tail fins and fat fenders on cars? I miss those.
  23. That's a wonderful story, Aaron. My father worked the factories in Los Angeles and he never had time for any kind of hobby, but he did pass down his 1965 Dodge Dart, and then I sold it. BIG MISTAKE, it was a wonderful car. You live and you learn.
  24. Here, let Doctor Cranky tell you a little story. A few months after I got back into the hobby (years ago now), I remember opening the pages of, I think it was, PLASTIC FANATIC, or some such magazine and I stumbled upon the work of Mr. Bill Borgen with that amazing 40 Ford Clown car he had built, and then I saw more of his work, which is all thematic, and it's all tongue-in-cheek humor, and ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL, and his stories and models made me want to build my own stories and models. The same happened with Pat Covert (Hogdoo Grundy) and Ken Hamilton (Mr. Wildhare)--I am not comparing myself to those amazing builders, but what I am saying is that these builder passed the hobby fever down to me. This is the way it works. You invite builders to have FUN building model cars and once they are hooked, they are usually hooked for life. And that IS and HAS TO BE a beautiful exchange between strangers (actually these three builders Doctor Cranky considers wonderful friends now), but the point is . . . you have to FEED YOUR HEAD, you have to keep having FUN . . . you have to ENJOY your hobby, otherwise, what is the point? I respect everyone's opinion on this forum, even if it might not be my cup of tea.
