Selling your builds?
1930fordpickup replied to Dragfreak's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Jason I see your point about the cash flow. If you do not sell any you can not build more models. If you do sell them just wrap as people have mentioned above. Just start the bidding for the price of the kit and add a few dollars for ebays cut. -
Would an Ardun be acceptable?

The V8 flat head was already there to start with so why not. They also used the good old Caddy and Olds V8's also. -
A pattern shop I worked at 22 years ago had an epoxy called the west system. The boss used it to glue his swim platform together for his boat. That was the strongest glue I ever worked with.

So where are the bottles sold all I find are tubes? I must be looking just past them thinking they are something else. All two part epoxies have a shelf life. If your house gets very not in the summer it will affect the epoxy as it does with two part filler and epoxy for me.

"Unbuildable"
1930fordpickup replied to johnbuzzed's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My skills make them unbuildable not the plastic. Yes some are not so easy or even worth the price but it is modeling after all. -

Maybe go with a dry sump oil pan and injection on top for the lower hood. -

Something to Ponder
1930fordpickup replied to jwrass's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Drag Racing Models If it goes in a straight line, post it here! NASCAR For all you NASCAR fans out there! Trying not to stir the pot anymore than has been done already , but if WE look at the description of the two topics that involve racing you would understand why people get a little confused where to post things. No wording other than nascar and straight line racing. if you go to the trucks section there are many different places to post and descriptions are much better. Lets face it indy,raley,F1 cars do not fit into these two descriptions . Just a small name or description change would clear this all up. Nothing needs to be added as far as a section. -
As always grab a scrap body and try it out. Tools are like women, they are an eye (or in this case )hand of the beholder. If you have a good grinder at home you can sharpen the picks to your liking.

Geographically Unique Trucks
1930fordpickup replied to vincen47's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Michigan has more axles because of the extra weight that they are allowed to carry here. They feel more axles to spread the weight out on, Just plain stupid. They can not leave the state that heavy so why carry that much. -

model kit prices
1930fordpickup replied to rsxse240's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I understand where you are coming from about cost of some kits. Just a few points about the cost in my head. Say you want to build a Ranger kit but can not find it at a local shop. What do you do? Drive a 100 miles to find it ? The shipping is cheaper than the gas. Around here there are two shows within an hour of my house drive. October and March. One hobby shop 1/2 hour from my house and a hobby lobby and michaels that carry current stuff. The hobby shop is pricey but just cheaper than ebay with shipping. I have been told there are a few North of me 1 hours away, again gas is not cheaper than shipping for one kit. Buying supplies or more than one kit it would be worth the drive. If you live in the middle of two big cities or none around you that 40 dollars is not to bad as it seems. If you have a local show try to get a table and sell as much as you can. The show table cost will be less than ebay/paypal charges as long as you sell enough kits. As far as what most kits go for at local shows 15 to 20 bucks. I would say the ranger kit would fall in that slot of not current but not long out of production. Many kits go fro 10bucks for the guy trying to clean up around the hobby room. But these are the kits everyone is trying to sell. Current NASCAR kits are 5 bucks. -
Was that from the muppets? It is funny.

Welcome back to the hobby Jeff. Scenes Unlimited is a great company. I have not purchased anything from VCG. Good move to ask before you buy from resin casters. -
This is a very common thing to happen to people . I know my _ _ _ _ _ wanted you to have this. I do not want it but you can give me money for it, at my over inflated price .

Seems like working with what have on hand to me. We have a local outfit called Goodies Truck Parts, they sell bits and pieces all over the world. I was told this is what was done with all the parts. I would see truckload after truckload of parts leave that place. It is easier to sell parts to people in other Countries than the whole thing. Back in the 70'S for advertising they put a truck cab in a country bar for the DJ booth.

Welcome the GT40 looks good. -
Very cool. Love the Hemi headed Olds. To bad Olds did not make this an engine for the public.
