You know, they could either tool new cab/bits for the current 56 as mod reissue like the 69 Shelby convert, or convert the 55 Monogram. If done well, it may work. No idea how the Testors Boyd cars sold, but that's a point to look at. I can't stand errors, but they haven't decided what they're doing and people either hate Foose, or are pessimistic about issues. Give them a break. They're investing, and aiming stuff at the lunatic fringe that will maybe lure people in. I'd expect some time on Overhaulin' too, like the other show. I'm up for them, just no boring stuff. And at least Chip makes car safer and well built. Gas Monkey builds for the flip. I like the show, but only a few I'd buy from them, sloppy quickie builds not my taste.

One way to get around measuring and proportioning issues Bwahahahahahaha. Can't imagine a retool, wish it was 1/25. Old Bat-cycle wasn't 1/25, but it's labeled 1/25 now too. didn't buy until I heard, but never heard anything about the kit.

If you hate "old tools", this thing predates most of them. Just sayin'. Glad it's back, neat for what it is. Need the 59 Dodge now. -

JC this thing is sweet. Escorts rock, the Mk.I coming is a long hoped for car. Went looking for my Mk.2, but must have sold it. Need another, won't do it justice like you are though. L -

Yep. People like Sledsel and others who've posted TONS of photos of 1:1 noting nothing has changed on test shot. I said pages ago let's see what changes, but this looks like same car from before. Each person pointed out they're buying multiples anyway. But thanks for your dismissal like all the other refuseniks. Guess we'll have to wait for final tool. I'm buying a few. How many for you? -
What Do New Kits Have Inaccuracies
keyser replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You're correcting things that didn't scale well. It is the same on your conversion as it is with a real kit. But since the company's ONLY task is to do the same scaling/proportioning thing OVER and OVER with each kit, why do they not plan accordingly and look at the thing the same way any of us do? "Not rocket science". Yep. Lather, rinse, repeat. Not life or death- no, it's $$$$. Feeding family. Not for us, not for your conversion, but for people who do the VERY SAME THING on a new kit. If it takes more time than 2-3 days, Ooooooh. Lets see, at $75000 a year, 3 extra days is $900. Wow. Really going to cut the margins. Deadline?? lets see, when do new tools hit deadlines? After several years of planning?? Crybabies? You complained about rescaling. In a conversion, par for the course. Those of us that do that do so automatically. On a NEW kit? I could care less if the 9" diff scales out, or engine mounts wrong. Body, greenhouse, wheels? NO. Mistakes really have no excuse. So the same things you complained about looking odd and not scaling ARE WHAT SOMEONE'S JOB IS TO MAKE RIGHT the first time. I don't want to make big corrections on basic stuff. I buy MFH resin all the time, and even at a $3-400 price point, they miss stuff, but the BIG stuff is right. Yet again-NOBODY is asking for a perfect kit. How friggin' tough is that to understand? Yes, build and have fun. I'm happy to do corrections as you're doing on conversions. It is tedious and annoying correcting a NEW tool this day and age. If someone DOESN'T see a problem, woo-hoo. If you enjoy your burger and miss the hair in it? Awesome. If not, kills it. Not life or death either, but not "surprise and delight". Won't be eating there again (or not I guess). But those of us that DO see an issue (like yourself) aren't "crybabies" or whatever else the refuseniks call us. BTW, your conversion is beautiful. Seatbelts, stripe detail and size, top latch detail on the money appearance wise. If we get 85-90% of that in 1/24-5, I'd be ecstatic. (I'll let the lack of ISOFIX points in back slide ) <-joke -
Does anyone make a 1/24~1/25 Bertone Ferrari 250 GT?
keyser replied to LDO's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
250 SWB chassis 3269GT One-off body by Nuccio Bertone, his personal car. Giorgetto Giugiaro designed it. There have been some 1/24 masters floating around for awhile, hopefully to see casting sometime. Picture of 2 cars has 1739GT, another 250SWB one-off, also bodied by Bertone and drawn by GG. Both cars have been several colors, currently 1739GT is silver, 3269GT is blue. Sorry no 1/24 of either, but 3269GT has potential. 1/43 available, gorgeous details. -

Courier, but same idea. Here's some more ideas. I had very hard time finding 57 Ford professional cars. Superior used GM, usually Pontiac, Chev. H&E same. IIRC Perry Mason had 57 Ford coroner car in episode. Keep images coming. Or not. -

Off topic Scott, it's not a Nomad thread. Your bleating is moot I guess. Holding complainers to same standard. And from pages ago when you asked "Can you post more 57 Meteor Del-Rio pics??" and have done NOTHING to contribute any, here ya go. Post away. http://bit.ly/1yNqF2h Took 0.35 seconds, less than it takes to type "Waaaahhh off topic" -

Love it. I've posted 10+ photos in this thread alone of 1:1 Del Rios, more in a detail thread. All variants, for everyone. I love the black Del Rio The 'we're off-topic" whiners and the refuseniks have posted zero, despite 15+% of posts in here. Some even asked for more (Google and post up like I do). Really want this kit. F-Del-Rio and a nice side-oiler Del-Rio have parts pile started. Yes I know it's a Ranch Wagon. Sue me. Better yet, wish me happy holidays -

Strong work. Back to "mocking the flaw-spotters" So much for the funny moments of Latin and the post getting back to the Del-Rio. BTW, when you mock, make sure you know something about what you mock. You don't seem to know much about horses, gaits, or gallops. Google it, those of us that know horses don't want to teach you or argue about it. And fyi, horses are a lot smarter and nicer than many folks I know. Come to think of it, the glue made from hooves has more integrity than many too. Irony is Ben Hur chariot race is full of continuity issues. http://www.moviemistakes.com/film143 9 chariots start race, 6 out. 4 finish. Hmmm. Also, Ben Hur's horses change position. When the chariots are preparing for the race and at the starting line, the horse with the pink nose is third from the left, but at the end of the race, the pink-nosed horse is fourth from the right. I think the pic is flipped here. Guess now I'll get called a pixel counter. Wait, pixels didn't exist in '59. And it's an epic film. Not perfect. Still gladly awaiting the Del-Rio. Happy Easter and Chag Kasher v'same'ach May all humans and religions be respected as one. -
Thanks Vince, and glad it helped you, Ron. I like stuff like that too. It'll look great next to my Get Smart Alpine.

1/25 Revell '29 Model A Roadster 2'n'1
keyser replied to mrknowetall's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Awesome build Tim. Norm has such good rod stuff. The roadster and 5w are killer. I agree bench sweeper is great moniker. This kit, the Del Rio, all the deuces, and the midgets. Norms K-H wires on this will slay. -

Yessir, aware of that. Still quite useable, and easily driven to track. No reason to outlaw when the X-bow, other track cars, and these idiotic 3 wheelers are still legal. I'm about 50mi from COTA, and run out there fairly often. No reason not to drive it out there. Just knee-jerk legislation. I wouldn't commute or haul my wife and a yappy dog in it. My black lab would love it though -

Texas has made Atoms illegal for street use. Some legislator's kid got killed, so they're all bad. The stupid 3 wheelers are still fine though, as are KTR's. This state is nuts. Friend has one, blast at COTA. Just saw the dog. That's idiotic. -

Dunno, I just assemble. Can I build it stock?? Still cannot wait for this kit. I've got Norm's 29, and this will be great. Clear resin Duval or cut down Duvals so all we need is foil or paint on the frames. Mmmmmm. -

Funny thing is, many of us have same drive for excellence (not perfection, impossible, and only mentioned by refuseniks). Yes, they're MODELS. Should be pastime. It is a great one. But fixing something that should be correct, or at least closer, isn't really ok for a lot of us. Especially when all the research, design, tooling is as easy as it's ever been. My standards don't change per activity. So making a sandwich, building a kit, helping with homework, or in ICU, same standard, just less intense. The subjects coming now are pretty awesome. All have flaws but most aren't awful. I still buy stuff, just less, don't need another "fix this before I build it" sitting there. The drama comes from someone mentioning an issue/potential issue. Then the refuseniks start the "rivet/just models/be happy it isn't Palmer/looks good to me you're nuts/whatever", and demand adoption of their standards, or lack thereof. Lee, Bill, Tom, Chuck, all of us wouldn't let "meh" fly in our work, or for our kids. Why should we for a hobby? It isn't a hobby for the manufacturers. Lee -

Nobody all along has ever mentioned "perfect model" or "perfect world" except the excuse-niks. Mistakes are accidental oversights, random, not predictable. Mistakes, if real, can have varying degrees of excuses. Hiya Art. I'm excited about the Del Rio. Tried to get you to do one way back. It isn't model builder vs kit assembler. It's about expectations of quality, care, presentation of product. You have a Sherline, have made tons of masters, scratchbuild. You have a far greater technical level of building than I. We both have a dumpload of knowledge, albeit in diverse areas with overlap. But I'm not a kit assembler. I'm a builder. We all build to best of our abilities, and nobody here has right to call someone a kit assembler. You didn't, and I never would. I don't like flaws. I was paid to fix flaws, and not allowed luxury of "mistakes" with humans I worked on. Standards are pretty low with model cars, but unlike years ago, technology and research is hugely easier than tracking down a Malks or Elbert book, going to museums and measuring, etc. Case I'll return to is bumperguards that are tall, would dent the tailgate when dropped. I hope they are correct with wagon, not just carryover from sedan. So will they be there, or other issues with bumper splash and lower fender? Do I feel lucky? Are they easy to fix? Mostly, save chrome on guards. Do I want to fix them, when a 54 year old tool doesn't have an issue? Nope. Does that make me a "kit assembler"? Nope. Still can't wait for this kit, bought a stupid 57 Bel-Air convertible anyway, it'll be in my estate sale soon enough. Embraced fecklessness. Seemingly raising to art form in politics, business ethos, Murdoch media, and literary skilz. Meh. It's not what we do. It's who we are -

Bob, didn't you read Ron Hamilton's post #289 http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=95522&page=15#entry1388399 (quoted directly before your post) before you told us to "mold our own kits", number 4 on the criticism response knee jerk? Ron put it well, succinctly, and easy to read. Or the photos in post 230? http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=95522&page=12#entry1385679 Not subtle since you made parts more esoteric and obscure than these I'd guess Guess it baffles me why it's defensible to do it wrong, and offensive if someone points it out. No kit manufacturer (literally) left behind! Mediocrity-We do it best!!!111!!! Forgot to add- Ron and Andy are not the "usual suspects" when it comes to issues. So must be something there, ya think?
