Just shocked me after years of driving Fcars. Lane discipline and über haul prestige non existent here. I'd agree I'm bigger Fcar fan than others, Huracan is first vs 19. Lambo makes pretty good cars now VAG owns them. I buy motors attached to nice cars. The 10 is great motor. But car isn't a keeper. Some awesome diecast Huracan, F12, no 488 I've seen. Kalifornia who cares, it's an SL with horsey. Nice 650S and P1 diecasts. Still no 991 GT3 or GT3RS. Missing boat there, I think only 1 997 kit? The Fujimi 997 cup car. Diecasts pretty limited too. Welly seems to have Porsche license. Odd Tamiya hasn't done anything Porsche. Cayman GT4, 991 GT3 and RS would be welcome they did 934 so have license for something

OK, found box art from later issues under Lesney, and able to post AMT issue with Lesney MD address. Has to be '79-80 first issue of kit, but car was 76-77.

Hiya Art. The Rabbit kit was correct for any German built Rabbit thru late 79. in '80, Rabbit production started in Pennsylvania, except for Cabriolets and Diesels. Quality sucked, they had square headlights, vertical side markers, and chrome. 75-76 Rabbits carbureted, so the kit is a 77-79 CIS injected motor in a German body. No external differences, 78-79 had 1500's, 77 had 1600. Consistent with art directors car. The Scirocco had carb in 75-half of 76, kit has CIS injection and square bumpers like picture, so body is a replica of the 75-77 Scirocco, engine is a 76,5-77. Grille, bumpers changed a lot to wraparounds in 78, so it is an earlier car. Scirocco was issued as AMT but had Lesney on box, Baltimore address, so probably 79-80. Cant post pic of boxes, but it had Matchbox AMT issue PK4153, right after AMT #2002 issue with Baltimore addy. Why do I care about this stuff Art? Because cars, I guess. Same as you old friend. I know these things like you know early Fords Hope you're well. L

Verified. Took couple runs, stupid chemo neuropathy so hard to feel chrono button on wheel. I saw 2.5-2.6 sec for a few runs, so repeatable. No launch control. GT3RS is far better actual car than 'Can. Plus tracking at COTA is no contest. Still, missile is missile. And the Huracan is great looking car, evil headlights. It and the wagon only 2 cars I've ever had that people move over for. Happened 4 times today, no flash, was just driving, they moved over. People like Lambos far more than Ferraris in real world when you're rolling.

Round 2 has brought back, restored a lot of kits that are fun to build. Restored stuff, cleaned up molds, and it always amazes me when I run across a 49-50 Ford or 49 Merc, 53 F100 kit in pile. I mess with them, because they're fun to build. Love what they're doing +1000. Fred Sterns always has great deals on kits too. http://www.fredsmodelworldonline.com/new.htm So get a 49, and a 50 convert, and go nuts. Welcome back. PS, a 49 Merc and 53 F100 brought me back 30+ years ago

Yeah, Scott, I think it's the 76.5-77 1600 with CIS. The wraparound turn signals and bumpers were 78 on. For whatever reason, the Scirocco got CIS injection mid year 76. Almost bought one, friend beat me to it, I got a 77 Golf 1.6. Forgot, the 76.5 CIS cars were all metallic dark brown, tan guts, had gold Scirocco shadow stripe on lower panel Nice kit, simple but looks nice when done. Great cars.

Well, kids, just slap a bunch of extraneous cr@p on an F12 kit, bump the price 40%, and sell it to "special customers". My Speciale is special. This thing makes a Z07 look subdued, and a lot more fluid. Plus, it's a hatchback! Sweet. No room for bags like my 599, but "better". Guess the axe they bought the styling department getting used, this thing and the 488 both have hacks. 250, 4-cam, 512TR all had nice ventilation detail. The new stuff is just ludicrous. Door is Hyundai Genesis, but less integrated. So, so sad. Hey Chuck, flogging along. Keeping RS, had G63 for a few weeks, now Huracan. That thing is way nicer of line than 488. Your Pocher build made me look at Lambos, 200 cars, this is first. Goes like stink, way faster than they say. I can't close console with V1 plugged in, no iPod USB jacks. My 6+ too long and wide for console, falls out of door pockets, so i drive with it shoved under leg. Not long for the garage, but because rocket it'll stay for a bit. 600mi in 2 weeks, haven't washed it. Sorry, prob shoulda used pm but anyway. Buy a Z07, a GT3RS, and an S63 for same money. Or an F450, 33 foot 5th wheel trailer, C6 Z07 track prepped, a late 550 Maranello, and a 360 Stradale with money left for slicks and gas. Hmmm. /rant.

Worse. A wart that wants to take over the world. Production will go up, cars get uglier, and they're already difficult about selling engines in F1. Piero owns 10% but he's passive. I'm waiting for more hatchbacks for 400k and the inevitable sport ute. Maserati doing one, SUV saved Porsche, so why not Ferrari? Shoot me now. Beat Sergio to punch with FF lift kit. I saw it still listed, I'd expect if it generates money, they may hurry along, and Rev G is previous licensee. Italeri kit wonderful.
-
Ha. You said Fiat and idiotic in same sentence. You guessed it I think. Maserati getting lumped in with Alfa and Lancia it seems. Still sources motors from Ferrari, some cars painted there. The sales projections for Alfa and Maserati are a scream. Fiat buying their product planners great crack. Great brands getting diluted and deluded.

Ferrari didn't renew license with Mattel. I think their license was for diecast, not models, and perhaps stuff like Barbie cars. The May Cheong group has the license since early '15, Maisto and Burago are 2 of their brands. I think Ferrari negotiates small licenses direct not thru second party like Mattel. The models and other fan stuff are fine. Hopefully Vettel and Kimi can drag F1 back despite team leadership. I know more new tools will come, just corporate changes slowed stuff down. Still thinking and praying for Schummi.

Full Review - Round 2's reissue of the AMT Dodge Deora Kit.
keyser replied to tim boyd's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Tim, thanks for another great review. I've got an original and several nice early builders, but I'm getting the re-ish too. Building fiddles, I've seen comments somewhere, about molding in pans front/rear and fiddling chassis to go in after the fact. I cut part of the frame ends off so pans get molded in, and the frame ends can get reattached at install. Lousy description, but chassis won't fit with pans. I think I messed with cutting clearance out of one of the pans to slide chassis in too, but I don't remember details and can't find my Deora/A100 box. -
No idea how Fujimi did it. My guess since kits issuing now? They did licensing with FCA, not "new Ferrari" legal/licensing. Rev-G prob hit the closed transition period between old and new. Licensing is not fast when you're dealing with legal. If you don't know, Ferrari is quite rabid about licenses, people get cease and desist orders over little stuff all the time. So, if the people that issue licensees says "not now", Rev-G has ZERO control. Fujimi probably got agreement early, ages ago since kits out now, and it had carry over clause, or renewal with "new Ferrari". Marchionne has nothing to do with licensing, so my dislike of his Piech-like management, etc. is irrelevant. Save for fact that he's bumping production, dumping FCA debt into Ferrari, and overall screwing up 30 years of work in less than a couple years. Sorry if you're offended. All of it is related, management by fear and profit makes people freeze, stuff doesn't happen, and just like many companies that have seen dark days, so it goes. I agree about MFH passing license fee along. Volume smaller, but 1/24-1/20 at $260 harder to bump than bigger scale that are commision builds likely anyway.

New company, so new marketing agreements. Not a G-Revell issue. Ferrari had IPO in October, initial pricing was idiotic at $52/share. Stock symbol is RACE. Stock went briefly to 60, and as of end of market today, was $40.02. http://www.modestmoney.com/ferrari-race-stock-set-decline-further/25726 Nice short article about the stock. Marchionne also graciously packaged a large chunk of FCA debt as part of the sale, so it added to stock overvalue. Ooooooooh, Ferrari stock. Buy a shirt and mug, it'll be worth more. Marchionne is an idiot. Luca de Montezemolo was treated poorly, but he has a very long memory, and far more power than Marchionne thinks he has. Sergio better look over his shoulder once in awhile. So, as Ferrari lovers, the kits are delayed so legal weasels can make their new licensing agreements. On the upside, we didn't lose ~20-25% of our money buying their stock 4 months ago. I forgot- FCA only sold 9% of Ferrari in the stock offering. They made $893M off the sale. Non voting shares. Basically wallpaper. I've bought a lot of their cars over the years, and this is just another "collectible" rather than a real investment. Real investments help people buy Ferraris off the dividends. Just sayin'.

1st Mercedes delivered to buyer
keyser replied to bbowser's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
At that time and era, he was a distributor and a dealer. Not a lot of stops on that pipeline. Certainly not a lot of customers then for them new-fangled things. Always slays me around here when people complain about smart phones, social media, etc. They'd have told Gottlieb and Karl to stick to horses and trains. If you look closely you can barely make out a young Art Anderson in the background. -
Revell (Germany) Ferrari 250SWB! New for October
keyser replied to Matt Bacon's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The block and heads are identical on the GTO SWB and LM. The LM had 6 carbs like TR and GTO. SWB comps and SEFACs had 3 carbs. The LM and 275 and 330 Ps were the last cars to use the columbo 12 i can provide lots more details if needed. You could probably use gearbox from gt40 or P4. HRM has detail kit for P4 that'd help, add 250 motor or rmcm 12 too. I've done an academy LM and a Drogo nosed car to represent the 65 lm winner. Academy body is a short nose car. Actually prettier than Drogo nose imo. Good luck. -

multiple projects
keyser replied to Lizard Racing's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Multiple. One stalls, I switch to another, and new stuff arrives that needs fiddling and appraisal before entering the "abyss of projects future". Parts assessment more important now that Don and Carol headed to retirement. Not wise to make a list to order later. Bummer. :^( -
Revell Fourth Quarter announcement
keyser replied to Mr mopar's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Or, as we should all hope, a new Ford GT in time for the 50th anniversary of the LM win. Conversion to Z28 couldn't hurt, nor a new GT350R. -

Dave, saw the Elliot car in NNL coverage. Looks great, urging me to do the LeMans car. Stock build looks fun too. Await your "Dude" build.
