Thanks Steve, Cliff and Carl. In 1974, when this style was new, I remember thinking they looked too square and I didn't appreciate all the vertical lines - but they've grown on me. I'm still not sure if this is a 77 or a 78.

Just a quick update. I got the grille and rear bumper detailed. A little sloppy in places but it might be about as good as I can get it. I have two of these kits and noticed that one had the sun-roof glass and the other not. I wanted to use the piece with the sun-roof but it had a cracked rear window so I removed the rear segment and replaced the three rear windows with clear sheet. I have also found appropriate mirrors in my parts box - the kit is an unassembled promo with 20 pieces (that's including the tyres) so it didn't have mirrors. I will probably now construct poseable steering.

Jonathan, it looks great from here! Beautiful black paint - and it's not a Camaro.

23" wheels are a few sizes too big for my taste but I like everything else about the model. Nice and clean, excellent detailing, looks great.

Not that I'm into guns at all, but those two are beautifully done.

That is a really beautiful model car!!! Steve, as I've said in my own WIP, your models are an inspiration to me and I'm sure to many others too. Looking forward to the next one.

Thanks a lot Dave and Mike. Mike the clear (and black) is out of the can and if I could take a more in-focus photo you would see that I have a fine-ish orange-peel in all these surfaces. I've never been able to do it any other way and have simply learned to polish them out - although that sometimes doesn't go too well either; the Coupe DeVille has a couple of spots where I've polished through to primer and I've managed to make it worse trying to touch up. Oh well. I've just ordered some 2K clear from Standox in Germany in the hope of overcoming such problems.

Some other models I'm working on, all fresh from the paint booth. The Eldorado was done with Gravity Colours Alcoa Aluminum with TS13 clear, not yet polished out. The Alcoa has very fine metallic particles and I'm using to mix other metallic colours. The Nomad was done with Zero paints - their Extra Fine Metallic Base mixed with their candy blue and green till I liked it, and a mint green for the roof. TS 13 clear, yet to be polished. And the Revell XK120, done with Tamiya TS14 gloss black, also yet to be polished. Wish me luck!

Thanks everyone for your input and encouragement. Jeff, I know the badges are not correct but I think they'll look great on the model - although getting them to lay nicely on the coarse vinyl roof will be a problem. A pity Global Toy doesn't make decals for classic American kits. Steve, the interiors you've shown have been my inspiration to put a bit more effort into my own. Ron, I hope you get back to that Eldorado. I had the same stalling problem with a 60 Desoto - I decided to deepen the shallow interior and the model sat in its box for a decade! I have the much more common 76 Eldorado on my bench at the moment - see below.

That red paint is perfect!

Nice work Dominik! Great paint job - and I agree, best colour they offered. I've only ever seen one on the road and it was this colour. Come to think of it, this is about the only built kit I've seen.

Got the interior mostly done. The green is air-brushed Zero acrylic and the carpet is Humbrol flat enamel, both colors mixed to compliment the body. The wood is also Humbrol flat brown with a coat of Future to give it a dull sheen. Still a way to go with this; grille/bumbers require some tricky detailing, the old glass has to be restored and I have to correct all the little mistakes I've made so far - but it's getting there.

Fantastic job, Randy! I've seldom seen this kit so well built. The kit is very nostalgic for me as I built one when it was new (I was probably 14) and was very proud of my work!
