Ron died in 2007, because of poor health he had not cast anything for several years before that. Pat is correct his widow is currently selling his personal collection on ebay. Sad for many reasons, he was a very good friend & his products were first quality.

Yes the NNL is still doing well, last year we had about 230 people & if memory serves 600 -700 models. As far as vendors who knows, John Carlisle runs the toy show part. The NNL rents our space from him. I thought that last year there was a good number of vendors, aftermarket & new & old kits. Not anything like the glory days of the '90s though, but in my mind worth the trip.

I think there are many resons for the downsizing of the toy show. The tax nazis & ebay are only two. I believe the aging of the people who are interested in this sort of thing, & little new blood coming into the hobby. I was 21 or 22 when I first went to the Toledo show I'm now 55. Another thing is I am buying very little new stuff, at my age I've come to realize that I'll NEVER build what I have now. In the last couple years I have reduced my stash by a couple hundred kits. I know that is a gloomy veiw of it all but I don't see anything changing to improve the outlook.

That's correct.

OK here is the scoop. John Carlisle decided after MUCH thought to move his toy show back to a one day show on Sunday. He will have vendor set up & floor rights on Saturday. After a lot of discussion we decided to move the NNL to Sunday also. We did not necessarily like to , but at the time it seemed the best option. After a couple months of hearing from many long time NNL supporters that Saturday would be a much better thing & after a whole LOT more discussion we moved the NNL back to Saturday from 1-7 pm. To make the whole thing a bit easier for everyone John C came up with the idea of some kind of joint admission. So here is what is going to happen this year & if it works into the future. Every PAID $10 admission to the NNL will receive a coupon good for a $4 admission to the toy show Saturday only from 1-4 pm. On Sunday the regular admission applies. No one knows how this will work out, all of us from the Cleveland Automotive Modelers & John Carlisle hope it is successful.

I don't want to be rude but that info has been listed in this forum's calendar section for months, but thanks for posting it. We are hoping for a very large turnout of Chevys !

Age restriction or discrimination
jas1957 replied to Austin T's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
As the others have said, enjoy being 16 it goes SO fast. I'm 55 & my car insurance may not be real expensive but I just sent a check for $2800 to pay my annual home property tax. So you will always have some major expense or another your whole life. Just roll with it & enjoy whatever time you have. . -
Building With Gloves
jas1957 replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Many years ago I purchased a package of inexpensive cotton gloves ( maybe photo finishing ? ). I use them while doing final assembly so as not to get finger prints on anything. Wish I could remember where I got them. -
Modelhaus Order Question
jas1957 replied to 71drolds's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
They clearly state orders take 4-6 weeks. I've ordered many times from them & orders ALWAYS arrive in that time frame. -
62rebel mentions Darts, I had a 74 Dart Sport with factory 3 speed on the floor with a slant 6 & bench seat. I bought it used in late 76, the cool looking shifter is one of the reasons I bought it. I recently saw a 66 full size Ford with 3 OTT & a 6.

Replicas & Miniatures of Maryland has a very nice one complete with everything including some speed parts. Not sure the cost. -
Early Chevys had T-head 6 cylinder engines. I was just looking & could only find a couple photos of a 1913 car that the Sloan Museum in Flint MI owns. They claim it is the oldest running Chevy & the second oldest in existence.

That is GREAT news, since the NNL Nationals theme this year is 100 Years of Chevrolet we would love to see some 1911 Chevys there. It would be super if they were out in time for some to be built up for the show. Of course put me down for at least one.

That exact thing existed back in the 70's. Was sponsored by MPC, I believe the last year was 1978. Local contests were at various auto-rama's. With the national championship at where ever the ISCA championship was that year.

1956 continental mark 2
jas1957 replied to Kaleb's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think those were the A/C ducting, not positive though. The MK II is a car that is very much needed in plastic or resin. -

Nice idea, I also like the quick release on the air hose. Didn't know they made them that small. -
How long to soak resin parts and in what?
jas1957 replied to nitro_force_fan's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I have had my Bleche White in a Rubbermaid container for years. When I'm done with it just put the lid on & put it back on the shelf. -
