  1. When I first saw that, I thought that it was chrome blades, from a scale combine, and you were going to make the car into a giant lawn mower!!
  2. WOW!! That looks nice!! I'd go with the first set of wheels, as well. For what it's worth, I went through like 3 sets of the Mach 1 decals, myself. The trick is to cut the rear decal, into either 2 or 3 sections. It makes it MUCH easier, to apply. Before I tried that, all I got was an unusable ball.
  3. I love the concept, and the front and rear end treatments look much better then the Challengers. But I am not a fan of the "Shaker" hood.
  4. I MUCH PREFER the stuff from Hobby Lobby, myself. It does not attack styrene, or paint. I prefer to pour mine from the spray bottle, into an empty Pro-weld bottle. You can use the brush, but it's really better to add an eye dropper.
  5. I got a D- !!! So I would suggest, that you stay out of my way, and off the sidewalks. Just let me pass, and you'll be O.K. (Edit: No, not really. ) (Even if you let me pass, you may still not be O.k. ! )
  6. There is a HUGE show in Daytona Beach this VERY weekend. Unfortunately it has nothing to do with models. But I'm still GOING!!
  7. NO!! It will crack, badly if you do. It's ok to use Enamel OVER Lacquer, but you cannot use Lacquer OVER Enamel.
  8. Not at all. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I would be happy to help, if I can. Well, I dunno about stock, they always start out like that, just never seem to stay that way for long!
  9. The wheel and tire combo on this is EXCELLENT!! Are these the kit's wheels? You state that you used better tires, what tires did you use? Great build!
  10. Dave, not sure I follow? The McLaren kit is supposed to represent the M81 or Enduro Mustang's. It just doesn't do a very good job of it. Anyhow, I didn't need the parts, from the request a while back for these. I needed those parts for the 2 Capri RS's, that I have yet to start. I was trying to plan ahead a little, for once. I didn't get as many parts, as I am going to need for those though. So the Capri's will have to wait, until I can get my parts bin built back up. I want to build them more stock like the Turbo Cobra, then wild like this one.
  11. CA Debonder, on a superfine Microbrush, makes a VERY good spot stripper. CA debonder also evaporates, so while it probably harms the environment, it won't harm the paint touch up.
  12. Your attention to detail is amazing!
  13. Great looking build, but we...need more pics!!
  14. That is a great build!!
  15. This is the companion to the Revell Turbo Cobra, that I built. (See it here, if you missed it:Turbo Cobra ) I used only one part from an MPC Fox Mustang on this build, to keep it "simple". The Interior: First I cut out the rear seat, and replaced it with sheet styrene. (I REALLY hate the rear seat that comes molded into the interior bucket!!) I then built a roll cage from styrene rod. I scrounged up a console, from a Honda Civic(?) and installed it, after making the necessary adjustments. I then salvaged a pair of buckets from a Mach III. I used the kit's dash, and steering wheel to finish off the interior. Black embossing powder was used for carpeting. The Chassis, etc: The chassis was salvaged from the parts box, and is actually comprised of three different chassis's, and styrene strips. Custom made sub-frame connectors, were once again added. Catalytic converters were again removed. Straight pins were used for exhaust hangers. The engine & suspension: The suspension was modified to accept a set of Fujimi Watanabe wheels. A convertible X brace was added to tie the suspension to the chassis. The engine from the Mach III Mustang Concept was used. The air intake tubes were modified, to accommodate it's new home. Radiator is from a 96 Mustang Convertible. Extra cooling fans from a Honda Civic(?) were added to the front of the radiator, to help cool the super-charged engine. The body: Modifications include; Removing ALL under hood components, and replacement with those from a 94+ Mustang. Addition of a strut tower brace. Addition of a "super-charger coolant reservoir" Removal of the Mustang fender flairs. Removing a section of roof to install a "t" bar. Installation of convertible mirrors, and mirror "block off" plates. Installation of a custom, rear spoiler. Modification to the front air dam. And customizing the hood. Simple huh?
  16. About 5-10minuts. I hope you have already pulled it off.
  17. Very nice. Where can I get a set of those wheels?
  18. I have edited the original post to include the details of the build, for those that wanted to know more.
  19. I am not a fan of Flowmaster mufflers. Other mufflers have a MUCH better sound. Southside lift bars, are only good for drag use. They will tear out your torque boxes on the street. (And they are a real pain in the rear to install!!) Global west makes a much better control arm. Sure, how's that? I have edited the first post , to include the mods that were made, as I remember them. I hope that helps?
  20. Like what? Don't be shy we're all friends here! Maybe, your ideas will be incorporated into the next one.
  21. I have been working on this one for a long time. This began life as a Revell Motorworks 1979 Turbo Cobra. Very little remains of the stock kit. The "new" interior : I trimmed off the sides of the original bucket, and added the door panels from an MPC Snake Bite kit. I then added a rear seat from the same kit. I am not sure where the front seats came from. I got them in a junk lot, and re-did them to match the rear seat. I then added the console, and dash, from the MPC kit. The dash was then sanded and filed to match the contour of the windshield. I am not sure which kit the shifter came from. Flocking was added to simulate carpet. The Build: I used a rear spoiler from an MPC Snake Bite kit. The taillight/ rear bumper is from a Revell Capri RS, or Mustang Street Machine kit. I then "borrowed" the sail panels from a Revell McLaren ASC, since the stock Turbo Cobra does NOT include them. The lower front air dam from the Turbo Cobra was trimmed off. The McLaren lower air dam was then installed, and modified to closer resemble the stock Cobra lower air dam. Side mirrors from an 88 MPC Mustang GT were then added. (The kit only includes one left side mirror.) The hood decal is from the kit, all others are from a Revell 99 Cobra, or AMT 97(?) Cobra kit. Wheels and tires are from the Saleen Speedster kit. The engine: The block and trans are from the Revell Saleen Speedster kit. The intake, is from the parts box (Nascar kit?). The air cleaner, carb, and valve covers are from a 1966 Mustang GT 350. The belt assembly is from the parts box. An air pump idler pulley bracket was custom made to keep the pulley from "floating" in mid air. A power steering pump was made from styrene rod. Details were trimmed from and then added to the kit's firewall. The wiper motor was installed, as were heater core inlet and outlets. The brake master cylinder from the Saleen speedster was installed into a custom made brake booster, after removing the molded in version. An ignition coil was added from the parts box, after adding a coil bracket made from strip styrene. An A/C Condenser, was fashioned from a parts box radiator, and installed into a "new" radiator support, made from sheet styrene. A radiator w/ overflow tank from a 96 Mustang Cobra was added to the new radiator support. The Chassis: The chassis was modified from a 96 Mustang Cobra Convertible by trimming the sides down, and cutting off the front sub frame. The stock 80 Cobra front sub-frame was then added to the 96 frame. Custom made sub-frame connectors were added to the chassis. The drive shaft was shortened a scale 2 inches. The exhaust for the 96 Cobra was modified by removing the converters, and replacing them with styrene rod. The stock rear suspension from the 96 Cobra Convertible was then utilized. The stock front suspension from the 96 was also used, on the modified front sub frame.
  22. Love that paint job!! Nice job on the rear fenders, too!! Very interesting custom. I have a very similar Camaro that I stalled out on, based on a Monogram 1/24th version. (It's only in primer though)
  23. I'm really surprised that no one but me has a problem with this statement. NO VARIATION in black paint? Hogwash!! Every color of black paint has a different mix. Black is NOT just black. Some are more yellow, some are more blue, etc. Compare 3 different black paints side by side in direct sunlight, and you will see a difference. Sorry, but there can be HUGE variations in black paint, just like any other shade.
  24. Someone should tell Chris that he can cut up the old molds, he has that aren't any good, and use them as filler for new molds. There is no reason to hang on to molds that are not any good, when you can reuse the material.
  25. I tried brake fluid once....ONCE!! Never again. There are ALWAYS other alternatives. And I don't use Purple power either, as it seems like a watered down version of Super Clean. NEVER use force. If a gentle scrubbing does not get it off, then try rubbing it off with 91% rubbing alcohol, or superglue debonder. NOTHING lasts for long, against super glue debonder. Just don't get it on any clear parts.
