1. Congratulations!! I know you'll do well.
2. It's on it's way to Envious8420. The ball is rolling! So here is the list I now have: (Revision 1) 1. Abell82 2. Envious8420 3. Cruzn 4. Len Geisler 5. 99Gt 6. TxRat 7. Pony Express 8. Dave Mikrut 9. Ictpacman 10. Lordmodelbuilder. 11. Roadhawg 12. *Matt LeBlanc* Alternates: 1.Jason Vandergriff 2.Showrodfreak
3. Um... yeah and it was all going so well, too! Dukefan it's posts like these that head down the wrong path...that well ...yeah...
4. I'm near Orlando.
5. Then your not really Canadian, just French! Even I know who Red Green is! Does that make me a Canadian?
6. I seem to have just caught one. It keeps popping up random windows. I tried the Superspyware stuff, but it did not help?
7. (...Tries to stear the topic onto a friendlier path) I think that Revell and Amt really are missing the boat, here. Companies pay Thousands, or even millions of dollars to have there images placed into movies ,and television programs. Aren't models cars just another form of advertising? Shouldn't Goodyear and Firestone be paying the model companies to place there names on the tires, if not then whatabout Kumho or Pirelli? or...
8. That looks great!
9. Thanks guys... Had to add a side view shot...
10. I was not sure, on how or where to start this project. However, with the help from a magazine that I found :Street Rodder Presents: A guide to building a 49-54 Chevrolet Street Rod (I'll be sending this along with the build, in case someone needs it.) I came to a decision. The Original Snowball began with a custom hood, and I thought I would too. But then I realized that the majority of players would be doing body work. So I thought I'd leave the body work for someone else and begin where the least amount of interest, and greatest amount of repair was needed. The frame. I decided, to try to make an Art Morrison Frame for our project. Here is what I started with... The rear of the frame near the fuel tank has a break in it, and is much thinner then the rest of the frame. I began by removing the fuel tank, and sanding the leafspring mounts and old glue off. I then tried to reinforce the broken section, and remove part of the frame. I then added material to the frame to make it more of a uniform thickness... Added a cross brace... Removed the trans mount, and bracing... Added some new material and removed some more old material... Added the drive shaft support... Added the holes for the exhaust to go through the frame, and the mounts to mount the frame to the body... Comparison photo, for fun ... I did have to modify the interior portion slightly to get this frame to work, but I forgot to take pictures of that. I have set up all the pictures for this in a public photobucket album. So you can see and follow it's progression, if these do not work. http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y255/abell82/MCMSnowball/ Unfortunately, it's too early to do much more then this, as I do not know what engine, trans, suspension, ect to set it up for. I'll be wrapping up the rest of it, and sending it on to the next member this week.
11. I 'm quite certain that Gregg has his reasons. Like the updates to the forum for one.
12. Quick update... I have given up on getting Gregg's input, and began working, on my part of this build. I will be sending this project on to the next player very shortly. Unfortunately, it's late and photobucket is down. Or I'd show a pic.
13. I have never ordered from them, but I think that you are looking for : http://www.freewebs.com/bigjeepzzresin/ Oh, and welcome!
14. Just curious... How many of the problem's that the Mustang had were caused either directly or indirectly by you? Seems like a little bit of maintenance could have repaired most if not all the problems that you mention. I hope that you take better care of this one. Best of luck to all of you.
15. I'm all for limiting the size of the signature! I really hate when people have 2 paragraphs of words and ten pictures in their signatures. It's just plain over indulgence. Just my .02$
16. I have just checked on the new and improved site. I have not read all the replies yet, but how do I create a gallery? It tells me I'm not allowed?
17. Looking real good! I tried some adhesion promoter, on a kit once, and it crazed badly. so be careful if using it on a kit.
18. Actually, no it was not. I was referring to the one made by White97LX? It's very rough, but yet still interesting to me. I think, that if he had taken a little more time on it, it would have been nice.
19. I have heard that SVO, thing before as well. But, have you ever seen an LX, that was made with an SVO lower front valence? I have not. Even the AAM resin hatchback, which is based on the SVO body did not use the SVO lower front valence. I don't think that it has the correct shape, but, maybe...? There was one that used a Crown Vic lower bumper/valence. It was not terrible, but the builder was in too big of a hurry, and never took the time and finished it like it should have been. He made resin copies, and tried to sell them on Ebay. (Anyone have one? I'd kind of like a copy of that one.) I don't really have a secret easy way to make one. But I can give you some tip's on how to do it.
20. The rear spoiler is scratch built. The model is based on a 93 Cobra. It is actually 1 of 4, that I have converted. The front bumper began life as a GT front cover. I carefully removed most of the center portion between the headlights, using sanding sticks, and a half round file. You need to leave a small portion! I then added styrene stock, to the back side of the opening until I had the correct shape. You can kind of see what I mean here: ( I think that this pic is actually the second one, I made. From a Cobra bumper. But you get the point.) Now, as far as making the bar. There are several ways to do this. You can try to save the one from the GT front bumper. You can try to make one, and add a photoetched Ford emblem. Or you can do like I did. Use the center portion of the grille from a Revell 97 Ford F150. Stripped of chrome, cut and sanded. It works perfect, and it's beefy enough to withstand handling. That's the easy part. Then you have to fix the trim, and make the new lower section.
21.
QUOTE(99GT @ Dec 10 2009, 12:31 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I say we go ahead and start the project.
I agree. It is time to begin. However... There have been several new people that have stated their interest in participating, in this project. I believe that this is good for the build, and the message board, as well. Which is what it was intended for. So I am going to add them to the list of builders. These are the new participants: Dave Mikrut Ictpacman Lordmodelbuilder. Now then... Officially sign up was over awhile ago. However, I have stated that I would allow 12 builders. So I am going to allow these members a chance to participate. I do have to draw a line somewhere, though. So, these will be the last names that will be added to this project's list of builder's. I don't want this project to last, as long as the original, has. And as such I don't think we need more then 12 builder's, as it will draw things out far too long. HOWEVER... If someone is interested in participating, then I do not wish to turn them away, as I do not wish to exclude anyone. Also, I have been warned, and seen first hand that people that have stated an interest will withdraw for whatever reasons. So... Therefore anyone that wishes to join, after today will ONLY be allowed to join, as an alternate. This means that if someone withdraws, then they will be given the chance to fill the spot of that person. These spots will be filled on a first come, first filled basis. So there will be a chance for new members to participate. ( IF enough people state an interest in being an alternate, then we could discuss the possibility of an "alternate's" project ... ) I believe that this is the only way to be fair. So here is the new builder's order: So here is the list I now have: (Revision 1) 1. Abell82 2. Envious8420 3. Cruzn 4. Len Geisler 5. 99Gt 6. TxRat 7. Pony Express 8. Dave Mikrut 9. Ictpacman 10. Lordmodelbuilder. 11. Roadhawg 12. *Matt LeBlanc* Alternates: 1.Jason Vandergriff 2.Showrodfreak Comments?
22. If the taillights you have are from one of the GT convertibles, then they will be too large to fit the Coupe. I made mine, by sanding them flat and adding styrene. I did this, because the LX taillights stick out further, then the GT's any way. So it makes it more accurate, if you are careful. Color the lenses, on the inside, then foiled them, and glued them in place. It will make them look better then these: The front bumper can be made. Here is one that I made: Another shot: I was working on a hatchback: I think, that Reliable resin makes most of the parts that you seek. Rear window, taillights, and front bumper. If you buy off ebay, I think probably, you'll pay more, but get them shipped quicker. Good Luck, and keep us posted.
23. You know your having a bad night... When you're trying to save a previously glue bombed chassis from an UBER COMMON kit, by cutting the well glued interior from said chassis. A replacement that would have cost only $15-20.00 to replace the WHOLE kit, and instead you slice right through your finger, causing 7 stitches, $350.00 in medical bills, and permanent nerve damage. Not to mention 2 hours in the emergency room, completely missing dinner with the wife's friends, and the blood stains on the carpet.... I think I win!
24. I would have bought one, but they put the jewels, on the mirrors, too. How am I supposed to see what's behind me?
25. Buy a resin hood from Drag City castings?
