Phantom 1937 Cord 812 coupe - a classic that never was

A proper gentleman's car. Superb execution. -
As an aside. If anyone wants to build the Mongoose car on the boxtop I have 2 sheets available. Just ask and I'll send em.
-
Still looks good. Thanks

Absolutely Stunning in every possible way brother. WOW!

Here is the Mongoose car. It is about 40% done. I put the Prudhomme Wendy's Trans Am motor in it to see how it looks. The motor for this car is only 30% done. But the body and chassis are ready to go. The box top shot is the reissue kit I used for these builds. The current release will get you 100% of the way since the decal sheet is now provided and aftermarket is no longer necessary. And yes, I enjoy scratch building K valves. Does anyone know if there is a resin one available?

You're quite right. That car is only about 80% done.

Looks great. How bout a motor shot?

This reissue Garlits kit was a total blast. The Prudhomme car is the reissue from a few years ago when it was released as a Mongoose rail. Aftermarket decals and I could build both classic kits. But the difference of just a handful of years, and Garlits making the rear engined car work made all the difference. Speeds increased and the worry about a flame out or supercharger in your face was now in the past, making them safer in that regard So I purposely juxtaposed the cars with Garlits having the front engined digger and the Snake with a rear engined car. Eventually I'll finish the Snake and Mongoose rear engined cars, but since they were both on my bench getting worked on I decided to look at em both. What a difference a few years make.

I believe this is the second issue of this classic kit. Nothing fancy, but I bought a decal sheet on eBay that had gauges and the wooden floor for the "passenger" area. I built this probably close to 20 years ago. I put the Fireball Models tire decals on a few years ago when I bought a bunch off him. Is he still doing it? And I need the Police decals that go on the rear lights. I put em on upside down like a dope, and tried to take em off but that ended in disaster. A Classic!

My late Father handed me this bag of wood, canvas and metal 15 years ago. I put it on the shelf and promptly forgot about it. It didn't have 4 wheels so it didn't get the love it deserved. So last week I brought it out and had a look. It is a true sailboat in every possible way. Once completed it can be put in the water with the sail as you fashion it and it will do it's thing. So here it is nearly complete. It's missing a few eye bolts which I'll have to source. I know nearly nothing about sailing, but I will finish it and display it. Perhaps one day it will see the water. Thanks Pops.

A great kit that needs a sharp eye and careful assembly. You are off to a great start getting rid of the roof rubbish. Woah! Didn't see the second page before I commented. Love the paint!

I went through a box in my closet and came up on this. Original issue kit that I have owned for over 25 years. It seems as though I got sick of it so very close to the finish line. I stuck it under some running water and Dawn dish soap for the photos. I'll wager it has been in this state for 20 years. The rest of the parts are all there. The door handle and hoses are in a little baggie. I think it's high time I finished it. And apparently all you need is gloss black, flat black and silver to build it. Have you ever built one?

Beautiful.

As base as they got. Well done.

My neighbor had one of these new. We called it big sled. 3D is taking over and I am enjoying it. Despite all the woes you described it looks great.
