And so, taking Ron's words to heart I will clear coat it. it seems to me I remember cars not really shining that much years ago. But memory is a subjective thing I think. So here are a few progress shots of todays and last night festivities. I decalled it when I got home from work and the rest is from last night. This is so much more fun that a detailed over the top build. I must do this more often and save the detail builds for gradual completetion this way I can enjoy this hobby of ours/mine more.

An update since yesterday. The chassis is drying after a reshoot to cover some minor holidays but the running gear is all dry and the motor will get atention today. Not certain which Air Grabber is correct, but they are both orange and I can mock em to make sure. Once the chassis is dry i'll lightly weather it to look somewhat used and get it assembled. Turning out fun, which is the idea. Should I clearcoat or just wax the Go Mango? I'm thinking wax since it's super smooth. I may end up decaling it and applying BMF today with a wax job in the near future. Any thoughts? EDIT: Thanks Bluesman Mark for the primer heads up. I went to my LHS and there they were. I bought a can of each of the ones you mentioned. I now have grey! Yeay!

Candies & Hughes cars were always detailed and spotles when they were at the track. You nailed the color perfectly as well as the overall feel of it being meticulously prepared as they were in real life. BRAVO! Bob Frias

To quote my favorite NY Pigeon. RIDONKULOUS!!!! I'd leave it just like that. Why ruin it with wheels and a motor?? I must go build now............. I don't see any murals in my future, but then again, I lack such mad skills. Bob Frias

You are correct sir! It is Go Mango. I checked the top of the can since the paper surround was lost when I heated the can in warm water. Your memory serves you well George. I have the chassis and motor primed and painted. When they can be moved I'll snap a couple of pix. Interesting thing about this kit is that the front coils and radiator shroud are not mentioned in the directions, yet there they are. Which is great of course. Not sure which Air Grabber or air cleaner goes with the Hemi though. I painted both Air Grabbers Tamiya orange. What a striking color. I painted the non plated air cleaner and I hope that is the one. I'd rather not dechrome. As it is I had to dechrome the valve covers and shock absorbers. oh well.... That's what makes it fun.... Bob Frias

I love a good A body. I have owned 2 of them. I actually blew up a Slant 6!!! Wonderful color choice and execution. Your diligence paid off handsomely. Now, back to my Super Bee. Bob Frias Dragline

So, I usually put my projects up until the days start to get longer and cooler. I've been doing that since I was a kid. You know, get out and play while you can and the weather is nice. Well that was many moons ago and I live in Baltimore where the weather is nicer than my new England upbringing. I have been busy browsing and offering a word here or there but this site makes me crazy. The bug and fire stay lit. I thank all of you for this and so I am eschewing my past habit to build during the warm days of summer. I will be dusting off the super detailed Garlits 1R build at some point but I thought I'd do a simpler less detailed build and I could think of nothing better than a 60's Mopar Muscle Car to get the juices flowing. OK, so it's a 1970 car. Sue me...... LOL Paint is the absolutley stunning Testors Gomango. As you can see this paint lays down quite nicely. There is a complete can of paint on this and it's so thin I was completely stunned it didn't build up. I just kept adding color and it kept getting richer. Holes and lower valance filled with Squadron of course. Tamiya fine white primer was layed down as a base. Do they make grey???? I filed off the bee on the hood so I could apply the decal. I think it'll look nicer Motor and undercarriage get paint today. I using the Hemi of course. Plug wires, battery and a few other details will be added. Lots of BMF as well. I'm kinda doing this as a modified restoration so I'll be painting the scoops semi gloss black and I sanded off the drip edge for a cleaner look. The interior leaves a lot to be desired but I'll pick out details in paint and call it a day. The undercarriage will get a slightly used look with wear and some rust perhaps. Like it's loved but not a trailer queen ya know? Bob Frias Dragline

I am jealously drooling here. Thanks for that......... It's so well done I am not sure where to begin.... I'll start where I'll end up, by saying. This is a master build.... I think I won't wait till the days get longer and start building again. See what ya did Rat!!!!!!!!! Ya made me start building before the fall. Happy now?????? SUPERB............ Bob Frias

So sweet I had to run a blood suger check! Nice detail and overall cleanliness as well. Bob Frias

Let me be the first to say MORE PICTTURES. Looks fantastic.. I have one of these but I cannot find the body.... Why is that? How did this come to pass. How was it allowed?? Who knows. Instead of dropping little parts onto the floor, I drop bodies. Problem is. THEY DISSAPEAR....... Well built and nicely painted. Bob F

any musicians here?
Dragline replied to Corvette.Jeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
How can it be anything else but Chuck Most?? Music is many things to many people.. Does it make you happy is the only question that needs to be asked. Everything else is nonsense. This is coming from a serious Metal guy, so take it to heart. Music is in the heart...........There it shall dwell always. Bob F PS: If this seems philosophical, good... Music comprises 90% of my waking day in one form or another. If you took stock of your own lives you may soon realize how important music is. For those of you that do recognize this, know something else. It is only but a fraction of what music truly is and can be in your life. Others have said it better, but with no more passion than I. -
Lindberg 66 chevelle SS. Any good?

All excellent points mates.. MrObsessive... My God man. Are those your mitts??? If so, I applaud all you do simply from a logistical standpoint. Then, I look at what's in your hand and I worry not at all brother. More to the point though.... I'm not certain how I'll tackle this except to say factory stock.... I have enough wild $hit on the workbench as it is. When the days begin to grow longer, so shall I begin my task of creating something in plastic. Till then, I remain a viewer only.... Thanks for all the patter friends... Truly. Bob F -

I would agree that guitar is easy to play.... But in a rudimentary way. Easy to bang out a few Stones tunes for sure... But, much like painting, easy to get into. A lifetime to realize you will never be its master. I play on a level that I'll not brag about here. Suffice it to say that, with the odd years I have played, I have gotten to the point where I became aware of what I don't know. What it is I do not know, is more than all of us combined can ever know. This is the MAJESTY of music, in any guise, any form. Think on that a while. Bob F -

That's what i was doing with the 1/2 stack and got some complaints [go figure]. I sometimes get the urge to just crank over some of the backing tracks I've collected over the years and the 1/2 stack is just too much. That's when I bought the Peavy VYPYR. 30 watts, 12" speaker with TONS of onboard digital modeling. I sounds pretty good for the 200.00 shipped I paid. i was kind of surprised, in a good way. I live in a row house in Baltimore City so it can be problematic. I don't seem to play much these days for some reason. I really need to be in a band for the creativity to come out. Sitting in the house jamming to Steve Vai records is fun, for a while.... Then it gets old and I long to stretch out. Can't do that in a row house all the time. But I still manage to crank [KranK?] the 1/2 stack now and again. Between that and getting onstage to jam a tune with my buddies band now and again seems to keep me fairly happy. Sometimes i think the glory days are behind me... I may be right. Bob F -
Got my MCM July issue!

That other mag has turned to garbage. I like it when it had "enthusiast" in its name. It "used" to be a great mag. What happened to it? Modelcars totally rocks every time! I guess I'll pony up for the subscription, wonder when I'll get mine, and in what shape? My guitar mags and "adult" monthly come in fine, though 2 of them are bagged. I'd pony up a buck or 2 more for the bag. I recycle all of my bags anywho. Bob F -

This very comment is why I post on and read this BB. Good tip. Anyone else got a tip about this kit? Bob F -
Lindberg 66 chevelle SS. Any good?

Got the kit today and just inspected it.. MAN, this is the nicest Muscle car kit I think I've ever seen! Details abound, every bloody piece is seperate. The rear window trim seems heavy handed but otherwise a great kit! Intake doesn't look too bad. I'm thinking of putting the 427 from my AMT 67 Impala in it. All around, Lindberg stock just went up in my eyes. Thanks guys. Bob F -

I've been playing guitar [mostly electric] for 26 years now. I made a living from it [moonlighting after all day at the garage], for almost 15 of those.. I am currently seeking a band but it has to be a good fit. I play mostly Heavy stuff. I play in the style of Malmsteen/VanHalen et all.... Mostly shred type Metal. Here are a couple of pieces of gear. New Krank head and marshall cab. My trusty 85 Gibson Explorer I bought new many moons ago. It makes a racket so I bought a little Peavy VYPYR practice amp a while back. Bob F -
WTF???????? $17,500 for a video game?
Dragline replied to B_rad88's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Frikken Ridonkulous!!!! The market is what it is..[i hate that saying, but it holds true here] There are things that pass all logic. I own a few. And while prehaps not that crazy, they are unique. Time tells all lads... How long are you willing to hold onto them/it?? Timing is EVERYTHING in this type of sale. Bob F -
Lindberg 66 chevelle SS. Any good?
Dragline replied to Dragline's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks guys, seems positive all around. I pulled the trigger and got one off the Bay... Should be here late in the week. The intake looks narrow you say? I'll remedy that. Thanks to everyone. I knew I'd get an honest perspective. Much love Bob F -
I'm not a big Lindberg guy. Got kinda burned in the 70's by them and never bought one again until I got the Color Me Gone car so I could replicate the Dodge Charger first ever Funny Car in scale. I was inspired by Hot Rod mag when they did an article on it a few months ago and the detailed pix got me going. But the 66 Chevelle SS......... Far and away my fave year Chevelle. Is this kit worth the price of admission? I see the Revell 66 out there as well. Pro/Cons? Inquiring minds.. Thanks in advance Bob F

What kit is this?
Dragline replied to Matt LeBlanc's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Looks kinda like a half baked Mad Max Interceptor ripoff to my eyes. But they aren't very sharp either [my eyes]. Bob F -
I need 2 sets of these at least. Very nice work. Bob F

Pretty sweet gig there el presidente..... Here are a few pix with my Dad and a couple of racers. Alexis, toldja she was HOT! I think my Dad has his hand on her ass.....LOL Jungle Pam, you can see the rain on her shoulder. This was later Sat. She was so gracious... What can I say? Cory Mac is the MAN! Some snapperhead took a pic as I was taking this one so his flash made it blow out. I shopped it a bit but it's pretty washed out. Ashley was also gracious, but the throng of fans was quite overwhelming indeed. Enjoy!

Those are very cool...... Any build that involves NITRO is a cool build. Try it again.... you clearly already have the hang of it. Bob F
