any musicians here?
Dragline replied to Corvette.Jeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I would agree that guitar is easy to play.... But in a rudimentary way. Easy to bang out a few Stones tunes for sure... But, much like painting, easy to get into. A lifetime to realize you will never be its master. I play on a level that I'll not brag about here. Suffice it to say that, with the odd years I have played, I have gotten to the point where I became aware of what I don't know. What it is I do not know, is more than all of us combined can ever know. This is the MAJESTY of music, in any guise, any form. Think on that a while. Bob F -

That's what i was doing with the 1/2 stack and got some complaints [go figure]. I sometimes get the urge to just crank over some of the backing tracks I've collected over the years and the 1/2 stack is just too much. That's when I bought the Peavy VYPYR. 30 watts, 12" speaker with TONS of onboard digital modeling. I sounds pretty good for the 200.00 shipped I paid. i was kind of surprised, in a good way. I live in a row house in Baltimore City so it can be problematic. I don't seem to play much these days for some reason. I really need to be in a band for the creativity to come out. Sitting in the house jamming to Steve Vai records is fun, for a while.... Then it gets old and I long to stretch out. Can't do that in a row house all the time. But I still manage to crank [KranK?] the 1/2 stack now and again. Between that and getting onstage to jam a tune with my buddies band now and again seems to keep me fairly happy. Sometimes i think the glory days are behind me... I may be right. Bob F -
Got my MCM July issue!
Dragline replied to RodBurNeR's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That other mag has turned to garbage. I like it when it had "enthusiast" in its name. It "used" to be a great mag. What happened to it? Modelcars totally rocks every time! I guess I'll pony up for the subscription, wonder when I'll get mine, and in what shape? My guitar mags and "adult" monthly come in fine, though 2 of them are bagged. I'd pony up a buck or 2 more for the bag. I recycle all of my bags anywho. Bob F -
Lindberg 66 chevelle SS. Any good?
Dragline replied to Dragline's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This very comment is why I post on and read this BB. Good tip. Anyone else got a tip about this kit? Bob F -
Lindberg 66 chevelle SS. Any good?
Dragline replied to Dragline's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Got the kit today and just inspected it.. MAN, this is the nicest Muscle car kit I think I've ever seen! Details abound, every bloody piece is seperate. The rear window trim seems heavy handed but otherwise a great kit! Intake doesn't look too bad. I'm thinking of putting the 427 from my AMT 67 Impala in it. All around, Lindberg stock just went up in my eyes. Thanks guys. Bob F -

I've been playing guitar [mostly electric] for 26 years now. I made a living from it [moonlighting after all day at the garage], for almost 15 of those.. I am currently seeking a band but it has to be a good fit. I play mostly Heavy stuff. I play in the style of Malmsteen/VanHalen et all.... Mostly shred type Metal. Here are a couple of pieces of gear. New Krank head and marshall cab. My trusty 85 Gibson Explorer I bought new many moons ago. It makes a racket so I bought a little Peavy VYPYR practice amp a while back. Bob F -
WTF???????? $17,500 for a video game?
Dragline replied to B_rad88's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Frikken Ridonkulous!!!! The market is what it is..[i hate that saying, but it holds true here] There are things that pass all logic. I own a few. And while prehaps not that crazy, they are unique. Time tells all lads... How long are you willing to hold onto them/it?? Timing is EVERYTHING in this type of sale. Bob F -
Lindberg 66 chevelle SS. Any good?
Dragline replied to Dragline's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks guys, seems positive all around. I pulled the trigger and got one off the Bay... Should be here late in the week. The intake looks narrow you say? I'll remedy that. Thanks to everyone. I knew I'd get an honest perspective. Much love Bob F -
I'm not a big Lindberg guy. Got kinda burned in the 70's by them and never bought one again until I got the Color Me Gone car so I could replicate the Dodge Charger first ever Funny Car in scale. I was inspired by Hot Rod mag when they did an article on it a few months ago and the detailed pix got me going. But the 66 Chevelle SS......... Far and away my fave year Chevelle. Is this kit worth the price of admission? I see the Revell 66 out there as well. Pro/Cons? Inquiring minds.. Thanks in advance Bob F

What kit is this?
Dragline replied to Matt LeBlanc's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Looks kinda like a half baked Mad Max Interceptor ripoff to my eyes. But they aren't very sharp either [my eyes]. Bob F -
I need 2 sets of these at least. Very nice work. Bob F

Pretty sweet gig there el presidente..... Here are a few pix with my Dad and a couple of racers. Alexis, toldja she was HOT! I think my Dad has his hand on her ass.....LOL Jungle Pam, you can see the rain on her shoulder. This was later Sat. She was so gracious... What can I say? Cory Mac is the MAN! Some snapperhead took a pic as I was taking this one so his flash made it blow out. I shopped it a bit but it's pretty washed out. Ashley was also gracious, but the throng of fans was quite overwhelming indeed. Enjoy!

Those are very cool...... Any build that involves NITRO is a cool build. Try it again.... you clearly already have the hang of it. Bob F

New funny cars from Revell?
Dragline replied to Fuel Coupe's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Pardon me gents, but Revell has had the longest tradition of drag racing kit making among the model makers. Theirs is a long history so this is not a shock at all. it's been a longer time coming than I would have liked but these are certainly welcomed. Drag racing kits have always been brisk sellers since the old days so i fail to see why there would be questions as to why these are being produced. New toolings are welcome of new subjects from the current crop as well as nostalgic cars. Drag racing has a great history which remains quite strong even today. Bring on the new kits! Bob F -
Yeah, the Pro Mod guys didn't get to qualify due to the downpour. It seemed like the rain that had been falling for the last month had affected the track in some way on Sat. The Pro Stock guys qualified with fast times and top speeds but the nitro cars had to much for the track. Sunday was a different story though. Aside from the initial spritzing we got, it was good. The track temp stayed down and as the day went on everyone seemed to get faster. The Pro Mods got run late but they were super quick and that blue camaro was really ripping [forget who drives it]. That TA/FC of Alexis DeJornia going off the end of the track was the only real wrinkle in the whole day. My heart was in my throat when she hit the chutes and the just flew off the car! She hit the "beach" pretty quick and if you got to see the car it was bent straight up all the way to the blower! I'm super glad she was OK. I got a pic with her and my dad, GOD is she HOT! Got a snoot full of nitro when Doug Kallita fired up so that was good [NOT!]. The nitro guys should have a siren or red light when they fire up. not everyone is aware that they are ready to go. learned something new as well. Some nitro motors take 5 gallons of oil, others take 4 gallons. interesting..... I have pix and will post a few in a bit. Glad you were there and had a good time. Bob F

Much better than the box. Now we can see the potential of it. I think I have the Soff-Seal around here somewhere....................... Well done indeed my brother plastic fanatic... Bob Frias

Thanks TXRat... I was being sorta lazy there. I actually have that site and many others bookmarked. I guess it's time for some research, which is always fun since this is my fave sport. Englishtown was great, posting pix of that on the thread i started on it soon. Time to go a searchin.. Bob Frias

I just bought an NOS kit of this car and I'm wondering something. Who ran this type of car WITH the shotgun motor? And if so, are there decals for it that exist? I know someone knows the answer..... I'll be grateful as it is probably going to be my Lions dragway build-off entry. Bob F

Don Garlits Revell 1/16 dragster decals
Dragline replied to hansb57's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I guarnatee that's the same guy who sold me my first set of Snake N Mongoose decals. That guy is an idiot. he doesn't say that the white portions are not printed in his descriptions. Decals from the actual kit come up now and then. good luck... Bob -
I'll be driving up from Balmer in the AM. Should arrive at 10:00 EST. Perhaps we have a few others going? I heard some mention a while back in one of the threads around here. LOTSA pix!! I'll be the guy with the long hair and the hawaiian print shirt [that'll make about 1,000 of us! LOL] I'll have the NE accent, that'll be a dead giveaway! Bob

There is almost no chrome on the real car, why have a chrome sprue at all? And those molded on belts!! With subject matter of this size even Revell in the 70's put rubber belts on their TF/Funny car kits. It's easier to mold round pullys and supply belt material. Most of it does look quite nice but I question the logic of the belt and the chrome sprue. I have felt for a long time that co's should offer 2 versions of akitwith chrome sprues and without them. It saves them money anyway. And it saves many of us the hassle of de-chroming and having to deal with the barrier left behind in order to either re-chrome or paint the item in its correct color. Not only that, I despise parting lines so it all gets sanded anyway. With a kit of this order of magnitude, I should not have to buy an aftermarket kit to make a truly accurate and pleasing model. The aftermarket can certainly up the ante, but the belts and perhaps some other niggles will make it [for me] a head scratcher at this price level. I'll still pony up for it of course. Bob

What's on your playlist?
Dragline replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm currently listening to Lamb of God's new album Wrath. My playlist includes BLS, Thy Will Be Done, As I Lay Dying, and if I feel nostaligic [which is often] I'll slap on some Thin Lizzy, Zep or maybe some Beatles. I listen to lots of aggresive metal though. Bob -
Well guys, with the onset of Summer upon us I pack up all my modeling gear till the Fall. I had hoped to get more done on this project and at least post a few more progress pix but there has been little in the way of that. Other than things that have yet to be attached there is little to see. I'll still be prowling these pages of course but building has always gotten sidelined during the warm days of the year in my case. I'm still buying PE items and kits all summer so I will stay up to speed, but the building is now shut down till the days begin to grow shorter. The truth of it is I'm going to be working on my 1:1 project which is putting a supercharged Ecotec into my 2000 cavalier SS. If it goes well and I'm able to pony up the needed cash I will have quite the sleeper on my hands. As it is I will be outdoors most of the summer and working out in my new gym. I even uninstalled Battlefield II!!!! I'll be watching and commenting as time allows. I'll be @ Englishtown June 13, 14 with my Dad, and will be hitting the many East Coast tracks as well this summer. Richmond is close by and that will be fun later in the year. Enjoy the Summer and get out!!!!! Bob Frias AKA: Dragline
