  1. Great car, but the wheels and tires???? Good start on the body though. Make it a big block. Bob F
  2. Glad to see one of your builds up here Gregg!!!!!!!!!! Color combo is nice. The wheels ain't my thing but they do look good. Finish it! Bob F
  3. Better than my first try by quite a bit Emily... By the time you've done your 20th you'll be better than some here hehehehehehehehehee. Very nice Bob F
  4. One of the nicest yet. Purty...... and cleanly detailed. Bob F
  5. Holey Moley! That is cool............. How big is the decal sheet? Looks like it comes in 2 sheets. Cannot wait to see it finished. Bob F
  6. Sorry for not getting to say Bye today Dave. I was wrapped up in conversation with Ron Hamilton. It was really great to meet ya. Putting faces to names is always nice. I'll be at the MAMA meetings regular. You think Norman liked it THAT much? I wasn't hanging around it so I didn't see. I know he asked me to take it out of the box so he could shoot pics of it. Flattering indeed. I forgot the bring my Garlits build [which is a good thing, since it's the only other thing I have going]. I have something for next meeting. Great to meet ya bro Bob F
  7. Thanks Ron. It was great being there and putting faces to names. I was made to feel quite at home and now I am offcially a MAMA. I consider your compliments to be high praise indeed sir. Once again..... Thanks I think it would be PIMPIN. STRAIGHT UP PIMPIN! Not my kind of thing, but what do I know???? Do It! Bob F
  8. I wanted to thank you as well Bill. Seems like some of these techniques have passed me by. A refresher and in depth lesson from a Master is exactly what the Dr. ordered for me. Thanks Bill!!!! Bob Frias AKA: Dragline
  9. A beautiful ressurection if I have ever seen one. The detail and paint are perfect. And Kudos to Tamiya for sending replacement decals. There is customer service still out there, although to be fair Revell/Monogram are doing the same thing. Well done. Bob F
  10. Measures out at 4-1/4 from where it goes vertical in the front to where it goes vertical in the rear. Gonna use REAL tracks?? Bob F
  11. Thanks for the Kudos guys. The kit literally falls together. You spend all your time getting things painted as assembly is soooo easy. I'll post pix of the completed build in a day or 2 once the final washes are done. I have ZERO experience with Armor and these techniques are easy to employ. Thanks Tom Daniel!!! Bob F
  12. US forces have been chasing Rommel and his vaunted Africa Corps across the desert. Here we see Der General in a moment of relaxation before his end run back to HQ. I went to some Armor bulletin boards to get some ideas for wear techniques and colors. Testors Light Desert Tan and various Tamiya paints adorn Der Genrals car. I used heat to make the dents and .50 Cal damage. I used a soft pencil to make the steel wear. Skeletons are Testors 33531 Sand. It's so close to actual bone color. I have the other track to weather and then they both get a dark wash. The flags and the windows are all that are left. I'm using an old technique to show the windshield wiper marks. This was a FUN build of a true classic. Bob F
  13. HOLY SCHNICKY'S!!!!! Fantastic chassis, body work et all........... Ambitious and accurate. Two things that seperate you from standard kit builders [i being one of the latter]. I'll be paying attention. Bob F
  14. With 18+ years in the garage I have seen this many times. the impellers actually slowly corrode over time and eventually there is nothing there to move the coolant. It can be a mystery if the WP isn't leaking and all other items seem in good nick. I would't worry overmuch about metal in the passages but a flush is in order clearly. Usually I just took off the WP and this is what I'd see [referring to your pix]. Easy fix usually and it should run cooler but be careful. I'm not certain what temp the thermostat needs to be, but I'd refer to the factory spec as a starting point. When you use factory setting you must use factory plug heat range as well for maximum HP and milage. Glad you got it sussed. I didn't read the other posts so I'm certain you got good advice already. Bob F
  15. ok, I was thinking of doing this one as well. Tell me, what is the body? Resin from Slixx website? I know about the decals. I see a Revell chassis and motor underneath. Looks good for a slam build. Bob F
  16. AH HAH! Thanks Chuck, I can hardly wait. As for all the other replies. GOOD LOOKING OUT... And thank you all. This is why this place ROCKS! Bob F
  17. Let me be the umpteenth to say. SWEET. The color and stance are correct. I had a friend that worked at the local Auto Zone. PR guy from NY. Had a Datsun [early 80's something or other]. One day he opened the hood and there was this custom mounted, with a big Holley, ROTARY sitting in it. Took me for a ride [i had a Turbo Dodge Omni then]. GOD, did that thing move! What a racket though... In a good way. Very well done sir Bob F
  18. Muchas Gracias george. I have a couple of leads now. Bob F
  19. Ni pics that I know of but mine was a gold 74 Plymouth Duster with a slant six. I blew up that slant 6 2 years later. I know, HOW did you do that???!!!! I have no idea. Bob F
  20. Got me one. I've been visiting model Armor websites and getting weathring and wear techniques so I can make mine look nice and battle scarred. Nice build there. Bob F
  21. I saw a kit on eBay a while back. Shoulda grabbed it then. I did an exhaustive web search and I cannot find that kit anywhere!! It was the front bumper/grill to backdate the Twister vega. I see the whole bodies out there [modelroundup] but I have the Twister coming. It was light green resin if I recall correctly. There were other parts with it as well. Real complete looking. Decals are not a problem but this backdating thing has got me in a pickle. ANYONE????? TIA Bob F
  22. Let me be the first to say GORGEOUS..... Bob F
  23. From what can only be described as a "bear of a kit" to that is impressive indeed. Color, fit, finish are all superb. And there you were worrying......................... Another strong build my friend. Bob F
  24. I see the differences. I am going to do the 1974 car. I have the Comp Resins hood scoop coming. I have a Twister Vega coming. I have the decals, although I'm going to paint the brick red portions. I have what I need. I do have a few pix of the motor with the black valve covers which is the "74" car. Just some interior shots, perhaps some other motor shots. Any help is Muy appreciated Bob F
