I agree, with these chassis the sky's the limit. The Jungle stuff seems a no-brainer as well as the USA-1 car. If not, at least we have resin. But I myself would rather it came all in one package. The future looks bright for nostalgic Drag Racing subjects. Bob F

I have not seen pix of the chassis, but I understand that there are two chassis versions coming out. One will be with the driver in the center as is/was traditional. The other chassis is based on the Chi Town Hustler, which is to say that the drivers is offset to the side a bit so he can see down the side of the hat and blower. This was adopted by quite a few teams of that time period. I'm not certain of the actual chassis maker but I saw a couple of them at the Funny Car Reunion race i went to a few years ago. I thought it odd as I'd never seen it before and talked to the owner where it was explained to me. Revell will do an excellent job you can bet on that. I'm getting a little antsy myself. Bob F

Very nice Peter. I got to drive a skate buddies 1:1 70ish MGB last year. That car scared me in that it was so close to the ground and tiny. It was very quick as well. Your 1:1 is VERY nice.... The model is poyfect as well. No MGB's for me though... I escared of em. Yet I owned a 500Hp Vega????? I'm not right in the head I think. Bob F

You are correct, dimensionally it's pretty bad. But your paint makes up for it in so many ways. Well done indeed. Bob F

Can those colors in that combo look BAD on anything? I ask you? Very nice me laddy Bob F

Garsh that's beautiful. Tamiya right? The engine is superb... Your builds are always exciting to look at. Bob F

This is a post that totally speaks to MY HEART.. As a result, I will speak about it ad nauseum............ Attachment: There are CLEARLY places to NOT attach parts, and there are places TO CLEARLY attach them. That said, if we had the MODELING community involved we could make the needed placement points clear to the manufacturers and this would be a moot point. If not asked, well, we have what we've always had. Poor placement points and OBVIOUS mistakes. It only takes a minute to see that MANY of the placement points over the last [50?] years have been, by and large, INCORRECT.. Seams: While chrome sprues largely take a hit here I thought it would bear mention that MOST seams are inconvenient. But, I have no problem working either sandpaper or sanding stick to achieve results I am pleased with. Problem is, I am usually NEVER happy with the results I achieve. As much as I like to think, I am not the greatest sander/seam sander. My results are OK mostly. Chrome: STOP chroming items that DO NOT need to be chromed..... 95% or more of most kits need to be white plastic, period. Case in point? The new Trumpeter GT40..... The Rest?: I despise seams. On assembled models it is unacceptable to me. It is one of the BASIC skills that a modeller should adopt immediately. If you HAVE to build a model, a few basic things can be observed and all mankind can be happy with your result. Paint items in colors they are normally. Pick up a book, or stick your head under a hood for once. I do minimal research to achive modest results. You are encouraged to do at least that. The Internet............ blah, blah, blah........................ It takes nearly NO EFFORT to be accurate on most subjects. Others can be elusive I admit. Model what you know: Do you know F1? Model them for Pete's sake! You a Dragnut? Pick up a Pro Stock kit.. There is usually something current to choose from when it comes to NHRA. Like Stock? Too many to choose from. Pick a kit and run with it..... OK. I went on [like promised].. Build a car.. Build it today. Learn from every build. Bob F

I'm buying several of each I'm certain. Let's hope Slixx is planning variations. I heard there was an offset chassis in one of these kits. The driver being off to the side a bit so he can see past the supercharger. One chassis wil be more traditional. That's a first if it's true. And accurate as well. Looking forward to this very much indeed. Bob F

Believe me when I say that THOUSANDS are looking forward to these releases. Revell Drag kits have always been the best kits. I heard the tooling was done and that a strategic release date was all that remained. Bob F

I'm watching this one Ron. I got to see this close up and it's gonna be a beaut. Paint color will be critical. I'm certain you'll stay period with it. Stay at that bench Ron!! Bob

That looks great. Your builds are always getting better. Quite a stable of horses you have there. All vintage too. NICE........ Bob F

Sorry Ben but I don't have pictures of the Snake. I live in Baltimore and my Dad is in Massachusetts so unless I go up there it may be a while before I can snap a pic of it. It came out sorta the same, although I detailed it a bit more with fuel, chute and other lines. Bob F

I learned to appreciate the Rotary when a Puerto Rican fella I hired began working at the Auto Zone I ran. He took me for a ride in his hopped up 81 Accord with a Rotary in it and I was impressed. All the same, unless they are sub 10.5 cars, they wouldn't touch the Vega. That, and let's face it, the buzzing is not attractive. This is about the SBC purrrrrr after all. Not that import ######. Sorry for the photography. I need a place to paint and photograph it seems. Had this in Drag Racing models as a WIP, but now it's done. My foiling continues to improve. No pics of the body down since it doesn't want to go all the way down. Not sure why, but it looks better like this anyway. Enjoy

In the mid 80's I owned my ONLY Hot Rod which was a 71 vega with a 383 stroker in it. Tubbed and all that... Every weekend I'd start it up to go cruise and my neihboors would just groan. I waited till it was all warmed up and maybe chuck a rev or two. I'd never lay a holeshot where I lived though. But at the corner where I'd turn to hit the highway, I'd always always bang at least two gears. The car got too notorious and I had to get rid of it, but for 3 years I was almost king of the street wherever I went. The car was on eBay a few months ago. Now it has a blower. It was too hairy with the Jetted down Dominator on it. I cannot imagine what it's like now. It had a pretty rad cam in it and a hopped up T-10 4 speed. I don't think I could have run an auto the way it was. But at about 4,500 RPM it purred like a kitten and if I blipped the throttle those MT Sportsmans would go up in a blaze of glory. God I miss that car. I'll find a pic at my Mums and post it sometime. The SBC and you. Making HP for over 60 years. Bob F -
I agree with TxRat, your cleanliness improves every time you post something. This is on par with a great many here. Great subject, great execution. You are much improved. Bob F PS: I would recommend the Novis sytem for cleaning up kit glass. It also works great on clear coats as well.

Ah Hah!! Our first TJ-T...... Very nice indeed. Looks like the vintage kit to my eyes, but they were never very good eyes. Bob F
-
Well, you collect and build them... Thanks TxRat.... You are one whose opion matters a great deal to me. I treasure all opinion, but like me, you're a drag guy at your core. Get help Ben..... LOLOLOL Bob F Little update pic here: Got the front grill done. rear is also done.

You are a sick man Ben, and need help! My God, that's a lot of models! Should you live to be 150 you could not build them all. I have a Mongoose rear engine kit like you have there but the Snake eludes me. I bid on them and get sniped all the time. Your truck collection is to be admired. I have never seen so many truck models all in one place. Impressive. Bob F
-
That is looking very sweet indeed Curt but it need to be wheels up buddy.... Build a little stand for it.. Wait, doesn't it come with one? Bob F
-
THAT is purty!! This kit is one I overlooked for some reason. I have to rectify that. Well chosen colors and aftermarket goodies. Bob F
-
Thanks Ben. Those slicks are from any Revell Top Fuel or Funny Car kit from the late 80's till today. Ample sanding with 80 grit makes em look like that. I will be able to polish this out during the weekend. I'm a big Snake/Mongoose fan so these were a no brainer. I think they may be the most popular cars in the history of drag racing. I built these dragsters last year with so so aftermarket decals. They are in my Dad's collection now. Bob F
-
I believe the only way to get them is buying the double kit. I think there was someone making the "Coca Cola" decals that were missing though. The kits are not expensive on eBay. I know you have the Cop Out though. Bob F

This is a wonderfully detailed and executed build Shane..... I understand your feelings about it not being what YOU want though. The builder/artist is usually never happy with their creation. They have a vision of what they want. They execute, and a true artist almost always falls short of what they envision. For the rest of us Phillistines, it's usually far and away from what we can do. Never more true than here brother. Quality from top to bottom. Bob F -
This is truly beautiful... I'm totally stealing the color and wheel ideas for the one I just bought. Your work is so clean and realistic. BMF work is top notch. Root Beer brown with envy... LOL Bob F
