  1. Don't know how this one got past me! Very nice build. These PL kits are a challenge. You passed with FLYING colors. Bob
  2. All beauties Ron. It's great seeing you at the MAMA meetings and talking to you. You are a good guy and a friend modeler. 2009 was a good year for you modeling wise from what I can see buddy. Keep it up. Bob
  3. I dry fit the motor this evening and finished off the injection. Looks cool. I'm starting to dig this kit. Added a few odds n ends. Should have made a safety belt instead of using the kit supplied but no biggie. Thanks for looking. Bob
  4. Khart, you are right on the money! It's Dupli-Color touch up. You know, the smaller cans. The color name escapes me at the moment, but it's a foreign car color. The local Auto Parts store had a sale and I picked up a bunch for 3.00 ea. I too am waiting for the Revell Hawaiian, I'm pretty sure it's going to be a LOT better than the PL kit. Not that these are slouches by any means. I think if they had put more time into the instructions and fit of some of the parts they'd be considered true classics. As they stand they are good sources of Logghe chassis as well as complete kits but I'll wager more than a few never made it to completion by some uninitiated modelers. Some of the parts are a little crude considering these are "modern" kits. Bob
  5. Thanks Dave. The decals were beautiful to work with. The complex side scallops went down nice with a little Solvaset. They snuggled down nicely. This is my first experience with Slixx and it was a pleasure. The injector hat in the kit is OK for the period but the box top [and other sources] show the one I put on there. Plus I had one hanging around so that didn't hurt. I made progress last night so I'll post some pix later today. Bob
  6. I'm at a loss for words. If he doesn't like it I can find room here somewhere. Bob
  7. Roger, this kit will feel no different going together than the Baker Charger I'm certain of it. These kits are not for the faint of heart. They require lots of test fitting and sizing things up before you attempt assembly. The good news is the plastic is very nice and takes paint well. I hand painted the chassis with Tamiya red out of the jar and it took well. The chrome strips easily as well. But the instructions are vague at best so making sure things fit first is paramount. You have the skills, get crackin! Bob
  8. While I'm waiting for my replacement dash for the Frank Iaconio car I figured I'd tackle a quick project. Never built ANY Polar Lights kit and I must say there are some issues with these. But test fitting has paid off handsomely I must admit. Replaced the kit bug catcher with a correct one. Got one of my patented masking tape supercharger belts on there as well. I guess the supplied one could work, but I didn't bother. I'll wire and hook up the fuel soon. Nothing toooo detailed. These are really nice kits once you get past the terrible instructions and occasional poor fitting part. Bob
  9. This is an entry for what? Bob
  10. That looks KILLER Charlie! It's the little things that make these old cars come to life and you nailed em all. Well done. Bob
  11. I built Dave Deal's Bug Bomb with my Dad circa 1973. Wish I still had the model. Still got the Dad though. Bob
  12. With 40Gb of music on my machine I usually make playlists. Lately it's been Overkill. But the Newest Lamb Of God was in my car for 2 months solid. Sometimes I get on a Zep or Beatles kick though. Bob
  13. CRICKEY, all of that stuff is beautiful J. Well done for 09. I hope to do as well for 2010. Bob F
  14. Classic case of creating a market where none existed, or needed to exist. People with money an no brains buy this stuff. I cannot wait till their will is read. Lawyer: "Bobby, you get the crystal covered model car" Bobby: "Groan" Bob F
  15. The raised area in the middle of the valve cover is the wire guide/cover. You open up one end and slide em in through there. What's nice is you only have to slide em in and you're done. It wires the same as any Chrysler Hemi out there. Hope this helps. Bob
  16. Thank You, I will indeed try it if I can find it. I'll look for it. Bob
  17. I believe the kit is a 1995 reissue. Bob
  18. I meant total JUNK! It even says on the sheet 'Not compatible with setting solvents" HUH??? With the compound curves on some of them it's mandatory. They are positively junkola. What truly slays me is they have been in this business for a while [sic]. Even Polar Lights new better and had Slixx make theirs. And what a dream those are to work with. I was attempting to decal the Don Schumacher Super Shoe Vega and I just ended up taking them off. The billboard has to go around the deep fender flares and it simply can't be done without solution. I used some sparingly in the hopes I could get it to sit. yeah right..... The carrier film is far from adequete. Now I see why Slixx has them for sale. They know the Revell kit decals are useless. I decaled the Polar Lights Gene Snow Rambuctious and got those decals to sit into the fender reccess' with not one single ripple or crease. Of course, those were made by Slixx............. I wish someone would have written a brief thread on this, or perhaps a sticky about them. I'm a patient man usually [i build models fer Pete's sake], but these tested my patience to the limits. I should have known something was fishy when the kit box didn't even have a picture of the body on the chassis. Just chassis shots only. Even the box art guy couldn't make em work. I sure hope the new NHRA nostalgia kits have better decals in them than this. Disgusted. Bob F
  19. Completely outta hand, In a good way. NICE Bob F
  20. Always a great build from you Shane. I just started the Revell Super Shoe. Good time for yellow AA/FC's it seems.... I'm watching the Hollis Bro's coupe. That is looking very nice indeed. Keep it up buddy. Bob F
  21. So sorry I had to miss this months meeting Lyle. Looks like a great turnout too. I'll see you next month with some new cars in tow. Bob F
  22. My Mums lives about 10 adresses up the street. It's her row house so there's a basement. I painted the one that is still blushing, outside in the sun. It's not humid here, at least not that I can tell. This Duplicolor flashes very quickly. I'll let it dry overnight and spray it indoors in the basement. The furnace it in the room I spray in [when indoor spraying] and it's always dry there. This is a first for me. it's also the first time I've tried these can of touch up. The price is better than tamiya and there are many lovely colors available. I sprayed a REALLY wet coat and came home about 1-1/2 ago. It seemed like it was doing it less every time I put paint on it. It's a Funny Car so panel lines are not an issue, but I don't want it to start waving either. This paint really sits down nice and you cannot make it run. I even tried to make it run and it literally just built up on my test scrap. I'm going to go look at it shortly. I may take a few pics and post em. Thanks guys Bob
  23. I used Duplicolor flat white primer, then one of those small cans of Duplicolor touch up. I got blush soon after on one body. I quickly re-sprayed and it's gone. I keep spraying the other and it's still blushing. Coats are [primer to color] about 20 min. Colors coats are wet in wet [as much as you can with this stuff, it dries soooo fast]. I'm thinking that i'll let the one that is still blushing to dry thoroughly before a final coat to avoid this, but the other one came back just fine. Thoughts? Bob F PS: If it's still blushed and I let it cure, if I clear it will it come back?
  24. I have the SAE where either Terry Jesse or Tim Boyd do a build-up/review of this kit. I should dig that one out. I have the kit around here as well. I think I bought it new all those years ago. Yours looks swell. Bob F
  25. That looks better than my first model, which was a Revell Bug Bomb. Keep on plugging away and you will be rewarded with better and better results. But to be honest, this is already pretty darn good. I'm impressed. Bob F
