  1. The mid 80's Testarossa gets a bad break from the Ferrari cognescenti. But the white one in Miami Vice is a very beautiful car in my eyes. I like it better white than red. If i recall correctly it was a drug bust car that was originally black and then painted white for Crockett and Tubbs. A black Testarossa doesn't work for me somehow. But that's me. Bob
  2. My only rub with Ferrari was a tune up on a Mondial in the late 80's. After conferring with Viti Brothers Mercedes ace mechanic Gessepe it was decided i could do the work and parts were ordered. I took 3 days to do it and test drove it around town a bit before opening it up on Rte 6 N to Cape Cod. While the Mondial is possibly the lowest Ferrari ever made I had a ball doing the job [ Prestige for my garage] and the ensuing test drive was beyond words that still bring my fur up a little. I also learned what the heart of Ferrari truly is. It is a visceral throaty roar and a gearbox that only a man can appreciate. Yes, it was red. Bob
  3. Two absolute stunners right there. The color and wheel choice almost make them look like different cars. Bob
  4. I just spent 52.00 for an Aoshima Mad Max kit on eBay. But I spent over 450.00 for an unbuilt Aurora VooDoo Vega several years ago. If I want it I usually get it if I must have it. Still looking for a set of 1/32 Monogram gassers. Bob
  5. I use it for gaming and it's like cheating to me. I love SSD. Bob
  6. I cancelled cable TV 2 days ago. After getting a bill for 141.00 and not even understanding the charges I called and cancelled all TV service. I went to Radio Shack and pick up a HDTV antennae and I get 14 channels with it. Comcast gets me for 51.00 for Internet and that's it. Speed channel went down the tubes long ago, then, it was cut from the Digital Preffered package i was getting. I got 200 channels of BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH AND I was paying for it. Shame on me. I do like Gearz and Hot Rod TV and a few others like Pass Time though. The rest of that "reality" BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH held zero interest to me after one viewing and watching full grown men act like.......... I can't say here but you know darn well what they were acting like. Bob
  7. One of my favorite cars of all time. Rendered perfectly by you Sir. UNREAL.. Bob
  8. http://www.revell.com/germany/cars/80-7077.html#.Uf482ZKTjSg Says 202 pcs. Is it an older Italeri, Aurora or Fujimi tool? Is it in error since the info there is far from complete? Bob
  9. The red is Tamiya TS-36 Flourescent Red over white primer. It is tricky since it get darker as layers are applied. So rule of thumb is 2 even coats and it's a dead on match.. That is cheaper for the blue Mike. I'll pass it along and try it myself. Hope I helped with the red. Bob
  10. Tamiya TS-23 over white primer. Bob
  11. That almost looks like a water swirl technique. The paint sits on the surface in many strands as you lift the body up through it. YouTube it to see what I'm talking about. It's big in guitar circles although I guess any item can be swirled. I'm just not certain all those colors could be done in one pass. Try dunk swirl or water swirl, and it may come up. Bob
  12. Darlington Hobbies in Pawtucket is a great place. They do have a slot car drag race during weeknights and it can get crowded but he has a full range of kits and is a super guy. Bob
  13. Hoo Doggy those are NICE..... Sign me up Bob
  14. Man O Man Chris, just looking at that seat makes me feel safer already. Benchmark build bro. Bob
  15. Most impressive. While they might not have every detail like engines [guessing here], what's there is impressive. Consider there are no molds in 1:5 scale and it boggles the mind. All the exterior details look spot on to me. Value must be many millions I wager as these are one offs by the folks who made them reality. Nice article. ob
  16. I scour eBay for vintage skateboards. And while the good stuff sells at market or above there are pieces that I find for reasonable and sometimes downright giveaway prices. The key is stay vigilant. Bob
  17. Truly out of the box. Welcome back to the hobby and build another. Hopefully this one gave you the pleasure of accomplishment you remember. Perhaps some paint is in order as well? This is clean so paint is only going to make them look that much better. Congrats Bob
  18. Is that Star Drive-in off 140? I used to bring my Vega there in the 80's Bob
  19. Bob
  20. I got this same type of compliment some time ago Mr Bill. I display a car at my place on the counter at NAPA and change it every so often. My 09 Challenger in Tamiya bright green brought the same comment from a model builder no less. When I pulled the box from under the counter to show it was a kit, he kind of smirked and said "Great paint". I consider that a compliment for sure. FM and Danbury make some excellent replicas and their paint is generally flawless. That's a compliment in my eyes. Bob
  21. When I open a fresh build it becomes "Pro" in some aspects. I expect a "Pro" build whenever I embark on a new project. As for how that works out, well.... I'll let others decide. For eBay builds? That requires a few things.... 1: Taste 2: Execution 3: Subject Matter No particular order mind you, but those 3 must be followed if you wish to sell a project at a profit. My .02 Bob
  22. Grampa gets it done...... MORE!!!! B
