    1980, I believe..and that's probably a JDM-specific grille...US market ones seemed to have a grille with 'TOYOTA' block lettering.

    Blech..that would be a nasty 4cyl fwd convertible..recipe for failure. A horrible idea, as bad as the FWD Mustang idea was back in the 80s (that became the Probe).

    LoL...one thing I've wondered is why some companies require it and others don't...must not be a state or federal law...large public Fortune 50 companies I've worked for required it, but small private companies haven't...

    I like Christmas because I take the week off between Christmas and New Years off every year and a day or two before Xmas..so it's a nice quiet vacation period....visit with family, eat well, maybe go to the beach, go the mountains...some downtime at the end of the year to rest.

    And the best part of US holidays is most are arranged conveniently for taking 3-4 day weekends...I plan mini-vacations around those. Then there are the strange years where July 4th falls on a Wednesday...

    Looks like two sets of rollcage parts on the trees..probably the old and the new. I have the '80s Hawaiian Tropic version and the Model King version from a few years ago, neat subject matter. Does the Pepsi livery represent a real car? I haven't seen mention of a specific driver.

    As far as building replicas, there are a couple fo resin '65 2dr sedans available now (MCW and R&R), maybe a caster eventually will make one optimized for the upcoming Moebius ht kit, or maybe Moebius will do a sedan eventually...

    On thing I did read that was different from previous releases is the window netting is now a separate part rather than molded in as in past releases.

    LoL...I got that kit when new, was dissapointed to find out it was the '83 w/ a new body and wheels.. seems like the kit was out longer than the TV show...

    Exactly...the politics and religious angle of the chain's owners is why I won't shop there, won't give them my money. There are plenty other sources for hobby supplies.

    Can't recall when, but it's been a while..looks like the Monogram kit...I remember it was out in the late 80s, shown in black on the box.

    The tooling must be incomplete then...no stock hood, no windshield frame on the body, no stock wheels..it's not the stock kit.

    Do they still have scouting? It's probably a tiny percentage of kids that do that...I know it was pretty uncommon when I was that age 35+ years ago..

    My cut was in the soft part of the thumb, the knife cut deep...IIRC, the kit was the Revell 'Skips Fiesta Drive In' 59 Skyliner. I also cut the webbing between my thumb and forefinger once w/ an X-acto knife..that really hurt. Years later, one of my dogs bit me there...

    That's pretty cool...one thing I've noticed w/ the models and Tomica police car diecasts going back 40 years or so of Japanese patrol cars is the peaked black section on the hood..wonder what that is about.

    I remember cutting my thumb w/ an x-acto knife when I was about 17...wouldn't stop bleeding...ran around screaming about cutting my aorta. Still have a scar on my thumb from it.

    I notice on that salvage site it lists as being sold...I wonder how much it sold for in wrecked condition? $50?
