Pretty cool..wouldn't have realized it started as a Predicta...about the only thing I might have done differently would have been to shorten the roof, since the side window openings are sooo long..
Never heard of one..pretty obscure subject. MPC did a kit long ago of a Skyhawk from '75-76 or so (similar to the Chevy Monza annual kit). That kit could probably be updated to a '79 w/ a bit of scratchbuilding.
Nice to hear they are still in business..I used to go there a few times a year when I lived in Ann Arbor in the mid '90s. Riders in downtown A2 and on Carpenter Rd were my regular local shops back then.
Same w/ models, on a smaller scale..
Each type of content in a kit involves different manufacturing processes---the styrene parts depend on molding tools that are in some physical plant somewhere (and RoG kits tend to have those in Europe), the decals are printed by a decal printing specialist, the instructions by another source, the box by a box vendor w/ specialized printing...the nature of the global supply chain results in those functions often being in different geolocations..
A new-tool '56 would be interesting. I'd like to see something that hasn't been done before in scale in Ford trucks, like a '67-72 F-series or the new Raptor.
And today, Mopar has SRT--which is 'Street & Racing Technology', not 'Street Racing Technology'
Or how about Toyota's TRD? That trim level always looks like it's missing a letter...
So it looks like the followup will be a '64 or '65 Falcon Sprint convertible. IIRC, wasn't it originally announced as a '65 Ranchero or am I mis-remembering?
About the only qualm I have about buying one of these is the price point--is it really worth twice a Revell new tool? I'm used to paying $40 or more for a Fujimi or Tamiya, but it seems wierd for Trumpeters...
I surprised myself..48 out of 48, 100%. The hood ornaments were a bit tricky. As far as old cars go, I'm much more of the '60s-70s fan, but I guess I know 50s designs fairly well..
I saw the Routemaster and 2CV announcement..surprising considering Tamiya did the 2CV also years ago. I thought I saw the Routemaster was going to be 1:32nd. I see they are also doing an Audi R8 Spyder..looking forward to that. And reissuing the Merc 300SLR coupe..I have the open version, the coupe will be nice to have.
Does anyone in the know know when Revell will announce their 2nd half 2011 new releases? IIRC from last year and years past, it was always around May 1st....of course, many of the 1st half 2011 new releases are delayed until the 2nd half of the year, but that's expected..
Yeah, they can be addictive...I've been collecting Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Tomica, etc since childhood, later added Johnny Lightning, Greenlight, M2, Siku, etc...I easily have 15k diecast or more...
Sharp build...back when you could tell what kind of a car a NASCAR race car was without reading the brand labels.. I enjoyed NASCAR racing a lot in the '80s.
Interesting...I've seen stuff like this in 1:1 before..reminds me of some the 'Keys Cruisers' or Kruzers I saw in the '80s in the Florida Keys..old rusty cars (usually wagons) w/ the rear bodywork removed and a flatbed added...I remember a mid '70s Torino and a mid '70s Mercury Colony Park..w/ woodgrain.
I remember getting this kit as an xmas present when I was around 12. I remember I was disappointed by the non-stock chassis, engine compartment, fake dashboard, etc.
