Grumbling about the climate and the weather is just human nature. Seems everytime I talk to my Mom in Ohio that's the first thing we talk about. Everywhere I've lived in my life (E. Ohio, SE Michigan, the Florida Keys, Chicago, Colorado Springs, Denver, Phoenix) has had it's unique weather patterns, highs and lows, ups and downs. As will where I move next will have. That's just the way it is. As Buckaroo Banzai said, 'Wherever you go, there you are'. -

The weather is definitely variable here..very dramatic range of temps and sudden shifts. I remember a lot of wild weather also when I lived in Colorado..40 inch snows, then 60 degrees a couple days later.. -

Yes, about 30 here now...couldn't believe yesterday..only got in the 40s..sunny and windy. -
Also used in a British road racing series..I've seen B&W pics of them on tracks like Brands Hatch w/ '63 Galaxies and Lotus Cortinas, etc... I have restorable builtup AMT '64 and '65 Falcons I got years ago, but they are both convertibles..the only HTs I have are the Model King AF/X ones.

I talked w/ a buddy of mine that lives near downtown Chicago last night...he and his wife have stocked up on food, etc and don't plan to go out until after the storm..they don't have a truck w/ a snowplow, but a Mini convertible and a Prius. -

I bet the local weather guys are getting wild! Snowpacalypse '11!! Stay warm.. I remember vaguely as a kid the Blizzard of '78, was out in rural Eastern Ohio then. Some of biggest snowfall I remember was back in March '04 or '05..had about 45 inches of snow over 2 1/2 days in Denver..didn't go outside for 3 days. Was 40 and sunny a couple days later. -

Don't remind me...3 months until summer here..summer is the season I truly hate in Phoenix...about 5 months of triple digit horror. If I hear 'It's a dry heat' one more time...grrrrrr.... -

I don't miss dealing w/ snow..had some huge storms when I lived in Colorado Springs and Denver.. had a 4x4 SUV daily driver (a Bronco II then a Grand Cherokee), so no problems. Worse though were the NE Ohio and SE Michigan winters before that...in Michigan I had an SUV, but for 6 winters in NE Ohio I had a RWD 4cyl Mustang w/ snow tires on all 4 wheels (my college/grad school winter car)..got around pretty well w/ that w/ a couple bags of concrete mix in the trunk. If my next move is to an area w/ snowy winters, I'll probably get another SUV..probably a new Grand Cherokee, been happy w/ my '00. -
Now, now Marc..no bragging. I have all of those in my stash as well, mint kits, rebuildables, and resin. The idea of these lists is not what was, but what could be..I limited my list to variations of the recent (last 25 years) tooling from Revell..40+ yr old tooling is one thing, but some subjects (like the '65 GTO) would be certainly nice to see done w/ modern tooling...

Was talking w/ my Mom and brother in eastern Ohio yesterday..sounds like it's been bad there in the last week and going to get worse. Supposed to be cool and rainy here this week, with high in the low 50s a couple days, a big change from the highs in the 70s of the last couple weeks... -
Sharp build..coming along nicely. I've never heard of the twin-plug setup..interesting..I assume there was some sort of advantage to a setup like that?

Oh yeah...that one in Boss 302, Boss 302 Laguna Seca and Boss 302R versions gets my vote. Others from '11 releases: 2011 Mustang GT from Revell 2010 Mustang GT (i.e. get the 5.0 motor) 2011 Mustang Shelby GT500 from Revell 2010 Mustang GT 2012 Chevy Camaro Z-28 from Revell 2011 Chevy Camaro SS Variations from tooling already out that come to mind for me: '11 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 from '09 Dodge Challenger SRT8 '65 GTO ht from Revell '66 GTO ht '67 GTO ht or conv from Revell '66 GTO ht '70-72 Olds 442 fastback from Revell '72 Olds conv '70-72 Olds Cutlass SX or Supreme formal ht from Revell '72 Olds conv '68-69 Chevelle SS ht from Revell '72 Olds '71-72 Buick GS from Revell '72 Olds or '70 Buick GSX '70 Dodge Charger R/T from Revell '68/69 Charger R/T '68-69 Dodge Coronet R/T from Revell '68/69 Charger R/T '69 Mustang Boss 302 from '69 Mach 1 (with corrected headlight buckets) '69 Mercury Cyclone GT or Spoiler from '69 Talledega '70 Mercury Cyclone from '70 Torino '57 Chevy Bel Air convertible or Nomad from Revell modern-tool '57 Chevy Bel Air 2dr sedan '56 Chevy Bel Air ht or convertible from Revell '56 Chevy 2dr sedan '32 Ford Victoria, B400, Phaeton, sedan delivery, or 4dr sedan street rods from Revell modern-tool '32 Ford I'm hesitant to list any modified reissues for AMT or Lindberg because those seem much less likely to occur compared to Revell.

I used Public Storage 12x12x16 boxes IIRC for my models for each move (since Public Storage is where I have my storage units). I assigned each box a number, created an Excel spreadsheet for each box to list the inventory. I could get about 10-12 kit boxes or so in each box. I packed away about 100 boxes of kits w/ my '02 move, and 50 w/ my '08 move...probably will only have 10-15 boxes of kits for the next move. But I really need to consolidate everything together in one location rather than in 3 states as it is now..

Well, the Monaco is only 37 years old, while the Olds is really old.. I remember seeing those mid '70s Monacos on the road as a kid..I've only seen a couple '49 Olds at car shows, never on the road...for the Monaco, I'd want to do a Blues Brothers replica (as I'm a fan of the movie) and one stock, as I like '70s land yachts...
-
For vintage Oldsmobiles, I'd rather see a '66 Toronado (though I have the Johan kits) or an early '70s Cutlass SX coupe (though I can kitbash one from the Revell convertible).
-
We'll see.. I'm skeptical of the 'Doc Hudson' angle for the Hudson kit, since it's not being marketed as the 'Cars' car... at least Oldsmobile is a brand that is still relatively familiar...Hudson was long gone even when I was born 40 years ago...
-
Seems like the same kind of obscure vintage subject as the Moeibus Hudson. Wonder how that one will do.
-
LoL.. I can imagine the frustration of trying to be 100% accurate w/ a racing car model, since they often changed lots of details from race to race through a season..
-
Collectible Automobile is probably my favorite of the old American car subject mags...been reading it for 25 years. For vintage racing and vintage European cars, I love Motorsport, Classic & Sportscar, and Octane..
-
I pick up Mopar Action and Mopar Muscle once in a while strictly for the pictures, not the writing..I get ideas for builds from those mags. As far as other magazines, I like Hemmings Classic Cars and Hemmings Muscle Machines, but a lot of times some of the writers come off (esp. in their columns) as grumpy old men living in the past...
