  1. IIRC, the last time I went it was $55/person for general admission on Saturday.
  2. Watched some of the BJ coverage tonight....loved the silver GTO Judge convertible and olive green '70 Chevelle SS...love the musclecars in the non-predictable colors. Looking forward to seeing the vintage Ferraris, etc at the Gooding & Company show tomorrow.
  3. Agreed about BitEotB...I like the styling of the 360 way more the 430, I find the 430 too busy in the details and esp. don't like the taillights. Haven't seen the 488 in person yet, but like it overall from the photos. Stylistically, my least favorite Ferrari designs of recent decades are probably the 348 and the dull Mondial.
  4. I'm planning on going to Gooding & Company on Sat and Russo & Steele Sunday...been to Barrett-Jackson 3 times before...looks like the weather is going to be good this weekend.
  5. Depends on where you are starting from...I take 51 to the 10 to the 60 to Mill ave, but I live near the 51. If you are going to be closer to the east 101 (like Scottsdale Rd and 101 or Frank Lloyd Wright and 101, I would take the 101 south to the 60 to Mill Ave.
  6. Hobby Depot in Tempe is probably my favorite in the metro area...I used to work in N. Scottsdale, don't recall any hobby shops up there.
  7. I hear you...I have two Westies, a Silky, an Australian Terrier, and a Yorkie..quite a fun pack to hang out with.
  8. Fun...glad I've got terriers...Westies and Yorkies can't climb too high.
  9. Nope..that kit has the R/T emblem molded to the grille. The T/A parts are not much more than the hood and air cleaner.
  10. I'd be interested in one or two, esp. with the distributor and air cleaner. I have a few from Lindberg kits to use in various cars, but can use another or two..
  11. Got the Fujimi Lotus 97t today in the mail from HLJ...sweet. Got the Monogram '66 Shelby GT350 reissue and Revell Kurtis Midget w/ Offy engine a couple days ago.
  12. Yep...I drove through 8 Colorado winters w/ my Grand Cherokee w/ the 4.0L..only got stuck twice, both times my own fault.
  13. I used to live in Colorado Springs and Denver. I remember some huge snow storms in both places! Been cold here in Phoenix the last few days.
  14. And it's not just w/ kits I've bought new..over the years I've managed to end up w/ the multiples of some old, long out of production kits...like 2 AMT '60 Starliners, 2 AMT '61 Galaxie Sunliners, 2 '61 Mercury convertibles, AMT '67 Cougars, 2 '68 Cougars, 3 '67 Rivieras, 2 '68 Thunderbirds, 2 '65 and '66 Cadillac Coupe De Villes, 3 '66 Cadillac Ambulances, 2 MPC '71 Impalas, 2 MPC '73 Caprices, 3 '74 Caprices, 3 '75 Caprices, 2 '76 Caprices, for example...some builtups, some minty. It seems I can never have too many old AMTs, MPCs, and Johans..
  15. I remember a Blazer, thought it was more like 1:20th..I built a Testors Capri in that series as a kid, remember that Testors paint didn't seem to stick to well to the plastic...was a strange plastic..they also had a Mustang as well, '79-82 vintage..
  16. Neat car..I recall seeing one of these on a Top Gear episode a while back. I have one of these in a 1:43rd scale diecast (Lledo Vanguards series) that I bought about 10 years ago in London.
  17. Never bought a case, but there are many kits I've bought 2-6 copies of over time, as I think of new variations to do from them (like the Revell '69 Nova for a recent example--so many variations can be done)...esp. 2n1 kits, or those w/ resin conversion parts available or kits that are ameniable to engine swaps. Or multiples for parts (I have 1/2 dozen of the AMT '71 Duster just for the engines).. Some of the old AMT staples I've also managed to get multiple reissues of over time...like the AMT '63 Ford Galaxie, '63 Impala, '64 Impala,'65 Galaxie, '66 Galaxie, '66 Mustang,'69 Cougar, '69 Ford XL....have the original issues, '70s and/or '80s issues, '90s and/or '00 issues, etc.. For example w/ modern subjects, I've bought 5 of the Revell Dodge Magnum--1 to build stock, 1 to build modified, 3 for engines. 4 of the Revell '09 Challenger SRT8 for variations w/ aftermarket parts/decals. 6 of the Revell '06 Mustang GT for variations w/ aftermarket parts/decals.. That's part of how I've ended up w/ around 1500 unbuilts over the last 15 years.
  18. LoL...I've done my Xmas drinking at home..having some egg nog now, spiked w/ vodka. My only model-related gift for Xmas is the new Fujimi Lotus 97t...alas, it just shipped from HLJ yesterday, so I won't have it until January. Got a bunch of new Greenlight 1:64th diecast cars incl. the neat TRU Rte 66 set. And some DVDs of '70s F1 racing footage..been enjoying those over the 3 day weekend..
  19. Interesting..wouldn't mind having those, esp. the race cars. I remember the Matchbox kits, that was when Lesney (Matchbox's parent company) owned AMT..they are in the 1979, which is my oldest AMT catalog. I have an AMT packaged ex-ESCI Porsche 928 and Lamborghini Countach from the late '80s.
  20. Interesting...I'm not familiar w/ the Heller AMTs...anyone have a list of what was released? Similarly, I remember about 20 years ago AMT released some 1:24th Aoshima and ESCI kits in AMT boxes.
  21. The Skip's Fiesta issue I built was kind of a salmon/terra cotta pinkish red. Left in that color, did it two tone w/ white roof and decklid and matching two-tone interior..turned out pretty nice.
  22. The RoG issue from a few years ago also has the figures..it's molded in a bright green. I have the '70s issue also, don't recall what color it's in (haven't built it). I read somewhere the new issue is molded in white. Anyone know when the original issue was issued?
  23. I thought the police parts in the Force 440 were the same as in the 4dr kits. I don't have the Force 440, but have the regular '77 & '78 Monaco 2dr annuals and several of the 4drs from the original DOH through TJ Hooker, Joker Goon Car to the current DOH version...
  24. I'm into all scales, basically...1:25th and 1:24th are my mainstays, but I like 1:20th for F1 cars, have some 1:87th, 1:64th, 1:32nd, 1:43rd, 1:16th, and a few 1:12th and 1:8th scale models. Subject matter dictates my interest, regardless of scale. In diecast I'm all over the place--1:64th, 1:24th, 1:18th, 1:43rd, 1:32nd, box scale, etc...
  25. Beside the difference in the roof and trunk design, the rear quarters are longer. I hunted down builtup AMT '59 Galaxies so I have a regular HT and convertible. One thing I've thought about doing w/ an extra Skyliner is making a phantom Starliner--mate the '60 Starliner roof to the '59 body and windshield.
