  1. Probably the same as the Motor City Muscle version from a few years ago w/ new box art. That release had a set of aftermarket wheels and tires. I do wish they would tool up a new '10 Camaro SS rather than reissuing the same old, same old...I would think a new kit could sell quite well...they have done the Challenger and will be doing the '10 Mustang GT (though they should do the '11 instead).
  2. Speaking of convertibles, I saw an absolutely incredible turquoise w/ turquoise '66 GTO convertible, top down in Encinitas, Ca last weekend..beautiful car...I'd love to replicate that in scale from the Revell '66 ht.
  3. Didn't get any models this weekend, but saw a lot of interesting old and new cars in So Cal this weekend, incl. an SLR on I-5 north of San Diego. Had a quiet weekend at the beach.
  4. Darn...going to miss it...going to the beach. Maybe I can TiVo it or see some at my hotel.
  5. Can you post pics of the parts that come w/ the kit from ML? I assume there are chromed bumpers, grille, taillights? Curious about the dash and interior..
  6. Friday picked up my second Revell '62 Impala ht..LHS had put one back for me when their backorder came in.
  7. Good choice. I've seen white/white vinyl top w/ red interior also that is quite nice. I remember a pale yellow one w/ black interior in the Florida Keys in the '80s, quite striking w/ no vinyl top and Magnum 500 wheels. Since childhood in the '70s I've always liked the '71/72 Fords, maybe it was from watching too many cop shows and movies w/ them, but I love the long, angular lines of these cars and the unique grill and taillight designs, esp. the '71.
  8. Sharp build..I have to get one of these and the LTD 2dr...do the mirrors come with it or did you source those elsewhere?
  9. Speaking of wheel choices, I'm thinking of a set'67 Chevy Rallys (either from the Revell Chevelle or the AMT '67 Impala), '65/66 Chevelle 5-spoke hubcaps, or Cragars for one or more of my builds. I had thought about vintage style TTs (from the Revell '32 Ford) but I have a set of those earmarked for a '65 Impala SS build.
  10. Cool..love the color.
  11. Thanks for posting the in-progress pics...I love these vintage F1 cars.
  12. Mailman dropped off the Revell '62 Impala ht kit I'd preordered from my favorite OLD. Pretty sweet kit at first glance..probably will get 2-3 more.
  13. The '67 Shelby kit is a GT350..has a 289. The '68 Shelby kit is a GT500--has a 428.
  14. Looks very good. Surprising it is LHD.
  15. Picked up the '67 Charger reissue today at my favorite LHS. Alas, I missed the '62 Impalas by a few hours..they had received 2 yesterday, sold them this morning. Will have more in a couple weeks.
  16. Sweet...the MH '72 Custom and LTD kits are on my to do list. Love those big '70s cars.
  17. Hmmm...looks great from that one pic. Decisions, decisions..Fujimi or RoG?
  18. Very cool...I love the style of the '70s F1 cars...been looking at the pics from Monaco Grand Prix Historique on the Motorsports Retro website...
  19. I've always thought of Pro Touring and G-Machines as the same approach...the 'G' is about G-forces, i.e. cornering ability. Updating vintage iron w/ larger, modern wheels & tires and brakes, suspension upgrades, and often modern drivetrains. Not to be confused w/ Pro Street which are made to look like a street version of a Pro Stock drag car..i.e. go fast in a straight line. One early magazine car of the G-Machine style I remember seeing was in Car & Driver in the early '80s-- a couple B&W photos of a '76 or so Seville with fender flares, huge tires, roll cage, and a twin turbo SBC or other powerful V8...very cool. Another genre of car modifying that I like is the 'sleeper', whether factory stock that way or modified that way. The ultimate one I'd love to build in 1:1 would be a late model ('03-10) black Town Car (airport sedan style) with a late model supercharged Shelby 5.4 V8 and suspension and brake upgrades, etc. But keep the whitewall tires and tinted windows. I've long been interested in having a 'Hot Rod Lincoln'.
  20. I missed out on 8-tracks and CB radios, though my older brother had them in his cars in the late '70s and early 80s. I started w/ cassettes in the mid '80s then moved to CDs in the late '80s...still remember as a teenager rolling around listening to CDs in my Mustangs on my Sony Discman plugged into the cassette deck.
  21. I'm not going to bother w/ changing the inner sides...it's the wheelbase that seems correct on the later ones. Too much cutting to get the correct vintage inner parts..I'm basically using the '92-94 beds with the '79 outer fenders attached (with most of the work involved in moving the wheel well opening on the '79 fenders to match the short and long beds. I plan to use the 2wd '92-94 short and longbed chassis and dirty bits under them, the '79 cab seems to fit well on the later chassis. It won't be 100% accurate as far as the chassis design and suspension, but should be good for shelf models.
  22. I started making a short bed and long bed (regular WB) using the short and long bed inner bed structures from the AMT '92-94 style pickups...a lot of cut and paste work to move the wheel well openings on the Camper Special outer rear fenders. Still haven't finished, started about 2 1/2 years ago, got busy.
  23. I got a resin one off ebay a while back..it's pretty rough, but better than nothing.
  24. Other museums at Balboa Park I like are the Model Railroad Museum and the Air & Space Museum. I try and get to the beach (Pacific Beach in San Diego, Hermosa Beach and Santa Monica are my favorites) at least once or twice a year...been to Balboa Park 3 times over the last 13 years. I like the Timken Museum of Art at Balboa Park, same Timken family I believe as Timken bearings back in NE Ohio where I grew up.
  25. Cool..that's a fun museum..went there about 4 years ago...need to go there and the Petersen again this summer.
