  1. Other museums at Balboa Park I like are the Model Railroad Museum and the Air & Space Museum. I try and get to the beach (Pacific Beach in San Diego, Hermosa Beach and Santa Monica are my favorites) at least once or twice a year...been to Balboa Park 3 times over the last 13 years. I like the Timken Museum of Art at Balboa Park, same Timken family I believe as Timken bearings back in NE Ohio where I grew up.
  2. Cool..that's a fun museum..went there about 4 years ago...need to go there and the Petersen again this summer.
  3. Compare this to Revell timelines...they announce something 6 months out...it then gets delayed another 6 months... Tamiya is very punctual by comparison.
  4. It's coming in June, I think. It was previously announced, wouldn't be included in the Fall announcements. Likewise for reissues like the '48 Ford woody, '67 Charger, '69 Mach 1, etc that are coming in Spring/Summer...
  5. Denver Broncos-- Ford Bronco (which I drove about 10 years ago in Colorado).
  6. VW Beetle, of course, since it has an air cooled rear engine..
  7. Hmm...for a crudely formed shell like that, $2.99 would be a more realistic price.
  8. I go away for a weekend to Denver and come back and see lots of new kits announced (didn't take a puter w/ me and didn't even surf on my phone). Nice. Agreed w/ others that the new Mustang should be an '11, but I'm happy to see it nonetheless. Nice to see the '72 Cutlass 2nd release w/ a plain hood and uptop. The Midget race cars are intriguing, as I've been getting into vintage open wheel race cars (F1 and Indy) in recent years. So these are new tooling? I thought Revell had already announced an old Monogram Kurtis kit being reissued also this year? Many of the other issues I already have (SVO, Bronco, '63 Impala, '67 Chevelle) but that's ok..
  9. Ya...remember the olden days (i.e. 20 years ago) when you only found out about new releases when you found a kit in your LHS or read about them as coming in a magazine? Not that I'm sentimental about the past, but I do sometimes miss the surprise and delight of finding something new...
  10. I saw it posted on the other forums a while back, pretty sure it's been posted here also. It's also been listed for preorder on a couple vendor sites for a month or two.
  11. I saw that build..the detail was incredible. Some that I really liked were the '59 Chrysler Imperial Ghia Limosine, the '60s Lotus Indy car, and a clean cream colored '67 Cougar.
  12. Cool..I haven't seen the SLS in person yet, but have seen them on TV as the safety cars in the 2010 F1 races..I read somewhere recently that a convertible version is coming for 2012.
  13. Fun with Photoshop, looks like. Lots of interesting what ifs. A phantom I've long mulled is what would an Oldsmobile version of the F-body had looked like if Olds had it's own Camaro/Firebird equivalent from '67?
  14. Another wheel choice I was thinking of are '67 style Chevy Rallyes.
  15. Good idea...I have about 6 sets of those 32 Ford TTs set aside to use on various cars, have a set to use on a Revell '65 Impala. They look so good on '60s cars.
  16. I've got ideas for at least 3...probably one box stock, one with either TTs or Cragars or the 5-spoke hubcaps from the '65 Chevelle (those look good on '65-66 Impalas, IMHO), and a Biscayne 2dr sedan using the MCW resin kit.
  17. Maybe, though they usually have the lowrider wheels (and the larger California Wheels) on separate chrome trees.
  18. Interesting...I just noticed the box top doesn't mention that it's an Impala. Odd. I didn't even notice that on the one I bought last week.
  19. Cool..I ended getting only a couple bagged parts kits at the DSC...pretty much everything in kits I would be interested in was something I already had. I guess I have too many unbuilts..
  20. Sharp build...love the color scheme..
  21. Picked up a Revell '66 Chevy SS 396 tonight. Saw the Syclone, passed on it since I have the original issue.
  22. Word of advice---wait until you have the item in hand before starting a review thread...maybe would have reduced the drama...
  23. You could probably get a running 1:1 Nova for $700...LOL
  24. Got in the mail yesterday a cleanly built, fairly complete AMT '67 Corvette coupe, w/ box and instructions that I'd got off ebay a few days ago. Made the rounds of some westside hobby shops today, picked up some more Tamiya 1:20th F1 goodies--Tire Changing Pit Crew, Williams FW1B Renault, '77 Tyrrell P34 (the wild 6 wheeler I remember reading about in Road & Track as a kid), and the recent reissue of the old Monogram '32 Ford.
