Reliable Resin : COMING SOON
Rob Hall replied to Reliable Resin's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Speaking of buying resin on ebay, one thing I've noticed is the best sellers of resin products on ebay have the products that are in the photos ready to ship. I bid on something or buy it now, win, pay, and get the item within a week. Not to point fingers at any particular resin caster, but one should not post items for sale on ebay if they are not ready to ship. Waiting weeks to get an ebay item is wrong, IMO. -
Beautiful build. I'd love to see that kit reissued. I have an unbuilt AMT Lotus kit to build eventually, would like this one to go with it.
-
A little white box of Modelhaus resto parts came today, w/ some parts for '60s-70s Johan kits.

Those turned out nice..I've got ideas for at least 3 of the kits, incl. a stock GTS using the steelies and dog dish hubcaps from the '68 Charger.

My LHS got all of these in today, I picked up a ZR-1...alas, I was too late to get one of the Darts. But I have 2 on preorder w/ my favorite online vendor.

Got some Missing Link '69-74 Plymouth hubcaps from ebay yesterday and today picked up the new Revell Corvette ZR-1 at the LHS. Looks pretty sweet. Alas, the Hemi Darts were gone by the time I got there (this shop is in the RPP program).

I see no pics. Maybe you can post them on your website. -
This Is What I Want To See
Rob Hall replied to Swifster's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Yes, pretty straight forward to do from the Revell or AMT kits. I cut the roof off one of my Revell kits. Haven't started to craft a boot or rear interior trim panels yet, though. -
Cool idea...I love your plan for the engine.

E.R. visit due to modeling mishap

I think maybe one of those metal thumb caps sewers use could be useful when exactoing. -
E.R. visit due to modeling mishap
Rob Hall replied to samm1970's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I still have a faint scar on my right thumb from an exacto knife incident from 25 years ago when I was 15...I remember it bled and bled, I kept screaming for my Mom to call 911 and that I had cut my aorta. Well, not exactly..the bleeding eventually stopped..didn't need stitches. -
Went for a while this morning.. was fun..saw some beautiful builds. My sister the F1 fanatic and I bought a bunch of F1 kits over in the vendor area.

NEW?? Revell/Monogram Parts Packs
Rob Hall replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I remember those..I never bought any since they were all chromed. -
I'll probably go Saturday for a couple hours. Never been to an IPMS deal..is there much model car content?
-
A buddy of mine did something like that in '98..bought a '91 NSX in Portland and drove it back home to Denver. Looks like a sweet car..ever since I sold my M3, I've thought about getting a 911, esp. a 993...I have a buddy in Breckenridge w/ a 993 C4S..fun car.

Been building since 1978 (am 40 now). Have finished about 250 models. Have about 250 'used' restorable old builtups. Have about 1500 unbuilts, in storage in 3 states. Really need to consolidate everything in one place. Next house, next state. Most of my unbuilts are kits I've bought new since 1997, when I got back in after the previous decade away (when I was in high school, college and grad school I didn't build much), though I have a number of vintage (early 60s through 80s) unbuilts to build eventually...

Hah hah..Camelback is the name of the street.
-
I forgot about that one...don't have it.
-
I assume this is a rebox of the Revell of Germany kit that came out a few months ago...I wonder if they made any changes for this release.
-
Interesting...my understanding about Synergy Green is for '10 it's only available on the V6 LT model, but for '11 it will be available on the V8 SS also.. I saw another Synergy Green one yesterday, don't know if it's the same one from work or not..drove by the local Chevy store on Camelback, they have at least 4 Camaros on the lot--white, bright red, black, and orange w/ black stripes.

Got a familiar little white box from the Modelhaus yesterday, some resto parts for some old AMT Corvettes I have ('62 and '67).

For paint and tools, I still use the local shops... For Revell, Revell of Germany, AMT, Lindberg kits, I've used Evers Toy Store (www.everstoystore.com) and Model Express (www.modelexpress.net) for years...Evers over 10 years. Great customer service for both. For Japanese brand kits (Tamiya, etc) I've used Hobby Link Japan (www.hlj.com) for years and more recently also Hobby Search (www.1999.co.jp).
