Sweet...I love the MPCs of that era...I got a nicely builtup one off ebay maybe 10 years ago, dark blue with a white vinyl top and a '72 interior/chassis/engine. From the same seller I also got a builtup '69, lt green w/out an opening hood. I have a gluebomb '68 convertible to restore eventually.

I started my own resin "company"

I got two sets of the early style Mopie steelies this week...very nice. Maybe you can do some 15 inch ones eventually. Or maybe the ones in the Revell '68 Charger are 15s..not sure. -
That Cuda is really cool! Love the Superbird wing and the engine!

What's up with screen names?
Rob Hall replied to oldscool's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've been on the internet over 20 years (going back in the days of usenet newsgroups and BBSes) and I've usually always stuck to my real name on most sites..never really got into the handle thing. -
It's a neat kit. I remember as a teenager getting the 'Skip's Fiesta Drive-in' reissue (late '80s) and wondering where the body was when I opened it...first Revell multi-piece body kit I'd encountered. With time, effort and care, it can build up quite nicely.

Yes, a new tool would be great. I've.always found the fit of the MPC kits to be fiddly, didn't like how the engine compartment was part of the interior panels, and the nose shape of their '87-88 was inaccurate, along w/ the darn chrome headlights. I think I have all the MPC and Monogram Fox Mustangs except for this Cafe Racer version.

The C-body were Gran Furys for '75-78 and Royal Monacos for '77-78 (the B-body Fury replaced the Satellite for '75, the Coronet was the Dodge B-body for '75-'76 ('76 2drs were Chargers). I hadn't heard about a resin '74 Monaco..there are many in diecast in various scales (not 1:25th). I hope it's not a TKM..those are dreadful.

1957 Ford Country Sedan 9 passengers and shasta Airflyte trailer
Rob Hall replied to zelkam's topic in Model Cars
Way cool..love the trailer. -
Also, keep in mind how freaking old this subject is..it's not like a new or late model car where the model companies have access to the real thing and the automakers...

I figure I'm good for 1 of 'em..I don't do customs, generally don't do NASCAR (other than '60s-80s era), but it's offbeat and alien enough to be appealing.

Considering it's an obscure subject from almost 60 years ago that I've only seen maybe 2 of in person in my lifetime, I think it looks pretty good at first glance.

Interesting..the MPC/AMT LRE kits I have are '78s and have the '72-78 hood w/ the depressions. MPC did make later 4x4 '79-80 style Dodge pickups w/ the '79-80 hood (w/o depressions). (The picture in post #9 shows a red hood that looks like the MPC LRE hood..the original issue of that kit was molded in red).

New hot rod movie coming in 2011!
Rob Hall replied to Rick R's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
And don't forget the killer truck movie, 'Maximum Overdrive'..wasn't that based on a King story also? Probably my favorite evil truck movie (well, evil truck driver movie) was 'Duel'..the 'Joy Ride' movies had a bit of the Duel flavor/theme, esp. the first one. -

Maybe they could change the Buick to a '50..the '50 looks even scarier w/ the grille teeth over the bumper. -
One thing I was surprised is that the side trim looks to be molded on rather than separate..I would think some of should be separate chrome parts like the dirigible. Looks like it's going to be a cool kit.

I've never read the book..was Christine also a '58 Fury in the book? I've read Kings' 'From a Buick 8'..strange car in that one...not sure if that has movie potential or not. I knew a kid in my high school who was a couple years ahead of me that had a '69 Charger very similar to the car in Christine..this was in '85-86. Had a few '60s-70s pony cars and muscle cars in my school--an orange '68-69 Road Runner, a '69 Chevelle, a couple early Camaros, several '65-69 Mustangs. There were a bunch of '80s vintage fun cars in my school also..several Monte Carlo SSes, Mustang GTs (incl. my '87) and LX 5.0s, Camaro Z28s and IROC-Zs, Trans Ams and GTAs, and one Grand National.. As far as Christine, maybe the new movie will trash dozens of Priuses, Volts, and Leafs (Leaves)? A battle of hybrid and electric cars (w/ the Volt in the hero car role) -
