  1. The Camaros were pretty sweet...would make a great kit subject, IMO...there was a orange one that got hit last evening, driver's door was ripped open from the front.
  2. Just saw that...did ya see the BMW M6 earlier that went behind the wall, still under it's own power, mysteriously missing the roof, rear window, hood? I wonder how it got like that...
  3. One thing the model magazines need to pay attention to are typos and factual errors...picked up the SA Contest issue the other day, great pics but so many errors in the captions, it was painful to read.
  4. That may have been my first issue..I recall discovering SAE the summer between high school and college..it was revelatory to find a magazine about the hobby.
  5. It is tough...I find myself using my laptop whenever I'm watching TV, or surfing on my phone whenever I'm not near the laptop. It doesn't help that I spend 40 hrs a week using my laptop in my corporate life...just so used to being online all the time.
  6. Moves are a pain...I still have a lot of models and furniture in storage from my last two moves..going to probably be moving again in the next year.
  7. No idea..IIRC, the '49 Olds fake box appeared around 10-12 years ago, which was over 20 years after the Lesney purchase of AMT (I think that was in the late '70s, then ERTL bought AMT in the mid '80s).
  8. Good weekend for racing on TV...watched the BTCC, DTM, and WTCC coverage this morning, now the 24...
  9. Picked up the Revell '63 Impala SS and '67 Chevelle SS reissues at my LHS this afternoon.
  10. IIRC, I saw this car in the Henry Ford museum about 20 years ago in Johnson configuration w/ a roof.
  11. I had a fun afternoon...skipped B-J and went to the Gooding & Company auction--some incredible '50s-60s European cars (a stunning Fiat 8V, a couple Aston Martins, Ferraris, a couple Mercedes), a couple '30s Packards and Rolls Royces, a Shelby GT350R (raced by Pedro Rodriguez), a unrestored Tucker, a Maserati MC12, etc. A nice relaxed small event. Afterwards went to the Scottsdale Pavillions cruise in--huge--all sorts of cars from '32 Ford hot rods to suede '50s cars to oodles of muscle cars and '50-60s big cars and lots of Mopies..quite a variety of cars showed up..first time I've been to that..a lot of fun...then dinner in Old Town Scottsdale. Great weather today..going to try and go to Russo & Steele tomorrow.
  12. I'm going to check out the Gooding & Company auction today...maybe hit the Scottsdale Pavilions this evening, then maybe Russo & Steele tomorrow.
  13. IIRC, the last time I went it was $55/person for general admission on Saturday.
  14. Watched some of the BJ coverage tonight....loved the silver GTO Judge convertible and olive green '70 Chevelle SS...love the musclecars in the non-predictable colors. Looking forward to seeing the vintage Ferraris, etc at the Gooding & Company show tomorrow.
  15. Agreed about BitEotB...I like the styling of the 360 way more the 430, I find the 430 too busy in the details and esp. don't like the taillights. Haven't seen the 488 in person yet, but like it overall from the photos. Stylistically, my least favorite Ferrari designs of recent decades are probably the 348 and the dull Mondial.
  16. I'm planning on going to Gooding & Company on Sat and Russo & Steele Sunday...been to Barrett-Jackson 3 times before...looks like the weather is going to be good this weekend.
  17. Depends on where you are starting from...I take 51 to the 10 to the 60 to Mill ave, but I live near the 51. If you are going to be closer to the east 101 (like Scottsdale Rd and 101 or Frank Lloyd Wright and 101, I would take the 101 south to the 60 to Mill Ave.
  18. Hobby Depot in Tempe is probably my favorite in the metro area...I used to work in N. Scottsdale, don't recall any hobby shops up there.
  19. I hear you...I have two Westies, a Silky, an Australian Terrier, and a Yorkie..quite a fun pack to hang out with.
  20. Fun...glad I've got terriers...Westies and Yorkies can't climb too high.
  21. Nope..that kit has the R/T emblem molded to the grille. The T/A parts are not much more than the hood and air cleaner.
  22. I'd be interested in one or two, esp. with the distributor and air cleaner. I have a few from Lindberg kits to use in various cars, but can use another or two..
  23. Got the Fujimi Lotus 97t today in the mail from HLJ...sweet. Got the Monogram '66 Shelby GT350 reissue and Revell Kurtis Midget w/ Offy engine a couple days ago.
  24. Yep...I drove through 8 Colorado winters w/ my Grand Cherokee w/ the 4.0L..only got stuck twice, both times my own fault.
  25. I used to live in Colorado Springs and Denver. I remember some huge snow storms in both places! Been cold here in Phoenix the last few days.
